'Star Wars' Celebration is officially underway in Tokyo, Japan and we've already gotten two big reveals from Shawn Levy's movie starring Ryan Gosling and 'The Mandalorian & Grogu' film.

00:00Star Wars Celebration is officially underway in Tokyo, Japan,
00:03and we've already gotten two big reveals from Sean Levy's movie starring Ryan Gosling
00:07and the Mandalorian and Grogu film.
00:12The Star Wars feature project that teams Gosling with director Levy now has a name and a release
00:17date. During a packed panel at Star Wars Celebration, the pair revealed that the film,
00:22titled Star Wars Starfighter, will open May 28, 2027. Production starts this fall.
00:28Gosling said on stage,
00:29The reality is that this script is just so good. It has such a great story with great and original
00:35characters. It's filled with so much heart and adventure, and there just really is not a more
00:39perfect filmmaker for this particular story than Sean. The film is a standalone movie that will
00:44be unconnected to the so-called Skywalker saga. The events of Starfighter take place approximately
00:49five years after the events of 2019's Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker. Elsewhere during the celebration,
00:56the debut footage of the Mandalorian and Grogu movie was shown to fans.
01:00Director and co-writer Jon Favreau and fellow co-writer Dave Filoni were on hand to introduce
01:05the action-heavy footage which included the mystery character Sigourney Weaver is playing
01:09speaking to Mando and Grogu, reminding Mando that he works for her.
01:14The footage of the film spun off from the Mandalorian TV series concluded with a brief look
01:18at Jeremy Allen White as Rod of the Hutt, the son of the crime lord Jabba the Hutt.
01:23Stars Pedro Pascal and Weaver also made an appearance on stage, as did the adorable Grogu.
