00:00My name is Farmer Ed from Court Farm Country Park, just outside Western Supermare.
00:05Can you tell us a bit about Court Farm Country Park?
00:09Well, Court Farm is a working farm. We've farmed here for over 50 years
00:13and we opened to the public, I think, late 1980s, so we've been doing it for nearly 40 years
00:21and we have about 40,000 people a summer. We're very simple, the kids can feed lambs,
00:28have tractor rides, we do lambing in Feb and March and then we're just coming into the summer
00:34season now, so there's little goats being born this month and next month. We do lots of school
00:40trips, we have about 5,000 school kids, many of which come from Bristol and Taunton and the
00:46surrounding district come to learn about farms. We also do about 30 weddings a summer and big events,
00:54we have a big barn that we do lots of events, we have bikers and country and western, we have scooter
00:59rallies, rockabillies, so it's a very busy life down here on the farm.
01:06Can you tell us a bit about the animals that visitors can encounter?
01:11Yeah, of course we do. We have quite a wide range on the farm. We have beef cows ourselves and quite a
01:17large pair degree sheep flock, so we sell beef and sheep here on the farm. We also have examples of all
01:27the different sort of farm livestock from sheep to goats to ponies to valet black-nosed sheep. We have emus,
01:37we have chickens, we have guinea pigs, young calves, lambs to bottle feed, baby goats, we do all sorts of things.
01:46And what kind of activities can visitors enjoy here?
01:50Today we bottle feed twice a day, we always do it at half past 11 and 3 o'clock. We do a milking show when
01:57a jersey cow gets milked in front of the children at 11am each day and we start tractor rides from about
02:0512 30 and they run on and off during the afternoon. So there's quite a bit to do here. We also have
02:11indoor and outdoor playgrounds and it's just a nice place to be. At this time of year we're open seven
02:18days a week. We're very good value for money and we hope to see you soon.
