WB Governor on Murshidabad issue: ‘মায়েদের কান্না দেখেছি, শিশুদের কান্না দেখেছি, গণতন্ত্র এই ঘটনাকে কখনওই প্রশ্রয় দেয় না’: রাজ্যপাল
#MURSHIDABAD #CVANANDBOSE #WBGOVERNOR #WAQFPROTEST
“Democracy never supports such atrocities against any community. I have seen the cries of mothers, the cries of children; which is unacceptable in any way. The common man will not accept this incident. I will send a report of all this. Such atrocities are unacceptable. The Chief Minister has thought of me, I am grateful to her. But if I had not come here, I would not have known about their suffering, about their truth. I will not accept all this”, said by Governor CV Anand Bose

00:00One section of the community trying to intervene in another section, almost telling them, you
00:07shut up or put up. That is not the way democracy should function. That is not the way democracy
00:12will function. We will suddenly take action. Now I could hear straight from the mothers
00:17who are the sufferers. The children also, they talk to me. I talk to the children also.
00:22What is happening there is bizarre. Bizarre, to say the least. No civilized society can
00:28tolerate this. It is going to be a commitment to the people of Bengal. All steps will be
00:33taken to see that the road of violence is stemmed here. Violence and corruption. These are the
00:39two things which they have faced here. Nobody can live under fear. See, in a democracy like
00:44this, it is not democratic supremacy that should be there. Nobody will be allowed to take the
00:49law in their hand. The feelings which are expressed by the women in particular will be taken out
00:54seriously. All that the government can do, all that the government should do, will be
00:58done. I will take it up with the appropriate authorities, with the state government and
01:02also the government of India. We will certainly work together and find a permanent solution
01:07to the menace of violence.
01:08Sir, when the chief minister recommended you to not to come over here and visit this area.
01:14What is your opinion? When the chief minister recommended you to not to come over here and visit this
01:19area? When the chief minister recommended you to not to come and visit this area and meet
01:24the victims' families? See, that request of my esteemed constitutional colleague will be respected.
01:34I will also take that into account. When I visit the field, I will do whatever is required
01:41for me to understand the situation there. I will keep it in mind.
01:45Sir, are you assuring these people to go back to their home?
01:48Sir, people who are living here, they are claiming that they are now being threatened by the police.
01:53Sir, are you assuring them to go back to their home?
01:57Sir, see, all of them told me they should go back at the earliest. For that they said, number
02:04one, we want protection, sense of security. Number two, our houses have been damaged, gutted.
02:10We want houses. Number three, they want something to do for living. These are issues which they
02:16raised. Some common issues which they raised was, they need the kind of a outpost of the
02:22BSF camp, which was there, they said. That they want to, these are all issues which they
02:27raised. I have to analyze it, take it up with the appropriate authorities for the decision.
02:31Sir, your minister says that peaceful environment is already restored there. Do you think so?
02:38That is why I have come here in the field, to see for myself whether peaceful environment is
02:42there. Sir, what did the phytocytics even had to face? What did they convey you? What did
02:45they tell? Because they told us that they were dragged by the hairs. They also alleged that
02:48they were thrashed and beaten brutally as well. Their children were also snatched from them.
02:53Yes, they told me that. They said they were intimidated, miscreants came into their houses
02:58and they were physically assaulted. Abusive words were used. This is what is important.
03:03Sir, some women are also complaining that that is something political continuity and political
03:09thing is also happening. Some local leaders are also threatening that. Did they convey the
03:14same message to you or do you feel like it is something that is happening to you?
03:18When I discussed with them, you know, I took some, deliberately listened to them,
03:23talked to them. This kind of complaint nobody raised me.
03:26Sir, police stopped media to enter this place. What would you say?
03:31Then somebody interfered and made you interfere. Police stopped you. Now you are here. The right
03:37intervention has done at the right time to see that media is allowed to come and cover this.
03:42Sir, you have interfere? Pardon? You have interfere?
03:46Did you intervene, sir? Well, that's for yourself.
03:51They were saying that they have no trust on the locals. They are living in a traditional home because they are not allowed to go outside or not allowed to communicate with any other from the outside people.
04:10When I talked to them, what they repeated was, they want to go back at the earliest to their homes. Some deficiencies which they pointed out here, which a video then and there assured them that that will be rectified. They will be given food, clothing, shelter, whatever is required.
04:29And more than that, the international organization Red Cross, you know, the governor is president of that. They have sent a team with whatever support is to be given to the people. And some have been distributed here.
04:41So we will certainly see that all agencies are coordinated to see that, you know, they go back to their places with protection as early as possible.
04:51Sir, do you think this great government has failed to perform their duty as far as in order to control the situation of the virus?
04:57See, I am not for a blame game. Now what is required is to establish normalcy with the cooperation of all concerned.
05:03This is the request which they made, particularly the women. Certainly the request should be considered and taken up with the appropriate authorities for a decision.
