00:01The government has ordered the temporary closure of the Kuala Lumpur Tower, effective today.

00:08In a statement, the Communications Ministry said Manara Kuala Lumpur Syndrome Burhat has been operating the tower without government authorization.

00:18This follows two eviction notices issued to MKLSB by the Federal Lands Commissioner dated April 3 and April 9.

00:27The Ministry said the order to shut down KL Tower temporarily was to allow the new management, LSH Service Master Sundran Burhat, to carry out maintenance and improvement works.

00:40The reopening date of the tower would be announced in due course.

00:45LSH Service Master was supposed to take over the management of the tower on April 1.

00:51However, a standoff occurred after MKLSB and its parent company, Hydro Shop Sundran Burhat, initiated a lawsuit against the award of the concession, alleging contractual breaches and misconduct.
