00:00You know, people saying, okay, this is not the right way of teaching, this is not it.
00:04But for me, learning is fun. Can you just let it be?
00:11What made you start doing your first video?
00:15This is something I remember until today.
00:18My first video was about scholarship.
00:20It's not about teaching, it's about trying to help people figure out
00:24what kind of scholarship that's available in Malaysia.
00:26When I posted my first video, it immediately went viral.
00:30I was so shocked.
00:31My phone constantly ringing, notifications coming in,
00:35and I grew my followers from 0 to, I think, 30 or 40k in a day.
00:41Did you start on TikTok straight or was it on Instagram first?
00:44TikTok. I started on TikTok first.
00:46So that's when I knew helping people is the key if you want to, you know, succeed.
00:51It's one of those subjects that, okay, yeah, everybody wants to try and get a scholarship or whatever,
00:55but, like, where do you find this information, right?
00:57Like, not everyone's willing to share this information, number one.
01:00And number two, you have to look for very specific people who can give you this information.
01:05I, myself, is a scholarship holder.
01:07So, for me, it's important at that time for students, especially in the rural areas,
01:13they are smart, they are, you know, talented,
01:16but they couldn't afford higher education.
01:18They couldn't afford to, you know, sambung belajar.
01:20I wanted them to see that video and I wanted them to know that,
01:24you know what, you can, you can, you can do this.
01:26Try, try to apply as many scholarships as you can because I did it.
01:30So, you can too.
01:31So, giving this kind of obviously valuable information,
01:34what made you, like, pivot to actually teaching?
01:37It's one of those things, right?
01:38You are a teacher outside.
01:40So, some people will be like,
01:41eh, but if you teach outside, then people won't pay you lah.
01:44People won't come to give you money to learn from you in person.
01:47So, why would you put out this free information online?
01:50For me, it's not always about money.
01:53Like I said, it's about building the next Malaysia.
01:57Spoken like a true teacher.
01:58Yes.
01:59So, yeah, I mean, most teachers,
02:03they are afraid when they teach online,
02:05someone's going to steal their, you know, secret,
02:08their way of teaching.
02:09But for me, I'm not worried about that
02:11because we want to reach as many students as we can.
02:13And if someone steals the way of teaching,
02:18then it's okay.
02:19We can create a new one.
02:20I have no fear in that.
02:23When you post online,
02:25it's going to be the other way around.
02:27People are going to be attracted by you
02:30if what you teach is easy to understand.
02:33They are going to want more from you.
02:36True.
02:36And this thing will, you know,
02:39you can monetize this thing later on.
02:40Okay.
02:41But first, your intention must be right.
02:43You need to help people.
02:44Yeah.
02:44Because I see like you do,
02:45obviously, it's very educational content
02:47and you make it fun.
02:49But in between all that,
02:50you also have your trends that you do.
02:52Yeah.
02:53I know there are definitely going to be
02:54some parents out there are like,
02:55oh, but my kids should be studying.
02:57Why are you telling them to do TikTok trends?
02:59I'd be lying if I say it does not hurt.
03:02The comments that I receive, they sting.
03:04But then I remember students,
03:07they tell me,
03:08sir, your videos are the ones that attracted me
03:11to start studying.
03:12Although it's not teaching.
03:13Sometimes it's just like, you know, trend.
03:15So how do you personally deal with like comments like that?
03:19Because I mean, like you said,
03:20they do sting and it's all easy to be like,
03:22oh, I don't care about these kind of comments.
03:24I'm doing my job.
03:25But personally,
03:26how do you deal with that kind of negativity?
03:29Dealing with online negativity
03:30is something that I deal on a weekly basis.
03:34Because although our intentions are right,
03:36there's always going to be,
03:37you know, people saying,
03:39okay, this is not the right way of teaching.
03:41This is not it.
03:42But for me, learning is fun.
03:44Can you just let it be?
03:45I just pluck, remove and report and move on.
03:50We need to be able to have that ability
03:52to rise above the hate, actually.
03:54Yeah, that's what I believe in.
03:55So you don't respond,
03:56but you just like remove them from your space.
03:58But sometimes I do respond
03:59when it crosses the line,
04:01when it's about mental health,
04:03especially when it's affecting my students,
04:05I will speak up
04:06because I believe that's my responsibility.
04:08These students,
04:09they need someone to speak up
04:10on behalf of them.
04:11That's what the movement is all about.
