00:00Hi, Bella.
00:00Hi, Nino, how are you?
00:02I'm good, how are you?
00:03I was wondering, in Season 2, we see Ellie already fidgeting with the guitar.
00:09Did you learn to play the guitar for the role, or were you able to play the guitar earlier?
00:15In my audition for The Last of Us, in my Zoom, I made sure my guitar was positioned on the wall behind me,
00:21just so they knew that I could play.
00:24So I did already play, but I learned specific songs for this.
00:29It's more like finger-picking rather than strumming, which I'm still not very good at.
00:35So I had to learn more how to play guitar, but I did already know.
00:40Did you learn The Last of Us theme tune?
00:43I tried. I actually should do that for real.
00:46Do you have a favorite line from the show?
00:49The one that I always think about is the last one of Season 1, which is like,
00:54swear to me, swear to me that everything said about fireflies, it's true.
00:57And then he goes, I swear, but I do Joel's line a lot.
01:01When people are getting me to swear on something, I'll go, I swear, like him.
01:05You're playing a, let's say, very controversial character.
01:09Yeah.
01:09So how did you prepare for the unfortunately inevitable audience reaction?
01:15Well, I honestly, you know, obviously was aware of the conversation surrounding the character
01:24after people meet her in the game.
01:28I was definitely aware of that.
01:30I wanted to be mindful of all of that in my approach, but also I feel like I had to set
01:38it aside too, because I think that what was most important to me was, was tackling her
01:45emotional journey and how, you know, where, where, where all of that rage and anger does
01:52come from and, uh, yeah, but it, it certainly was never going to stop me that the controversy
02:00surrounding it, um, was never going to stop me from playing her.
02:04And I'm, I'm glad that within this version of the story we're getting, um, where we have
02:11the opportunity to give her character a little more context and hopefully that allows people
02:16to better understand where, where she's coming from and what she's been through.
02:22During your preparation, did you connect with the original actress, Laura Bailey, from,
02:27from the game?
02:28Um, I didn't.
02:29And, you know, I, I, I did in my first meeting with Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin, we did talk
02:36about, you know, how, how attached, I think I probably asked them like how attached they
02:43wanted to be to the, the original, um, game and Neil really didn't even want, I think he
02:51was telling a lot of the cast members not to even play the game, um, because he and Craig
02:57really wanted us to just focus on the, the text of the script and, and build around that
03:02and come to these characters with our own, um, ideas, which I really appreciated.
03:08Um, and yeah, so, and also they're just, because this, all my involvement in the show happened
03:16so fast, I, I didn't have a lot of, a lot of time either.
03:20It was very, everything happened really, really quickly.
03:24I think we're all dying to know Gabriel or, or Tina, both of you, like how is having Pedro
03:30Pascal as your brother, brother-in-law?
03:33Go ahead.
03:34It's great.
03:38Um, it's great for me.
03:39I've also, I've known Pedro for like a really long time.
03:41So we kind of reunited on this.
03:44Um, and I just think he's wonderful.
03:46He's really funny and he kind of keeps me laughing.
03:49He keeps me like, yeah, he just keeps it light at all times, which is great.
03:54Yeah.
03:54No, I remember in the first season, just, just watching you guys and get interact.
03:58It's just, uh, you know, back in their New York days and they had a lot of, uh, established
04:02relationship there and, and, uh, and he and I were really fused together really strongly
04:07by, uh, kind of our prep for the first episode last year.
04:12And then, um, and then when we did the sixth episode, did the scene in the bar and the scene,
04:17you know, where he's pouring his heart out to me.
04:19It's just, uh, we had some rehearsal time with Jazmila, our director that really, where we ended
04:24up doing a bunch of like theater exercises that you probably were doing at Juilliard.
04:29And, uh, and it was cool to just go and have these moments where we can really kind of work,
04:34work on it.
04:36Um, however natural our, our, our relationship came, which, which did come very naturally.
04:41We were able to build upon that with all this work outside of the, outside of what we did
04:46on the day, which I think is great.
04:48And yeah, and she's right.
04:49He's, he's a giggle monster.
04:50He's a lot of fun, very playful person.
04:52And, and we love, we love Pedro or Pedge as Bella calls him.
04:58Gabriel, what's the worst apocalypse Terminator or the Clickers?
05:03Ooh.
05:04Um, oh man.
05:07I mean, you know, it feels like those T-800s are kind of harder to put down because you
05:13can't really kill any of them with a knife.
05:15And that's my preferred mode of, mode of, uh, defense when I'm dealing with Clickers.
05:20So, uh, I don't know, man.
05:22Future Wars seems really rough.
05:25And, uh, we made like six of those movies.
05:27So obviously it's really, really hard to kill them.
05:29So I don't know.
05:31Um,
05:31Jida, for you, what's the difference between dealing with vampires and Clickers or what
05:38happens if a Clicker gets bitten by a vampire?
05:41I was thinking that same thing.
05:43I was like, if we merged these shows, this would be insane.
05:48Um, I don't know what would happen, but I think of, ah, I actually could just see like
05:55the Clicker bites, the vampire bites.
05:56So could they just keep biting each other and seeing what happens?
06:02This universe is collide.
06:03Conversation we're having is nuts.
06:04We're just like fortnighting all of television.
06:08That would be insane.
