00:00Riff TV presents Meltdown's Meltdown.
00:11Oh, hey everybody. Welcome back to my office.
00:14Hey listen, it's your last week to get signed up for the Riff's Top of VIB.
00:18That's $5,000 in cash, concert tickets, a trip to Vegas as well.
00:22Which is pretty cool considering what we're going to do
00:25if I was in charge of the VIB prize giveaway.
00:28Anyway, check this out.
00:34Ken, Meltdown wants part of this VIB prize to be sitting in the studio with him every day.
00:41Meltdown's a jackass. We want people to try to win this prize so they'll enjoy it.
00:45We could always give away video cassettes.
00:51How about bobbleheads? Everybody loves bobbleheads.
00:58Or we could give away whatever this is.
01:08Let's go see what the lady at the front desk has to offer.
01:12Alright, listen. The VIB thing is very important.
01:14We need some kick-ass prizes. Where's the prize closet?
01:16Hey! Lady at the front desk! I'm locked in!
01:34Hello?
01:38Lady at the front desk?
01:40Alright, so what the promotions department came about might be a little bit better than what I had in mind.
01:48Whatever.
01:49Somebody becomes the Riff's Top VIB May 2nd, Thursday at Capone's on the East Side.
01:54I'll be broadcasting live. Be sure to stop on by and join us.
01:57In the meantime, check out my Talkin' Rock with Meltdown podcast.
02:00My latest guest is Damon Johnson.
02:02He was with Brother Kane, Blackstar Riders, of course, Alice Cooper now doing his solo thing.
02:06I had to ask him about being on stage with Alice Cooper.
02:09It's like, what could go wrong at a Cooper show?
02:12Well, apparently, this.
02:14Yeah, man. The biggest one was the very first night.
02:18You know, I got the gig and I had about a week of rehearsals with the band, minus Coop.
02:24He wasn't there.
02:26But we were running on the songs and they were saying, you know, they made notes on the set list.
02:30Like, hey man, right here, make sure you're not on stage right because they're going to roll the guillotine out here.
02:36And then here's another song where Alice is going to have on the straitjacket.
02:40And then at the end of Billion Dollar Babies, watch out because he'll have the sword and he's throwing the dollar bills.
02:45You know, that kind of stuff.
02:47Well, we played the first show in New Jersey, my first ever show.
02:55And I played the guitar lick at the start of a classic original band song called Is It My Body?
03:01And so, you know, man, I step up, I start playing the riff.
03:07There's like five spotlights on me and I'm like, man, this is awesome.
03:11Awesome. I'm playing Is It My Body with Alice Cooper.
03:14And Alice steps up out of the shadows and he puts his elbow up on my shoulder and he starts singing the lyric.
03:20But what no one ever said one word about was that damn boa constrictor.
03:26He had that snake meltdown.
03:30It was wrapped around his neck.
03:32Dude, I don't like snakes, okay?
03:35I'm not a snake guy.
03:37So I'm in the middle of the stage.
03:41I'm the only instrument making noise.
03:43Alice's elbow on my shoulder and there's that snake man with his head up, leering, looking at me, looking at Coop.
03:50And, bro, I am about to hyperventilate.
03:55You know, what do you do?
03:56Right.
03:57You can't leave, right?
03:59You can't just run off.
04:01So, you know, finally when the band starts to kick in, you know, Coop pulled off my shoulder and starts walking to the other side of the stage.
04:09And I ran over to my guitar tech and I used some expletives that would not play well on this interview.
04:17But I was like, are you kidding me?
04:20No one mentioned the snake, not once, ever.
