00:00So, it's actually Cookie Gulati and Robbie Graywal who put this world together with Siddharth
00:10Anand. If you see the trailer as you can very correctly see it's a heist that we're trying to
00:17do where I'm going to talk about my character I'm sure they'll come to theirs. I'm playing you know
00:25the good part is in the trailer there is this little mystery that is there around my character
00:29you don't know she's the good one she's the bad one who is she with exactly so I think that's pretty
00:36much who I am this mysterious person who you really don't know what she's up to and of course you will
00:42see that throughout the film because again you don't know which side she's going towards so I
00:48think that's the beauty of the character where you keep it mysterious and I guess as an audience you
00:53always enjoy watching a mysterious woman in the middle of all of this chaos you always wonder
00:59what this one's going to do so I guess I'm just going to like sit back and watch the limelight
01:04that this character is getting because of this.
01:06Kunal is playing this cop called Vikram Patel.
01:10Right.
01:11who basically is very very smart he thinks very sharp but only five minutes slow so every time he
01:20needs to catch anybody he's five minutes late but he's he's a very smart and good looking cop that's what Kunal is
01:26what Kunal is playing am I missing out anything? Vikram's intelligence is just five minutes late.
01:30Behind.
01:31Like the two two dots is catching up and catching up and it goes to influence.
01:36And sometimes Vikram feels like I am here and these people are behind and these people are here but now they are here but they are on the other side so Vikram is standing there.
01:43Yeah so he's the smart and rugged cop that you get to see and then Jaideep is playing this very very very charming I wouldn't say charming actually very very dashing dawn if I had to put it who's very desi at heart but at the same time he's this person who likes to show like he's this rich poised man which he isn't.
02:08And you see bits and pieces of his desi-ness when the actual actual person inside him comes out and he's smashing people but he's the guy who loves money who loves business you can see him do that I guess is there anything I'm missing out on?
02:25Desi dashing dawn.
02:26Yeah desi dashing dawn.
02:27Yeah desi dashing dawn.
02:29Yeah.
02:30So that's that's all of us do I need to speak for Saif also?
02:37Yeah yeah please go ahead.
02:38Speak for Saif.
02:39Speak for Chadda.
02:40You can speak for Sid also if you like.
02:41So Saif is playing this.
02:42Saif is playing himself ya.
02:43Cool dashing.
02:44He's playing this cool guy who's out there to get get ahead of everybody do these really cool things steals the diamond you don't know what he's up to next he thinks five steps ahead sorry about that.
03:06Yeah thank you.
03:07He thinks five steps ahead he's he's very unpredictable but he's always got his game on point.
03:13That's Saif.
03:14Anybody else?
03:15Chadda.
03:16Chadda.
03:17Chadda is a very cool character.
03:20I think you should stop at some point.
03:22The most Kunal's partner in crime.
03:25I think I think.
03:26Well for a change I'm not the philosopher I'm the fighter and I don't.
03:36What happens is that all the parts that I play you know he's the peacemaker he's the moderator.
03:43He's the one trying to like get people together.
03:45This one doesn't give a shit.
03:46Right.
03:47This one's like a little missile who once he locks into something he will not stop no matter what the cost.
03:55Till he gets to what he wants to get to.
03:57So a very different from anything I've done before and thank God for it.
04:02Because what happens is that you know once people like you in a particular kind of role.
04:06It becomes very difficult for them to see you in something else.
04:09And I'm glad that you know Kuki, Robby, Sid they've you know written this role and thought of casting me in it.
04:18Because I've really really enjoyed it and it's been very different from anything else that I've done before.
04:29Well he was very nervous and then we sat him down and we said.
04:32We said Jaidip it's okay you can do this.
04:35He said how much time do I have?
04:36So I said 6 months.
04:37So then 6 months we've rehearsed roles.
04:40And then we had to use AI.
04:42And then we got an AI version of Jaidip that danced.
04:47Yeah.
04:48Can we say something?
04:496 months, every day 6 hours of rehearsal.
04:52These people have used AI.
04:54And then obviously we didn't have a lot of editing.
04:57I know.
04:584-5 days.
04:59But we finally managed it.
05:00We finally got it.
05:01We finally got it.
05:02We finally got it.
05:03The audience convinced me that this is Jaidip allowed dancing.
05:06I think the best thing about him and Mamta Maham that they're so…
05:16I think when they decided that this is the film we're gonna do.
05:19They knew what kind of cast and crew they want.
05:23So the clarity for these kind of films you need it was already there when I came on board.
05:29I don't know what they felt about it.
05:32But they were exactly like Mamta used to tell me that okay this is the kind of canvas for your costume we're looking for.
05:42And which was for me like wow this is too much.
05:46I mean but they knew it.
05:49Mm-hmm.
05:50Mm-hmm.
05:51Mm-hmm.
05:52Mm-hmm.
05:53Mm-hmm.
05:54Mm-hmm.
05:55They were already prepared for what they are making or the part.
05:58The part which was left there was only shooting of it.
06:01Mm-hmm.
06:02So that's how the clarity is.
06:04Otherwise what will happen?
06:05Because all films are tricky for the plot.
06:09Yeah.
06:10Yeah.
06:11That you reveal how much time you have to do it.
06:12And where to which point you have to do it.
06:14So if that clarity already is not.
06:17Mm-hmm.
06:18You might end up shooting different scenes or in a different mood.
06:22Yeah.
06:23True.
06:24Oh, this thing was revealed there.
06:25But it's here.
06:26That you can't do that.
06:27Yeah.
06:28Yeah.
06:29So the clarity was very, very right there.
06:32I think also to add on both of them they are very as he rightly said they are very precise.
06:38Mm-hmm.
06:39So if you have seen Sid Anand's films they are always very crisp.
06:42Yeah.
06:43They are fast moves.
06:44There is nothing unnecessary that is happening.
06:46Nothing feels dragged.
06:47Yeah.
06:48And more than anything like this is fully credit where due.
06:51Generally this industry unfortunately has a lot of people where we deal with egos and we deal with
06:57that if there is an issue let's solve it.
07:00Like quickly.
07:01Like Mamta very, very you know wisely says that everything is possible with communication.
07:14Everything is solvable.
07:15Yeah.
07:16And I swear to God I have seen that happen on set that every time there is an issue immediately
07:20it's resolved.
07:21Mm-hmm.
07:22So I guess that just generically in life is a great attitude to have.
07:25Mm-hmm.
07:26And especially when you are making a film.
07:27Mm-hmm.
07:28Because it just makes the working experience so smooth.
07:29Yeah.
07:30True.
07:31Actually exactly after Waking of a Nation I remember finishing Waking of a Nation in December
07:402023.
07:41Mm-hmm.
07:42And somewhere in Feb is when we got into Jool Thief.
07:45Mm-hmm.
07:46So that was back to back for me.
07:48And I think more than anything I was mentally very ready to do something more challenging because
07:55that was challenging enough in terms of performance whatever I have done so far in my career.
08:00And after that when this came I said wow this is like completely different a new challenge
08:04altogether.
08:05Yeah.
08:06So it's it's pretty much anything that an actor can ask for.
08:08Yeah.
08:09Honestly not much time.
08:15Mm-hmm.
08:16Physically I would say yes because that needed some kind of physical appearance that I was
08:22going up with for quite a period of time.
08:25Mm-hmm.
08:26I guess in fact it's very interesting because you come what go for it say.
08:30No, no, no.
08:31We all talk about the long term.
08:33We talk about it.
08:34We talk about it.
08:35We talk about it.
08:36Okay.
08:37So I guess it's just that bit of the physicality of it.
08:39But apart from that I guess this was also a great breather because that was a very serious
08:43show I came out of and suddenly into this world of Jhulti which is as you can see it's taken
08:50you back into the film charm that we like watching.
08:52Yeah.
08:53Yeah.
08:54So it's the best of both worlds.
08:55Mm-hmm.
09:00No, not at all.
09:01It's exactly the same actually.
09:03No, I don't think anything changes.
09:07I mean an OTT platform is or a theatre is just a distribution medium, right.
09:14But how you approach the film, what you do on a set is all exactly the same.
09:20I think the only difference is that also with platforms and stuff you can take a lot
09:26more risks which you might not take as far as theatrical is concerned because you know
09:32the box office numbers are really important.
09:34But besides that I don't think the approach is exactly the same.
09:38No check marks in that sense but when you read a script either it's a series or a film
09:53it should give you something to hang on to latch on actually that oh this is something
10:00very exciting or this is something very new or even if it's a story you have heard but
10:07the presentation is different.
10:09Mm-hmm.
10:10The feel is different.
10:11So something something you have to you know in a sense okay this is this is going to be
10:19new to you also for after on sets and you'll feel different while you will be doing it.
10:28And yeah I think that's the first thing.
10:31There has to be novelty.
10:32And then you'll meet your director, the team and you'll feel okay now we are in the same space
10:37we understand each other let's start with.
10:39So that's the I think first thing to begin.
10:43Very good.
