00:00And the way we beat Trump is we develop an agenda that speaks to the needs of the
00:09working class of this country, not just the 1%.
00:20Today in America, 60% of our people are living paycheck to paycheck.
00:28Do you all know what living paycheck to paycheck is about?
00:34All right, I grew up in a family that lived paycheck to paycheck in a rent control apartment.
00:41I know something about it.
00:43All right, you tell me.
00:44What is living paycheck to paycheck?
00:47You can't pay for the rents.
00:49What else?
00:51Can't afford what?
00:53Can't afford groceries.
00:55Hold it one at a time, one at a time.
00:58People all over this country want to provide good quality food for their kids.
01:04They walk into a grocery store.
01:06They can't afford it.
01:08What else do you got?
01:10Health care.
01:12Health care.
01:13All right.
01:14People, one at a time, people get sick.
01:19And in this country, they can't afford to go to a doctor.
01:24We lose 60,000 people a year because they don't have the money to go to a doctor when they should.
01:31If you are a single mom, you can't afford childcare.
01:44If you are a college student, you're going to go deeply in debt to try to get the education you need to get a decent job.
01:52Meanwhile, while working families struggle to put food on the table, the richest 1% live in their own fantasy world.
02:05You may have seen just the other day, Jeff Bezos took some of his friends to outer space.
02:11When they go on vacation, they go to their own islands that they have.
02:21Fly around the world in their own planes.
02:25Our demand is an economy that works for all, not just the few.
02:40Now, I want to deal with an issue, and I want you all to put this into your hearts.
02:44Back in 1944, a long time ago, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, one of the great presidents in American history.
02:56Roosevelt gave a State of the Union speeches in the middle of World War II, and it didn't get a whole lot of attention.
03:02He said, you know what, we have a great Constitution, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly.
03:07But you know what we're lacking?
03:09What we are lacking is an understanding that economic rights are human rights.
03:21So you have the right to vote, but if you're sleeping out on the street, it doesn't matter.
03:28You have the right to vote, but if you can't afford health care, it doesn't matter.
03:33So what we need to do is to understand and not let the establishment beat us down.
03:42Economic rights are human rights.
03:44What that means is that Musk should not be able to own himself five times more than half of the households in America.
03:59What it means, and this is not a radical idea, it is not a radical idea.
04:06We are the richest country in the history of the world.
04:10We are not a poor country.
04:12We do not have to have people sleeping out on the street or kids going hungry.
04:23We don't have to have 20% of our elderly living on $15,000 a year or less.
04:34We don't have to have the highest rate of child poverty of Elmissetti major nation on earth.
04:40So what do we have to do?
04:47What we have to have is an agenda that speaks to the needs of all Americans, whether you are in Idaho, Vermont, or any place else.
04:57Brothers and sisters, health care is a human right.
05:04We should not be the only major country on earth not to guarantee health care at every man, woman, and child.
05:12We should not be the only major country on earth not to guarantee health care at every man, woman, and child.
05:25We need to pass Medicare for all.
05:28We need to pass Medicare for all.
05:32Instead of spending a trillion dollars on the military, we need to build 5 million units of low income and affordable housing.
05:46We need to have the best education system in the entire world.
06:01I want the best and the brightest to go into teaching.
06:08I want the teaching profession to be respected.
06:16I want us to have free childcare.
06:23And I don't want our older kids to have to leave college deeply in debt, free college tuition.
06:35And despite what Trump says, climate change is not a hoax.
06:53It is an existential threat.
06:55We can lead the world and create millions of good paying union jobs.
07:04Transforming our energy system away from fossil fuel and into energy efficiency.
