Call The Bailiffs Time To Pay Up S01E01
Transcript
00:00We're high-core enforcement agents, we've got a high-core bit, I'd like to sort this out face to face.
00:07Debt of over £12 billion are owed to people across the UK.
00:12£1200, I never got it back.
00:14And many of them struggle to get paid what they're due.
00:18It now looks like she's avoiding to deal with this matter.
00:21When all other attempts to settle a debt have failed...
00:24OK, so new jobs.
00:26Specialist enforcement agents are called in to recover what's owed.
00:30Your time of expiry has come.
00:32Armed with a High Court writ...
00:34All check-in debts are going to be placed until this matters resolved.
00:37The agents have the authority...
00:39If you think we're doing something illegal, call the police.
00:41Expertise...
00:43Everyone can be found. Where is it?
00:45And the backup...
00:46We've made contact, we know they're there.
00:48To settle debts that no one else can.
00:50Our agents are used as a last-chance saloon.
00:53They take payments in cash...
00:556,200 pounds.
00:57...or seize and sell possessions...
00:59The car has been taken to the troller.
01:00I need to walk!
01:02...to finally get the debt paid.
01:04This is 70 grand here.
01:06In these unprecedented times, agents are busier than ever.
01:10Oh, wanna put it in me?
01:12But the challenge to recover the money from those that won't pay...
01:15Doesn't mean it's difficult, is it?
01:16Nah, I think it won't be this one.
01:18...has never...
01:19Nam, don't touch me.
01:20...been greater.
01:21He's going to call his brothers.
01:23I don't think it's today.
01:24Every day, High Court enforcement agents are out on the streets of Britain.
01:36Well, here we go again.
01:39Another day in paradise.
01:40It's a good day.
01:43They're supported by an office-based team...
01:45Yep, that'd be fantastic.
01:47Give me a second and I'll pull up the case details.
01:49...who have a direct line to the people who need their money back.
01:53We have an address for that person.
01:56Please go ahead.
01:57We are sending it through to you now.
01:58We'll take it from there.
02:01But collecting debt is no easy task.
02:07And enforcement agents face abuse...
02:09Get up, North Street.
02:10Look.
02:11...on a daily basis.
02:12Hey, lads, lads, lads, don't cause an issue.
02:14I'm not talking to you, so shoot your mouth.
02:16Today, enforcement agents Alex and Sherry are heading to an address where Alex has experienced nothing but abuse in the past.
02:36We're heading to a company called Motor Aspirations.
02:40I have been there before and three times I was called all names, door slammed in my face.
02:45And I've been given the runaround.
02:49This is a judgement for a faulty car that was sold to our client.
02:55So today, we're sending Alex and Sherry out.
02:58We're looking to seize goods so that we can either get payment, or if that's not forthcoming, then we'll sell the goods.
03:06And then that will achieve the amount that's due under the writ.
03:09They've already been to the business address and found no evidence of the company, but Sherry has been doing some research.
03:18On the internet, they've definitely got cars and vans for sale, so if we can match up some of them on their site to what's at home, then maybe we've got a link.
03:32It'll be interesting if they answer the door.
03:38Well, we can live in hope.
03:43As they pull up to an address connected to the company.
03:46Right, I'm going to have a look.
03:49Sherry is on the lookout for assets.
03:54Can you see the Navara? That's the one.
03:57Alex, that Navara is the same vehicle that he's got on his website for Motor Aspirations.
04:03Okay.
04:05It's time to speak to the company director.
04:09This is the house we're coming to.
04:12And there we go.
04:15Let's go back down here.
04:17All right, sir, I'm back again.
04:19No, no, no. I need to have a chat with you, sir.
04:21This car belongs to Motor Car Aspirations, sir, as far as we're concerned.
04:25Okay, that's what it is.
04:26No, can I have a word with you? Let's end this. Surely you want to end this.
04:31There you go.
04:34Coin is a good choice.
04:39Alex and KC are heading to a shopping center.
04:45And it's like full of housewares. You know, the houseware shops.
04:48Well, I don't know.
04:49Do you have a name of the hardware here?
04:51No, no, no. Housewares.
04:53There's no real words such as housewares.
04:56Housewares is a British term and it's, there's lots of other...
04:59Well, it can't be that British because I've never owned it.
05:01It just means things that you've used in the house, I guess.
05:05Obviously.
05:06I bet you were up all night thinking of that one.
05:08I was.
05:10The shop might stock things for the house, but they haven't been making their suppliers feel at home.
05:16I understand you're on your way to a job in Croydon.
05:20This particular debt is concerning unpaid invoices to a small business and it's been ongoing for a couple of years.
05:26The business owner is particularly stressed about the debt, so we're going to try and get his money back for him.
05:31So I've actually allocated it to Alex and Casey to make an attendance today.
05:38The company that has owed the money may be struggling themselves because people haven't paid their invoices.
05:45But three years, like that's absolutely ridiculous.
05:49Hey, long legs, slow down.
05:52Team effort.
05:54Alex and Casey will finally try to get the supplier's money back today.
06:00Here we go.
06:05Hello, gents.
06:06Hiya.
06:07Who's in charge?
06:10Yeah, so who's the boss of Regan Kitchenware?
06:13Is that you?
06:15Unfortunately, the director of the business is not in the building.
06:20Could you get him on the phone, please?
06:21What you need to do is explain to him that we're here to execute a high court writ today for an amount of money that he owes.
06:28You need this down well.
06:30That is? Yes.
06:32The fact that it's not paid today, we've got rows and rows of stock.
06:36We would have to lock the doors. Trading would cease for today.
06:39One of the staff gets his boss on the phone.
06:43Perfect. Hello, then. We're here to execute a high court writ.
06:47But he's not interested in paying up.
06:49So, if you've never had anything to do with them, why are they saying that you owe them money?
06:54I'm going to be very straight with you, okay?
06:57Either the amount that we're here for is paid, or we're removing everything from the shop.
07:01I do understand. I do understand.
07:04Okay, well, as I said, we've now got about 15 minutes in order to pay the amount.
07:08I suggest you call your solicitor, who will tell you we have every one.
07:11Okay, then don't pay it, sir. You've just refused payment, so we'll carry on with doing what we're doing.
07:19Alex gives the man 15 minutes to pay what he owes, or the agents will start seizing goods.
07:33Coming up, Casey and Alex turn up the heat.
07:36We require the services of a locksmith to attend to change all the locks from the premises.
07:42And things get personal for Alex and Sherry.
07:45You want to shag him? You want to come back from your next to him?
07:47I need to have a chat with you, sir.
08:03Enforcement agents Alex and Sherry are at a home address linked to a car sales company.
08:09They're trying to recover over £14,000 after a customer was sold a car that turned out to be faulty.
08:19Can I have a word with you? Let's end this. Surely you want to end this.
08:23But so far, all they've been given is abuse.
08:26What's the problem? Who are you looking for?
08:28Okay, motor aspiration.
08:31You're not fucking registered here.
08:32Mr.
08:33Why are you shouting? We're not shouting at you, clearly.
08:37Mr. Zahi Hussain is the director of Motor Aspirations.
08:42Motor Aspirations.
08:43That's fine.
08:46But why are you getting so irate? Why can't you have a sense of pricks on the property?
08:52It's very difficult when you're going to somebody's home, into the castle, and they know that you're there to take something away.
09:03Let me explain to you. Let me explain to you.
09:06Give me five seconds because I'm closing the door.
09:08So things will be said in the heat of the moment.
09:11That is part of the job.
09:13Obviously, you don't want to sort this out. You're refusing to sort it out. Can't prove.
09:18But why, why are you so irate?
09:23But if you're going to take everything personal, then you shouldn't be doing this job.
09:28You shouldn't.
09:32As everyone they've spoken to is refusing to cooperate, Alex and Sherry look for more company assets they could seize.
09:40We found a Nissan, and Sherry went onto the web and it's actually been sold by Motor Aspirations Limited.
09:51Because this car, they're selling at nine, so retail value would be about seven, huh?
09:56Yeah.
09:58There's a Range Rover.
10:01O5 plate.
10:02Oh, Alex. This one. Is it this one? W-O-J?
10:08Yeah, that's the W-O-J. This is what's that one.
10:12This one is on the site as well.
10:14Since we've got that, that they're selling them from Motor Aspirations, we can take them.
10:21Because as far as we're concerned, these vehicles on the drive do belong to Motor Aspirations.
10:25Until they can prove to us that they don't, we're going to have to do something.
10:30With three cars being sold by the company parked outside the address...
10:37He's knocking and running.
10:40Alex tries again.
10:42Hello? Right, what's happening is we know for a fact that that vehicle is Motor Aspirations.
10:49This vehicle is Motor Aspirations.
10:51Okay, can I, can I show you that according to company's house, it is registered as active and Zahir Hussain is the director.
11:06Those people do not live here.
11:08So those cars belong to who?
11:10None of your business.
11:12The agents want to find out if the man they saw in the house earlier is the company director.
11:18Why won't the gentleman come out and speak?
11:22Okay, alright.
11:23Do you want to shag him? Do you want to come back with your legs to him? Why do you want the gentleman?
11:27Oh, you're classy, aren't you?
11:29Why do you want the gentleman?
11:31She was scared.
11:33Anybody can call me anything. I've been called every name in every language.
11:37And it doesn't bother me, no.
11:39The name calling is not going to help. Let's solve this problem.
11:45In this house, who you've spoken to is not Zahir Hussain. I'm not Zahir Hussain. The company is not registered here.
11:54So why are the vehicles outside here?
11:56It's none of your business.
11:57It is my business. That's why I'm sent out here.
11:59That's fine. I'm not going to go that far.
12:01And I've told you the business is not running.
12:03And I've told you they'll be fearful of nothing to do with that company.
12:06You've landed on my property, which I've told you to get off.
12:09No, this is a writ from the High Court.
12:10Since it seems no one at the property is willing to discuss the debt, let alone pay it.
12:19Well, let me get the clamps on now.
12:21Alex and Sherry begin the process of seizing cars they believe are linked to the company.
12:2914,000.
12:31Yeah.
12:32We're going to need to take three or four cars.
12:34So you're on a big truck then?
12:36Then...
12:37Hey, somebody's coming out now.
12:40There's a chance to speak with the man they saw earlier.
12:43Sir, can we sort this out?
12:47Can we not discuss this, sir?
12:50He's going to call his brothers.
12:52He's going to call his...
12:53His brothers.
12:54I don't think it's to pay that.
13:01Household financial debt in Britain is nearly £120 billion.
13:05So they owe £18,432 for unpaid student rent.
13:15And the average total debt per household is over £60,000.
13:20There's a bill outstanding of £2,207 in 1970.
13:24Enforcement agents Mark and Virgil are on their way to collect an unpaid bill of nearly £2,000.
13:36I've been to his property twice before.
13:37I've tried to talk her into having... making a payment and basically told me where to go through the window.
13:50The claimant's a PPI company.
13:53So the PPI company's done some work for her.
13:56She's got a massive refund and hasn't paid the company for all the hard work they've done.
14:02In 2011, the High Court made a decision that the banks would have to repay customers who were missold PPI.
14:12So this writ is for about £2,000 which we're recovering on behalf of the company who instructed to reclaim the PPI.
14:22The actual customer has had their compensation back but hasn't paid the commission.
14:30We have to go and collect that commission.
14:32You could look at it as you just had a pipe burst and you're getting a plumber around.
14:35He's done all the work and say, look, I'm paying you.
14:38I'll tell you what, the only CCJ I had was through PPI.
14:41Yeah.
14:42Because I was in the army, I got a refund when I was in Afghanistan.
14:46OK.
14:47So I went into my bank account and because I didn't receive the paperwork, the next minute the bailiff was knocking at my mum's door.
14:54OK.
14:55That's the quickest thing I've ever paid in my life.
14:57So, yeah, I've been in this situation.
14:59Having been eluded by the woman twice before.
15:12I'll tell you what's Mel there in the parcel.
15:15Mark looks for signs that she's inside the house today.
15:24Hello.
15:26Has she got lights on?
15:27Sorry?
15:28There's lights on.
15:34There may only be frozen assets in the garden.
15:38But there's a car parked outside the property that could be of interest.
15:43Yep.
15:44I've done some DVLA check.
15:45Almost had it come back if his debtor's not registered keeper.
15:49Right.
15:50But is it related to the property or the family?
15:55This could be the leverage you're looking for.
15:58If the agents find anything that leads them to believe the woman owns the car, it could be seized and sold to pay the debt.
16:05I'm sure he's not going to let this go.
16:14Alex and KC have tracked down the owner of a shop who owes over £6,000 to one of his suppliers.
16:21He claims that he's never heard of the company who allegedly owes the money to.
16:27So that's his claim.
16:28Alex has given him 15 minutes to pay what he owes before they start seizing goods to recover the debt.
16:37Right, sir, as the owner of the person here is in charge, I'm just telling you now, he's got a very limited period of time, okay, before we start listing goods to assist paying for the bill.
16:46He must have, what, probably £50,000, £60,000 worth of stock here, at least, if not more.
16:51For a debt that is, you know, just under £7,000, it would be madness to allow a removal or a seizure of goods.
17:00People do a number of different things to avoid paying, giving every single excuse under the sun as to why they can't pay it, or why they haven't paid it up until our visit.
17:10I think he's in the process of trying to contact his lawyer and see what his lawyer has to say.
17:15Sometimes you'll turn up at places where quite clearly they have the money, and it's more along the lines of that they don't want to pay, rather than they can't.
17:23He's in defensive mode at the moment, so what he'll be doing is he'll be calling anyone and everyone about how to avoid it, how to get out of it and not pay it.
17:32Anyways, he's got one minute left, Alex.
17:34As the deadline approaches, the owner calls back.
17:37If you spoke to your solicitor, he would tell you that.
17:40But he is still refusing to pay.
17:42I'm not shouting. This isn't me shouting, I can assure you.
17:47OK, I'm not the one shouting. OK, we've now reached the stage two, so we're going to be calling a locksmith now, OK? I'm just letting you know.
17:57As the man won't pay back the money he owes...
18:01Hello, locksmiths.
18:02The goods in the store will now be seized.
18:05So we're at a commercial premises that we're going to be seizing the goods inside, so we require the services of a locksmith to attend to change all the locks on the premises.
18:13Coming up, Mark and Virgil...
18:18It's to do with your PPI.
18:20...make a final demand.
18:23How do I have to pay, Carl? Cash or goods?
18:26And Alex and Sherry...
18:27Do your homework properly.
18:28...meet their match.
18:30I am not the director of Motor Aspirations Ltd. Prove this in front of your TV crew.
18:35There are nearly six million small businesses in the UK.
18:54It was a full company, I think.
18:55They were getting into there.
18:56They left for my lashes.
18:57But around 50,000 of them close every year due to late payments.
19:09Who owns this?
19:12You're the owner.
19:13Right, because we've got a High Court writ for this person at this address.
19:24Hello there, sir.
19:25Alex and KC are trying to recover a debt of over £6,000 from the owner of a kitchenware shop.
19:32You're his sister, so you know the procedure.
19:34Who is refusing to pay.
19:37At this present moment in time, if he doesn't pay the amount that's owed within the next 40 minutes,
19:43the locksmith will be changing all the locks, which will go onto his bill as well.
19:48I don't know how else to dress it up for him, I'm afraid.
19:52We're directed to either receive payment of this today or we are ordered to lock the shop up.
19:58Have a chat with him and we'll wait for your call.
20:01Cheers.
20:02Bye-bye.
20:03That was the solicitor we just called.
20:05So we're now onto stage two, which has cost them more money, unfortunately.
20:09If they don't pay their debts at the stage that we're offering it, it will go up.
20:14And if it goes to stage three and we have to...
20:16Yeah, about another £1,000 on top.
20:17Yes, plus obviously the locksmith of the changing of the locks,
20:20including the screen door on the top for the mall.
20:23And they find themselves even in deeper debt as well.
20:25And that's exactly what will happen if they don't take their head out of the sand.
20:29Okay.
20:30So the amount that is owed at this stage is £6,688.53.
20:37After speaking with his client, the lawyer calls back.
20:41Okay.
20:42Yep.
20:43That's absolutely fine.
20:44So I'll speak to you...
20:45What I'll do is I'll give you a ring when it's all resolved, okay?
20:48Cheers.
20:49Bye-bye.
20:50The lawyer tells Alex the owner will pay.
20:54Hello there, madam. It's Alex here. I just called you about a locksmith. The matter's now been resolved so you can call your locksmith off.
21:01Alright, thank you.
21:03But then, the owner gets back on the phone.
21:06Hi, I've just spoken to your solicitor.
21:08And now, he wants to negotiate.
21:11We can't do anything about the amount that's owed.
21:13Okay, so you are going to have to transfer the amount that's owed.
21:16Your solicitor would have told you this.
21:18Can't do that.
21:19They won't accept half of it.
21:21No. I'll tell you what.
21:22We can take a card payment over the phone, if that's easier for you.
21:26Alright.
21:27Give them a call and then we'll speak to you in a little while after you've made some calls, alright?
21:30Alright.
21:33That's normal as well.
21:34Yeah.
21:35They then say that, can we pay some of it?
21:36Even though they know the exact amount, they just...
21:38In this instance, we couldn't accept that because of the stock that's here.
21:41So, you know, it would have to be settled in full.
21:45Sure enough, minutes later, the owner calls back.
21:50How are you getting on?
21:52I'll send it to you now.
21:54Alright, bye-bye.
21:55Finally...
21:56668853.
21:57After three years of waiting...
21:59Has it come in?
22:00The supplier is getting their money back.
22:02Yes. Perfect.
22:03I've just given you a quick ring to say that we've received the money.
22:06I've left the receipt here, okay?
22:09Cheers.
22:10Thank you, sir.
22:12As Alex and KC move on to another job...
22:15You know, this is what the court process is there for.
22:17You know...
22:22Mark and Virgil are attempting to speak to a woman who owes nearly £2,000 to a PPI claims company.
22:30Do another battle, shall they?
22:32They suspect the vehicle parked outside the house could belong to the woman.
22:38Yeah, let's get an idea.
22:39So if she doesn't pay, they might be able to seize the car.
22:48Oh, somebody's here.
22:49Yeah?
22:50Come here again, Mark.
22:51Basically.
22:52It's to do with your PPI.
22:53Nothing's been paid or settled and they sent us out again.
22:54Okay.
22:55Bye.
22:56And currently, it's £1,964.91.
22:57Okay.
22:58How would you like to pay?
22:59Card, cash or goods?
23:00Um...
23:01Is it alright to sort out a payment?
23:03The thing is with PPI, it's very hard because the PPI company know that you've had a lump sum paid and they've deemed it's either it's in the bank or it's you've got a nice asset somewhere and I can't see your Porsche.
23:18I know I've got an actual car, I don't even have to take that away.
23:19What?
23:20And the tools in the back.
23:21But this company wants their money back.
23:22That's the thing.
23:23I'm looking to see what I've bought from the bank.
23:25That's all I've asked for.
23:26Yep.
23:27The woman shows money.
23:28The thing is with PPI, it's very hard because the PPI company know that you've had a lump sum paid and they've deemed it's either it's in the bank or it's you've got a nice asset somewhere.
23:31And I can't see your Porsche.
23:32I know I've got an actual car.
23:33I don't even have to take that away.
23:34What?
23:35And the tools in the back.
23:36But this company wants their money back.
23:37That's the thing.
23:38Looking to see what I've bought from the bank.
23:40That's all I've asked for.
23:41Yep.
23:46The woman shows Mark a bank account.
23:49She doesn't have enough to cover the debt.
23:52Is that your best offer?
23:54That is.
23:55Honest to God, that is.
23:56Because I'm not working.
23:58I think empathy is the most important thing that you can have in this job.
24:02But it's not our fault they got into that situation.
24:06I do sympathize, but.
24:07I know.
24:08That is why it's not working.
24:09And 99% of the time is because they buried their head in the sand or just because they didn't answer that letter.
24:17The woman asks if she can pay the bill off in instalments.
24:21But as she's already received a payout from her PPI claim, Mark knows their client is unlikely to accept that offer.
24:31They're just going to call the office and see what we can do.
24:34But it's going to, it's very hard to push a payment plan forward for PPI.
24:37I've got to understand that.
24:40Yeah, yeah.
24:41It's £1,000 second page.
24:43Basically, we just don't want to come back.
24:49Thank you very much, sir.
24:51Bye-bye, sir.
24:52Bye.
24:53Bye-bye.
24:54Bye-bye.
24:55Bye-bye.
24:56Bye-bye.
24:58Bye-bye.
24:59Bye-bye.
25:00Bye-bye.
25:02Bye-bye.
25:03It's crunch time.
25:04Either she pays in full or Mark and Virgil might be taking the car.
25:15Alex and KC have travelled north to visit a property that Alex has been to before.
25:42He's definitely been a very naughty boy, this one.
25:44Has he?
25:45This debt is in relation to unpaid fees for solicitors costs and a CCJ was issued around about 18 months ago.
25:52We've located an address for the defendant and that's where we've dispatched our agents.
25:59I visited this chap about 10 days ago and I asked for this gentleman and he was not in at the time of the visit.
26:09But he called me and said that he will have the money in a week's time and he'll pay him full.
26:18So a week came and went and he hasn't paid him full.
26:22He then texted me again and said, sorry about that, I'm getting the funds and can you send me your bank details?
26:30So I sent in the bank details and Monday came and went and there was nothing.
26:34It's just corner house.
26:35Yeah, there it is.
26:36Okay, perfect.
26:44Alex, side door's open.
26:46Hello, ma'am.
26:47Can you come down to the window, please?
26:49Thank you very much.
26:50What happened last one?
26:52He's coming down.
26:53Hello, ma'am.
26:54How are you?
26:55Hello.
26:56Do you remember I was here last time?
26:57We're looking for your nephew.
26:58Is he home?
26:59Is he at work?
27:00Okay, can you get him on the phone, please?
27:03Because we've had to come back now twice and we have a court warrant, a writ for him.
27:07And what a warrant or writ is, is that usually we can take goods.
27:12It's the last warning that he's getting.
27:15She's yelling at him on the phone.
27:17Yeah, I'm not surprised.
27:19Yeah, I think she's frustrated because I believe that he hasn't informed her that he hasn't done anything about it.
27:24Yeah, because he's a family member.
27:26And I think that...
27:27She's not happy.
27:28No, but that's why he called last time.
27:30Okay.
27:31Yeah.
27:32Hello, ma'am.
27:33Did you get him on the phone?
27:37Yes, please.
27:38That would be great.
27:39We can speak to him now that I can hear you talking to him.
27:40It's not time for games anymore.
27:42He said that he was going to pay, but he didn't.
27:44So we just need to know what happened.
27:46You just spoke to him on the phone.
27:48I heard you speaking to him.
27:50So get him back on the phone, please.
27:52Uh-huh.
27:53And what we don't like is these games.
27:55So we're being very nice saying, okay, we talk, we talk, we pay, done, or we get it, you know, resolved.
28:00When people try to play games with me or my teammate, I think it's a challenge.
28:04Madam, can you tell him this is the last chance now?
28:07So get him to call us and resolve the matter.
28:10I'm not going to lie.
28:11A little bit of a smirk inside me kind of smiles and says, oh, well, this is going to be a fun one.
28:16It's the same story as last time, to be honest with you.
28:20He's not here, allegedly.
28:22But hopefully he'll now realize that this is getting a little bit out of hand.
28:26You have to be a good investigator.
28:27You have to be able to, you know, think outside the box.
28:30So we got here.
28:31I'm just curious.
28:32The number the woman was calling is not the one the agents have for the debtor.
28:37I know.
28:38Who?
28:39Your brother.
28:40His father.
28:41Right.
28:42At this point, the auntie is very, very helpful.
28:45It's her property.
28:46He does live here.
28:47She called his father on the phone, which is her brother, and to say this is what's happening.
28:52At this point, we're just going to wait to see if he calls.
28:55But I think the family's going to give him a nudge.
28:59Who's dad's coming?
29:00Oh, OK.
29:01Right now?
29:02How long?
29:03How long?
29:04All right.
29:05We're waiting in the car.
29:06We're waiting in the car.
29:07Thank you very much.
29:08All right.
29:09Just five minutes later, the debtor's dad arrives.
29:14Got the IT car.
29:17Hello, sir.
29:18So you're his father, are you?
29:21He's got an outstanding amount and he hasn't paid since last year.
29:24He owes a balance of £2,173.12.
29:29Do you want to pay it for him, yeah?
29:31Sorry to pull you out today.
29:32Grab your card there.
29:34Enter your pin for me, please.
29:35That's it.
29:36That's your copy.
29:38We really appreciate the effort you've made as well.
29:41We did try to work with him, but obviously he's had some issues going on.
29:44We understand.
29:45It's all done now, all settled, and hopefully we don't have to see you again in this light.
29:49Thank you for your assistance.
29:50A lot of people have to turn to their relatives.
29:52They don't have the money themselves.
29:54And you'll find that they realize that this debt was something that this person could have resolved.
29:58So relatives always come to the rescue at some point.
30:04Rain or shine, we're in the mood today.
30:06We feel it.
30:07It's got that vibe.
30:08On to the next one.
30:09Excellent.
30:10Alex and Sherry are clamping vehicles linked to a car sales company that owes over £10,000 to one of their customers.
30:26He's going to call his brothers.
30:27He's going to call his?
30:28His brothers.
30:29He's going to call his?
30:30His brothers.
30:31I don't think it's too big that I can tell you.
30:36As they work, the street starts to get busier.
30:41I think the three guys over the road are something to do with it.
30:48Yeah.
30:49Yeah.
30:50Yeah.
30:51That's right.
30:54Hiya.
30:55Yeah.
30:56Well, who are you?
30:58Alright.
30:59Being in a situation that's aggressive, always put yourself in a position where you've got exits.
31:10Keep your eye out.
31:11Basically, it's just be away.
31:12Look for any areas you can move away.
31:13I'm always alert.
31:14Well, we've clamped this vehicle.
31:15We've clamped that vehicle.
31:16Nine times out of ten, a lot of people would turn around and say, when they see that the
31:32vehicle, the ambulance sees that, hey, let me pay this money.
31:35It's serious.
31:36I'm going to lose these vehicles.
31:38The agents have been on the street for two hours.
31:41And finally, the man they've been looking for shows up.
31:46Yes, sir.
31:47Sorry.
31:48Which way are you going?
31:51I'm trying to tell you, sir.
31:53Is Mr Hussein here?
31:55Which Hussein are you, sir?
31:57Um...
31:58Oh, Yusuf, yeah.
31:59Okay.
32:00It's a High Court Rit.
32:01High Court Rit 4.
32:02Motor Aspirations Limited.
32:03Limited.
32:04Yeah.
32:05Can I have a look at it, please?
32:06Yeah, sure.
32:07This is it over here.
32:08This is what's old.
32:09Can I have a look at that?
32:10Yeah.
32:11This should have never escalated to this if they would have just listened to us and got
32:19hold of you to come and see us.
32:21It would have never got to the stage.
32:22I gave them ample opportunity.
32:24So unfortunately, this is where we're at.
32:27Right.
32:28Basically, a route has been issued out against you.
32:30Okay?
32:31For an amount only.
32:32Come on.
32:33Yeah, but you're the director of the company, sir.
32:34No, I'm not.
32:35You say you are the here, you say.
32:36Yeah.
32:37I'm not the director of Motor Aspirations Limited.
32:38Okay.
32:39Well, come here.
32:40So who wants to say I'm not the director?
32:41Mm-hmm.
32:42Come on.
32:43Since Alex checked earlier in the day, it seems the company has had a change of director.
32:56What does that say?
32:57Reside.
32:58Yeah, I'm not the director.
33:01Mr. Hussain may have resigned as director, but as the cars are still linked to the company,
33:08they can still be seized.
33:12Motor Aspirations is selling these vehicles.
33:14No, they're not.
33:15Obviously, you know.
33:16Show me the adwords.
33:17I will correct you again.
33:18Show me the adwords.
33:19A live adwords.
33:20I will correct you.
33:21Because this is going to cost me a big money.
33:23I suggest.
33:24Sir, I'm only doing a job.
33:25Please, I'm not getting seized today.
33:26I'll tell you that right now.
33:27I'll tell you that right now.
33:28I'll tell you that right now.
33:29You've seen the phones.
33:30Do your homework properly.
33:31No, I have.
33:32I have already, sir.
33:33I have already.
33:34No, they can't be seized.
33:35I have already.
33:36I have already.
33:37I have already advertised by Motor Aspirations Limited Live.
33:40I'm the live director.
33:41I am not the director of Motor Aspirations Limited.
33:43Prove this in front of us to me now.
33:45Where is the link?
33:48Can I see the adwords, please?
33:49The second time I'm asking you.
33:51Yeah, and I'm just looking.
33:52It's in front of your TV crew.
33:53Can you show me that now, please?
33:54Oh, you've seen Motor Aspirations.
33:57And if you scroll through here, you will see several of these vehicles.
34:01Yeah, but none of these vehicles are owned by Motor Aspirations Limited.
34:03So why is Motor Aspirations advertising them then?
34:07Look, that says Motor Aspirations, yeah?
34:10Does it?
34:13Hello?
34:14You've already seen it.
34:15You're just going round in circles.
34:24Coming up, it's the end of the road.
34:28He's refusing.
34:29They're trying to put the clamps on the time.
34:31For Motor Aspirations.
34:33Right, the police are coming.
34:34Right, the police are coming.
34:51Agents have seized cars linked to Motor Aspirations.
34:55A car sales company in debt for 14,000 pounds.
35:00But their ex-director is claiming they don't belong to the business.
35:05Invoice is not proof.
35:07You, sir, had the car sales.
35:09You know that.
35:10You know.
35:11What is proof then?
35:12We look at the registration books.
35:14That's what we like.
35:15Registration books, they won't be owned.
35:17They will be in trade.
35:20Then, can you see the difficulty now we're going to have?
35:23Yes.
35:24The difficulty with no registration books.
35:26Invoices only show which individual bought the cars.
35:30So, Mr Hussain must find another way to prove the vehicles don't belong to the business.
35:36Yes.
35:37Yes, you have the documentation.
35:38Yes, I've got the documentation.
35:39Yes, I've got the documentation.
35:40Let's have it.
35:41Yes, that's what I want to wait for once the lorry comes.
35:42They don't want to show it there.
35:43Okay.
35:44You're not taking that part.
35:46But what's the point of not showing us now?
35:49He hasn't got it.
35:50After more searching, Mr Hussain thinks he's found the paperwork Alex is after.
35:59That's the address.
36:01No title.
36:02No letter here.
36:03There's no DVLA headline.
36:04There's nothing.
36:05There's no DVLA headline.
36:06There's nothing.
36:07You could have printed that on the computer.
36:10That means nothing, boss.
36:14I'm tired now, honestly.
36:16I think by now we all know where we stand.
36:19Having failed to prove ownership, Mr Hussain must either pay the £14,000 owed or the cars will be towed.
36:38Mark and Virgil have reached a stalemate in negotiations with a woman who owes nearly £2,000 to a PPI claims company.
36:48Ring him first because he's going to be the first point, you know, see where it can go, you know.
36:53She's offered to pay in instalments, but she's already received a payout for the claim.
37:00So the company want what they're owed today.
37:03Who's it, Sonny?
37:04She gets her husband on the phone.
37:07Hiya.
37:08We tried to push a payment plan forward and they haven't accepted it for one reason or another.
37:12Personally, I'd have taken it because it's freezing and we can get out of here.
37:16But unfortunately, we don't have a choice in the matter.
37:20We did value the snowman, it's not worth a lot, unfortunately.
37:23Should have put some gold earrings on it, it would be nice.
37:26£1,964.91, please.
37:34We are very stereotyped, OK? Everyone believes that we are thugs.
37:38Especially six-foot, bald-headed geezer, stocky.
37:41They expect us to start climbing through the windows, that's not the case.
37:44Once you've made it, we can call the office.
37:46They can say it's in, we issue a receipt and CCJ will be gone in a few days.
37:50People think we are getting the bogcroppers out, but that's not the case.
37:54Most of the time.
37:55Thank you ever so much. Thank you, bye.
37:58So, I'll check the debtor with respect.
38:00End of the day, they are someone's husband, wife, mum, dad, son, daughter.
38:06With the thumbs up from the debtor...
38:08I'll check it.
38:10..and a call to the office to confirm...
38:12Hi, Becca. I need you to quickly check an account because I'm freezing outside here.
38:22Perfect, perfect.
38:24The fee for the PPI claim is finally paid in full.
38:29OK, you take care.
38:31Bye-bye. Bye.
38:35Well, at least the client's going to get his money.
38:37She's happy it's been all sorted out.
38:42As Mark and Virgil slide along to another customer...
38:46The trucks apparently are near.
38:54Back in Ai-Wickham.
38:56The trouble starts now when the actual start removing.
39:01Alex and Sherry are waiting for the tow trucks to arrive.
39:04It may get to the stage where we may have to call the police for a breach of peace.
39:10I think they're pretty much going to sit in them or climb on them.
39:13The law states that if you're sitting in a vehicle, the police will remove you and you will get arrested.
39:19While they wait, the office calls with another development.
39:24It's boss. All right.
39:28OK, boss. All right.
39:30OK, bye.
39:32Those vehicles that were on the website, you know, those that were being sold, they're just saying that they've been taken off the website.
39:39OK.
39:40Everybody obviously knew that we were here and...
39:43That's the most important.
39:45So you can see all the links that are coming around for us.
39:49It's very rare we'll meet somebody, knock on the door and they'll tell you,
39:52OK, mate, I'll pay you the money.
39:54Very rare.
39:55Everybody will try.
39:58Someone's been on and taken.
40:00Hello, can I call you back, please?
40:01That's interesting.
40:04People today, they'll look for all the excuses.
40:07But like I always say, if you take it, you've got to pay it back.
40:13Mr. Hussein's options have run out and with the tow trucks on their way...
40:19It's hiking up now.
40:20...Alex decides to call the police.
40:23Good afternoon. I've seized three vehicles and the tow truck is on its way to be removing.
40:30I'm afraid I think there's going to be a breach of peace.
40:33So I'm phoning to say, is there anything that we can do?
40:35Has there been a breach of peace yet?
40:38Not yet. The tow trucks are coming and he keeps insisting these vehicles are not going to move.
40:49To pay for the three tow trucks, another £2,000 is added to the debt.
40:54As you can see, the trucks have come and now it's going, the police have been notified they'll be on their way.
41:05And hopefully we should get things done.
41:08Boss, we can start.
41:10Yeah, let's start.
41:11Yeah.
41:15It is an offence to obstruct the removal of a car in the control of enforcement agents with the High Court writ.
41:23So Alex gets back on the phone to the police.
41:27He's refusing. They're trying to put the clamps on the car and he's refusing to get the truck to remove.
41:31No, he's standing out now. He's refusing anyone to come close. So I'm just getting back.
41:43Right, the police are coming. Are we talking now, Mr. Usai?
41:46Yeah, we're talking. Move the trucks and then just get down.
41:50You had all the time to say to me there by the car. Now when the trucks came, it escalated another 2,000 at least.
41:57I can't. I've just contacted the police. I had to phone them.
42:01Well, is there any way you can move the truck at least?
42:04They won't. They won't move until they get the instruction from us.
42:07He's desperate for the trucks to go because they're across the road, obviously, but there's no way they're going until he's paid.
42:20After spending four hours denying that the cars belong to the company and refusing to pay, Mr. Usain seems to have had a change of heart.
42:30Can we pay my card? Let me just explain. If the money is not paid now by bank transfer, we're going to remove the vehicles.
42:41There's no card. It's got to be the full payment of 16,736.48.
42:49Yeah, okay. I'll arrange it. And can you move the trucks as well?
42:53No, no. We only move once. It's paid.
42:57Hold, hold. 16,000.
43:00736.
43:02What's the problem?
43:04If you can do that now, so then we'll stop.
43:08Here you are, Alex. I'm the one that's home.
43:12We were removing these vehicles. There was a bit of a problem. The gentleman was kicking off.
43:17And all of a sudden, when the trucks turn up...
43:20Easy works, didn't it?
43:23Yes.
43:25With a phone call from the office to confirm...
43:28Hello, Chris. Yes, sir. It's going to the...
43:31It's paid. Thank you.
43:34Nice work.
43:36The ordeal is finally over.
43:38Let me get these clamps off.
43:40And the unsuspecting customer with a faulty car...
43:43You're going to have that one. Oh, thank you.
43:45...will finally get their money back.
43:47Thank you very much.
43:48Thanks a lot, officers. Thank you.
43:54Oh, that was a result, wasn't it?
43:57It's funny. He just suddenly found the money.
44:00Yeah. He realised that it was...
44:02Yes.
44:03It was inevitable.
44:04Next time...
44:05Hopefully, in and out, 10 minutes, full payment. Job done.
44:07...collecting against the clock...
44:08And you can do it in 30 minutes.
44:09Is it half past yet?
44:10...gathering inside information...
44:11It's never visible, it's wise or wise.
44:12Yeah.
44:13...and the disappearing debtors.
44:15Alex, are they getting you another card?
44:17Okay. Well, they're leaving.
44:19Everyone can be found. I can assure you, everyone can be found.
44:21Oh, my son!
44:22Catch all that new next Monday at 9.
44:23And if you or someone you know has been affected by any of the issues in tonight's programme, please go to channel5.com slash helplines for information and stuff.
44:28Next tonight, icy conditions have got patients rushing into casualty 24-7.
44:31And if you or someone you know has been affected by any of the issues in tonight's programme, please go to channel5.com slash helplines for information and support.
