00:00:57on Merseyside where Liverpool could take another big step
00:01:00towards the Premier League title with victory over West Ham
00:01:02who have won only one of their last 57 games at Anfield.
00:01:082015 was a year of change at Anfield.
00:01:11Steven Gerrard left.
00:01:12Thank you very much. All the best.
00:01:14Gerrard Kopp arrived.
00:01:15I'm the normal one.
00:01:16In the 10 years since, the club has gone from strength to strength.
00:01:19Liverpool champions again.
00:01:22The glory days have returned
00:01:23and one of the teams to feel the sting has been West Ham.
00:01:26Liverpool have done it again.
00:01:28Another thumping win for Liverpool.
00:01:30Liverpool won't have to catch up.
00:01:32But 10 years ago, the Hammers shattered expectations.
00:01:36Anfield would be in for a shot.
00:01:37And it's in! Lanzini!
00:01:40No ball!
00:01:42Sacco.
00:01:43Oh, what a finish!
00:01:45We find ourselves here again.
00:01:47The odds in Liverpool's favour.
00:01:50But who knows?
00:01:51Maybe history could repeat itself.
00:01:53Even at this stadium, where we didn't win for so many years.
00:01:56It's not logical, but you have a chance.
00:01:59Guy Mowbray was at Anfield.
00:02:01The words of Slavin Bilic could well have been spoken by Graham Potter this week.
00:02:07But maybe even he might think that chance has been reduced
00:02:10by the boost Liverpool will have had by Mo Salah signing to stay for another two years.
00:02:17Salah plays today against opponents he's already scored twice against this season
00:02:22in a team showing four changes from defeat at Fulham last Sunday.
00:02:26Alisson is back after missing matches due to concussion protocols,
00:02:30whilst Conor Bradley, Costa Simicas and Luis Diaz also come into the starting line-up.
00:02:37For West Ham, two changes as Totter switches to a five-man defence.
00:02:41Konstantinos Mavropanos and Carlos Soler come in,
00:02:45with Edson Alvarez and Thomas Sojak out to the bench.
00:02:48On Tuesday, it will be 36 years since the Hillsborough tragedy.
00:02:57Now, as every year at this time, Anfield falls silent.
00:03:01A moment of remembrance and thought for the 97 who lost their lives.
00:03:06Here in the silence, it will start on the referees' whistle.
00:03:09Here in the silence, it will start on the referees' whistle.
00:03:09Here in the silence, it will start on the referees' whistle.
00:03:39Here in the 60th game in charge of Liverpool.
00:03:4135 wins, seven draws, seven defeats in all competitions.
00:03:45Just as a point of reference, different times, different players.
00:03:49Jurgen Klopp only won 23 of his first 50.
00:03:54Here's Diaz.
00:03:57Diaz has a go!
00:04:00Arreola saw that late.
00:04:02Got down a little late to shuffle it clear.
00:04:04There's Diaz.
00:04:14Oh, the ref's been found.
00:04:15Play goes on, it's McAllister, and Ward Prowse will get it away.
00:04:20Touch there from Gravenberg, and there's a slip from Lucas Pacitar that takes him straight into Andy Madley.
00:04:27He took that in good humour.
00:04:29Canate.
00:04:31Seeking out Salah.
00:04:32It's the customary, sumptuous first touch of the ball.
00:04:41Oh!
00:04:43Wouldn't that have been absolutely glorious?
00:04:47Just watch this.
00:04:49How do you do that?
00:04:50Just an amazing touch, that's coming down from a height.
00:04:54Then Scarls was left behind.
00:04:56The thought process, the skill to do all that at the speed at which Mo Salah did it.
00:05:02That's why Liverpool have decided to keep him.
00:05:06It's why, had they thought otherwise, at the ripe old age of 32,
00:05:10it wouldn't have just been the Saudi Pro League wanting him, it would have been every league in the world.
00:05:15And he's going again and playing it through, and Luis Diaz puts Liverpool in front.
00:05:23Now that looks like a pretty happy game.
00:05:26Liverpool on their way.
00:05:28Salah was just too wily, just too good for teenager Scarls.
00:05:37And at first when he plays the ball in you think, ah, he's not found his man, but he was never looking for Diogo Jota.
00:05:45He was looking for Diaz all along, and it was weighted perfectly for him.
00:05:50Liverpool one, West Ham United nil.
00:05:57They are sitting very comfortably.
00:06:07Wan-Bissaka.
00:06:08That's a good ball.
00:06:10Salah getting in behind the defence, Alisson's there to stop him.
00:06:13Koudas now, he's got the chips.
00:06:15Oh, good save.
00:06:16There's Walt Krause, there's Salah trying to keep things going, and it's a goal kick.
00:06:22Brilliant attempt that from Mohamed Koudas.
00:06:27And look at the glove of Alisson here.
00:06:30Fingertips.
00:06:39Salah.
00:06:43Jones.
00:06:46McAllister.
00:06:51Mariola makes the stop.
00:06:58That was another lovely pass, disguised by Salah.
00:07:02McAllister made his break at the right time.
00:07:04Well, we're into the 45th minute.
00:07:15Not sure right now West Ham want half-time as much as Liverpool do.
00:07:18Koudos.
00:07:21Van Dijk has to put it behind.
00:07:24They certainly won't want half-time now, they want to take this corner.
00:07:29And they're flowing with belief now, are the visitors.
00:07:31Come on you Irons.
00:07:32Echoes out from the away section.
00:07:34In from Ward-Prowse.
00:07:35Oh, good chance.
00:07:36Met by Mavropanos, but he couldn't get fully over the top of the ball.
00:07:50It's a brilliant Ward-Prowse ball in, there have been plenty of those over the years.
00:07:53Mavropanos had the free run at it.
00:07:58Well, not many minutes ago, it was a case of Liverpool should have been clear by the interval.
00:08:04The game should have been as good as one.
00:08:05Now, it might be West Ham thinking, how will we not level by half-time?
00:08:12No changes made by Arna Slott nor Graham Potter at the break.
00:08:17Here's Simakas.
00:08:21Simakas is taken out just on the edge of the area.
00:08:25Jean-Claire Todibo is looking innocent.
00:08:29But he did catch Simakas.
00:08:30Simakas on hand should Alexis McAllister decide he's going to use him.
00:08:37Seems as though he's only got eyes for the middle though.
00:08:40He might even have eyes for goal.
00:08:42I think he has.
00:08:44Oh, he had!
00:08:46And it bounces up off the bar with Areola beaten.
00:08:50Really good attempt by McAllister.
00:08:53Was Areola beaten?
00:08:54Did he get something on that?
00:08:57Maybe, maybe not.
00:08:58Inconclusive.
00:09:00Gravenberg.
00:09:03McAllister outside of the boot.
00:09:04It's a tester!
00:09:06Areola ends up in the net.
00:09:08All he's bothered about is that the ball didn't.
00:09:12Look at the way this one was spinning and floating and dipping.
00:09:16And it might well have dipped in.
00:09:19Van Dijk at the back of the queue playing Tig with Ward-Prowse.
00:09:22Come on and clear it.
00:09:23I can tell you that there is a VAR check ongoing for a possible handball.
00:09:34The ball.
00:09:35But forget that, it's been cleared.
00:09:38It was James Ward-Prowse.
00:09:39It hit his arm but he didn't know anything about it apparently.
00:09:42He's got the warning that Diaz was scaling ground.
00:09:43And now Pakitar can do that.
00:09:44And thread one through.
00:09:45Beautiful ball.
00:09:46Bowen, great save.
00:09:47Alisson so alert.
00:09:48Always.
00:09:49And it's one of the best passes of the match, it's a super West Ham move.
00:09:52Bowen broke at the right time but Alisson advanced at the right time too.
00:09:53Tighten up is the message of the Liverpool keeper.
00:09:54Keep going will be the West Ham words.
00:09:55Van Dijk.
00:09:56Van Dijk.
00:09:57He's got the warning that Diaz was scaling ground.
00:09:58And now Pakitar can do that.
00:09:59And thread one through.
00:10:00Beautiful ball.
00:10:01Bowen, great save.
00:10:02Alisson so alert.
00:10:03Always.
00:10:04And it's one of the best passes of the match.
00:10:07It's a super West Ham move.
00:10:09Bowen broke at the right time but Alisson advanced at the right time too.
00:10:14Tighten up is the message of the Liverpool keeper.
00:10:18Keep going will be the West Ham words.
00:10:21Van Dijk.
00:10:26Touch from Lukas Pakitar.
00:10:27Kudus is onto it.
00:10:28Wan-Bissaka to his left.
00:10:32Wan-Bissaka back to Kudus.
00:10:34It's right across the face.
00:10:36Sofar tries to keep things going.
00:10:38But Robertson has played him.
00:10:42A great roar from West Ham supporters.
00:10:51More pros.
00:10:58Lukas Pakitar.
00:10:59Wan-Bissaka was seen.
00:11:02And I think timed his advance just right.
00:11:04Couldn't find Bowen but it's an own goal.
00:11:06West Ham are level.
00:11:07Andy Robertson has put the ball into his own net.
00:11:09But no matter who scored for West Ham, you can't argue that they don't deserve it.
00:11:19A super burst by Wan-Bissaka.
00:11:21Magnificent pass from Lukas Pakitar.
00:11:22And then as Van Dijk was tidying it up.
00:11:23Robertson came in on his blind side.
00:11:24And he buried it.
00:11:25It's Van Dijk who plays it against the full-back.
00:11:26Robertson furious with his captain.
00:11:27And Van Dijk can hardly bring himself to turn and look at him.
00:11:28They have a full throw and they take it quickly, they'll do everything quickly now.
00:11:46It's a boss line.
00:11:49Here's Quenter.
00:11:50Here's Kwanza, and now it's Luis Diaz, it's a corner, did it come off Wan-Bissaka, was
00:11:59it saved by Arreola, it might have been a bit of both, touch from Wan-Bissaka, that's
00:12:05what it was, then off the top of the bar, McAllister, Van Dijk didn't get it, Luis
00:12:16Diaz, Kwanza, up goes Lucas Paquitar, West Ham try and break clear with Gooders, Paquitar,
00:12:30a little nudge from McAllister, not seen as a foul, nearly caught out Arreola near post,
00:12:36Arreola got down sharply, a game that was meandering along, a game that had the script, well, plucky
00:12:44West Ham so close, but not getting anything, they might get something now, and what we've
00:12:49got is an exciting finish out of nowhere, and Callister in, 2-1 Liverpool, Virgil van Dijk,
00:13:01that's the way it goes for champions, you make a mistake, you let them in, you do something
00:13:08about it, double quickly, and you look at that goal, and you think, why haven't Liverpool
00:13:15done that before, and had this game sewn up, when they've needed to, they've done it, and
00:13:20isn't it just the way, when it's a player who is involved in the Liverpool calamity at one
00:13:25end, who's more than made amends at the other, Guillaume, Kilman, curling ball in, off the
00:13:39crossbar, Falkrug incredibly close to making it 2-2, lovely ball in from Kilman, Falkrug all on his own,
00:13:52Alisson's getting nowhere near that, can't take anything away from Falkrug for the effort,
00:13:59fine fine margins, Ward-Prowse, Kilman, Liverpool win, thanks to a late, late headed goal from their
00:14:07captain, who had played more than a part just a few moments previously in giving West Ham their equaliser,
00:14:14six more points needed now for Arna Slott's team to be crowned Premier League champions, Liverpool 2, West Ham 1,
00:14:22How did that feel when that hit the net? Beautiful, obviously for multiple reasons, it's the winner of course, it's quite late in the game, have you and Robbo made up?
00:14:37I think obviously when the goal equaliser went in, we obviously been together through everything, me and Robbo are like brothers and this is also part of the game and luckily we got the win.
00:14:52Off the field this week, it's been about Mo Salah, when is it going to be your week announcement-wise, do we know yet?
00:15:09I don't know, I don't know but I don't know.
00:15:13Graeme, is that one you can separate or try and detach performance from result?
00:15:18Yeah, we have to, because obviously we're disappointed to not get anything from the game, but the performance was probably, I think he is the strongest performance we've had since we've been here,
00:15:30balance between defence and attack was really good, we gave the top team, the best team a real game today, we're positive about the performance,
00:15:38but we're just disappointed to come away with him.
00:15:40The boys showed why they are in the position we are in, because these games nine out of ten times end in the draw, but with these mentality players, it was a win for us, 2-1.
00:15:51Now we know what we have to do is two more wins, which is difficult in the Premier League, but we're going to fight for it as hard as we can.
00:15:59So Liverpool got the job done this afternoon, could potentially have the league wrapped up this time next week, if a lot of things go their way.
00:16:06Danny, it was frantic in the end, but the result really was all that mattered at this stage of the season, isn't it?
00:16:11Yeah, it was an intriguing game, I think there was some nerves from Liverpool, thought West Ham contributed some good moments.
00:16:17What I liked early in the game was how Liverpool mixed their game up, they've done it a lot this season, especially against teams who come there and try and narrow up and play deep.
00:16:26They've got two really good centre-halves who are confident on the ball. If you look at West Ham's shape, narrow, no space in there to play through, but look how high they are.
00:16:37And I think Liverpool have got two at the best at knowing when to play long. Great run from Salah, good run from Kanate. The only thing missing here is the finish, you expect the back of the net to ripple.
00:16:49And then West Ham did have a little press at times. No problem, the pass is non into the middle of the pitch. Another good ball from Kanate, who I think has really improved his game actually in terms of his distribution, his confidence is up.
00:17:01Salah was outstanding in the first half hour of the game. Look at this for a pass, the weight. Just beautiful, brilliant finish, and this man we've seen do this for many, many years.
00:17:14Willing runner in Diaz on the left, and it just really mixes the game up and really gives West Ham problems because they don't know whether to squeeze, to drop off.
00:17:22And Liverpool do like to play out from the back, we know that, but when you've got the capability, look, let's play. He's there, don't need to.
00:17:29The space, they give us the space. I know Salah's going to be on his bike, and I'm capable of it in 70-yard diagonals.
00:17:35And this has been a constant pattern at Anfield when teams try and do this to Liverpool, hence the fact they've got such a good home record.
00:17:41Yeah, it was a really impressive first half from Liverpool, and the stats reflect that as well, Danny.
00:17:47But does this also show us that actually West Ham was so much better in that second half?
00:17:52They actually had some spells in the first half. They've got really good forward players. Kudis was outstanding.
00:17:57Bowen is always a threat. I'm a big fan of his. They had Paquetta helping the pair of them out.
00:18:02And they grew in confidence as Liverpool's nerves to protect that 1-0 got more as the game went on.
00:18:08And as Graham Potter said there, they'll probably be a little bit disappointed.
00:18:11But at this stage in the season, Kel, you said at the beginning, it's about the win.
00:18:15But this guy, I mean, I really like him, Dion. I don't know what you think.
00:18:18But his hold-up player is great. He's a threat. Yeah, strong. Really strong.
00:18:23Strong on the ball. Listen, they've got some really good players. He had a proper go today.
00:18:26They were in the game. They were quite easily to point.
00:18:29It's just that it's what you said, Dan. Liverpool mixed it up so much, they weren't quite sure what to do.
00:18:33And the quality paid in the end.
00:18:35A large reason that they didn't get anything from the game in the end, West Ham.
00:18:39On the week where we're talking about Mo Salah signing a new contract, Berger van Dijk.
00:18:43It sounds like he's going to sign his new contract from what he said then.
00:18:46It's this man, though, isn't it, Alisson? Trying to give him some credit.
00:18:48Yeah, and when you've got someone behind you like this who you know can...
00:18:52I mean, look at the starting position. He's absolutely outstanding.
00:18:55He's 15 yards outside his goal. Then he gets back and he gets something on that
00:18:59and he tips it onto the bar. There's two certain goals there.
00:19:03But as a defender, if you know that you've got a goalkeeper who can do this kind of stuff,
00:19:07I mean, that's just outstanding. They do that on the training pitch day in, day out.
00:19:12And he did it four or five times, knowing when to come, stays on his line that time.
00:19:16That's just a reaction one. But again, look at how big he stays.
00:19:19Hits him in the chest. It doesn't matter how he saves it.
00:19:23The back four allow him to have that space in behind him as well.
00:19:26And that one there, when you see from behind the goal, that is an amazing save.
00:19:31It's going in and he pushes it away from goal as well.
00:19:35I think it's calmness on those one-on-ones. You know, dear, when you've played up top.
00:19:38When you see a keeper stay so calm, it's so intimidating.
00:19:41I mean, this is a mix-up between Robbo and Virgil, which is the only way they got past him today.
00:19:46But he is a phenomenal goalkeeper.
00:19:49Do you think sometimes we take for granted just how good and how consistent he is?
00:19:53I think, yeah, to a degree. Yeah.
00:19:57I don't think we do as footballers.
00:19:59No. Football fans then, maybe.
00:20:01Maybe the fans that haven't been in the circle of football, we know how important it is.
00:20:05He's also so humble. He very rarely does interviews. He's not very fist-pumpy, emotional on the pitch.
00:20:11He's not really an extrovert, if anything. He's completely the other way, which he goes under the radar because of that.
00:20:17As for Liverpool overall, if, as I said before, if results go their way, they could win the league as early as next weekend.
00:20:23Does it feel like... No, we don't want that. You don't want that?
00:20:25No, we want it at Anfield.
00:20:27OK, all right. So, I'm sure you... If I'd have offered you this at the beginning of the season, though, you'd have taken it wherever you could have won it.
00:20:32I only say that, Col, because the fans last time they won it, it was Covid, wasn't it? Covid, yeah.
00:20:36And I think to do it at Anfield or have the opportunity to do it at Anfield in front of the fans will be incredible.
00:20:41Just get it done, I say. Just get it done. Yeah, yeah, of course.
00:20:44But are we seeing a slightly different side to them today and in recent weeks, maybe?
00:20:48Yeah, there's been an edginess there, which is, I think it's understandable.
00:20:51I mean, the performance at Fulham, obviously the Newcastle was League Cup, not Prem, but the levels have dropped a little bit.
00:20:56The intensity and the sharpness and the dominance. But as of now, what? Two wins? By hook or by crook? Just get it done.
00:21:03I mean, however they get it done, that won't be remembered. What will be remembered is winning the title.
00:21:08And as a player, that's all you strive for. That's all you crave for.
00:21:11Agree.
00:21:12Yeah, I just think that they've been the best team by far. They've had that little blip, but because they've been so good,
00:21:18they've given themselves a huge buffer and now they know they're in touching distance.
00:21:22They will not let this slip. Not now. The manager will let them.
00:21:26OK, well, moving on now. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe was taken to hospital on Friday nights after feeling unwell for a number of days.
00:21:32So assistants Jason Tindall and Graham Jones took charge for the match against Manchester United today.
00:21:37Stephen Wyeth was at St James' Park.
00:21:41Circumstances to further galvanise Newcastle. The pursuit of Champions League football and the desire to deliver a performance the manager would be proud of.
00:21:51Jason Tindall's rallying call before sending out an unchanged side in Eddie Howe's absence.
00:21:56It's the same Newcastle XI for a fifth game in a row.
00:22:00Manchester United have removed goalkeeper Andre Onana from the firing line.
00:22:04Alte Bayande deputises one of five changes.
00:22:0818 year old Harry Amas gets a full debut.
00:22:11Victor Lindelof, Christian Eriksen and Joshua Zergzi also start.
00:22:15The head of kickoff, the players on both sides take a knee to remind us there is no room for racism.
00:22:25Enjoying the game!
00:22:28For more than 600 games as Eddie Howe's assistant for Jason Tindall.
00:22:34It is he though and Graham Jones calling the shots today.
00:22:38Zergzi, giving away to Trippier. Murphy!
00:22:45A player in sparkling form, not too far away from giving Newcastle the lead.
00:22:57Prina Gameres.
00:23:00Not often he has the ball pinched away from him in those sorts of positions.
00:23:04Ericsson, Zergzi, that's incredible! Joshua Zergzi!
00:23:10Nick Pope with the save to prevent Zergzi giving Manchester United the lead.
00:23:14Wonderful interchange Bruno Fernandes and Joshua Zergzi who went for power
00:23:21and couldn't quite get enough on the shot.
00:23:26Just 1.15 points per game since Ruben Amarin took over.
00:23:32That's the worst return for a Manchester United manager after 20 games or more since before the Second World War.
00:23:40Murphy.
00:23:46Bruna Gameres.
00:23:49Well that's a good header!
00:23:52Which is only just off target Alexander Isak.
00:23:56Newcastle in the ascendancy all of a sudden.
00:24:00Masraoui.
00:24:02Ugarte.
00:24:04The chance for Isak just seems to have inspired Newcastle.
00:24:09Suddenly more tenacious.
00:24:12Trippier.
00:24:14Isak.
00:24:15Try to conjure something.
00:24:16And he conjures something brilliant.
00:24:19For Sandro Ternali to put Newcastle in front.
00:24:24The home side sparking into life.
00:24:32And Sandro Ternali had the killer finish.
00:24:36How rapidly Newcastle went through the gears.
00:24:41Fifth goal of the season.
00:24:43His third in the Premier League.
00:24:45Newcastle United 1 and Manchester United 0.
00:24:49The team in black and white certainly the sharper of the two.
00:24:56Ternali.
00:24:58Urged to shoots.
00:25:00And he wasn't too far away from an excellent second goal for him and his team.
00:25:06Look faster, fitter and stronger at the moment Newcastle.
00:25:13Joel Linton with a demonstration of that.
00:25:16Dalos sliding in.
00:25:19Harvey Barnes.
00:25:23Liv Romento.
00:25:24Byandir couldn't deal with it.
00:25:26And then recovers to make an excellent save.
00:25:29While Newcastle are deservedly in front.
00:25:32And there's starting to be a collective feeling that they should be even further ahead.
00:25:40Ahead of today Newcastle had won 11 of 15 in the Premier League.
00:25:43Only the top of the table side Liverpool could match that.
00:25:50Dallo.
00:25:53Rare Manchester United attack.
00:25:54Dallo for Garnaccio who is in and has equalised.
00:25:58Out of nowhere Manchester United are level.
00:26:07Jubilation amongst the away support.
00:26:12They might have been further behind than 1-0.
00:26:15They have survived the onslaught.
00:26:18And hit back at the other end.
00:26:21Oh Amas.
00:26:22Flute of foot finding Xerxi.
00:26:23United looking business here.
00:26:24Garnaccio.
00:26:25And then a shot that Pope.
00:26:26Might have seen quite late.
00:26:27Garnaccio.
00:26:28Thought he may have scored again.
00:26:30Newcastle.
00:26:31Newcastle will have the greater regrets that they haven't resumed in the second half with a lead.
00:26:39Fremento.
00:26:40Good progress.
00:26:41Murphy.
00:26:42Outstanding Newcastle goal.
00:26:43Harvey Barnes with the finishing touch.
00:26:44But so many others were involved in the creation.
00:26:45A purposeful start to the second half has seen Newcastle as well.
00:26:48Newcastle restore their lead.
00:26:49Newcastle United back in front.
00:26:50A purposeful start to the second half has seen Newcastle restore their lead.
00:26:51Newcastle United back in front.
00:26:53inside four minutes.
00:26:54In the second half.
00:26:55In the second half.
00:26:56A purposeful start to the second half has seen Newcastle restore their lead.
00:27:00Newcastle United back in front inside four minutes in the second half.
00:27:21Manchester United trying to find a way to avoid what would be an eighth defeat in 16 in the Premier League.
00:27:30Oh a stumble.
00:27:33Barnes.
00:27:34Looking to benefit.
00:27:35Barnes.
00:27:36What a run.
00:27:37And a finish to match at the end.
00:27:40Ruthless from Newcastle and Harvey Barnes.
00:27:47Arthur Masraoui lost his footing.
00:27:52Pin point accurate.
00:27:55The finish from Barnes for his second of the game.
00:27:58And the goal that Newcastle will feel edges them towards victory.
00:28:04Already guaranteed European football for next season Newcastle but those fans would love it to be of a Champions League favour.
00:28:17Oh.
00:28:18By and dear.
00:28:19Terrible error.
00:28:20Bruna Gimanej.
00:28:21Away.
00:28:22Clear.
00:28:23And pretty much over the horizon Newcastle United.
00:28:24Time and again today they have punished Manchester United mistakes.
00:28:38Errors from Andre and Ana in midweek.
00:28:40The reason he is not involved.
00:28:42The player covering for him today has just been guilty of a serious misjudgment.
00:28:49Newcastle leading 4-1.
00:28:53Another defeat for Manchester United today means we now know for certain that they will finish this season with their lowest points tally of the Premier League era.
00:29:06We wanted to go out there and deliver a performance the manager would be proud of.
00:29:09And the lead certainly delivered that.
00:29:11I thought we were really aggressive on their press.
00:29:13Especially second half.
00:29:14Played some excellent football at times.
00:29:17And we scored four good goals.
00:29:18So super proud.
00:29:19I'm just playing with a smile on my face at the minute.
00:29:22I'm just enjoying being out there every week.
00:29:24And I think that's reflected in my performances.
00:29:27I love playing football.
00:29:28I love scoring goals.
00:29:29And when you're doing that you can't help but enjoy it.
00:29:32So that reflected in my performance.
00:29:34I think the team as well.
00:29:36Scoring four goals is always a good day at the office.
00:29:39So I'm really pleased.
00:29:40We are doing a lot of mistakes in certain games that give confidence to the opponents.
00:29:47Give goals.
00:29:48And then it's hard to cope with everything.
00:29:51They opened the score.
00:29:53And then they took control of the game.
00:29:55We scored the draw.
00:29:57But then second half.
00:29:58Suffering in the second play of the game is hard for our team.
00:30:02And we did a lot of mistakes.
00:30:04Can you tell us what the latest is with Eddie?
00:30:06And whether news of the way that his team have played today will be able to give him a lift?
00:30:12I'm sure it will give him a lift.
00:30:13He was able to watch the game.
00:30:15I just received a message from him before I came in to do the media.
00:30:18So he was pleased.
00:30:20Congratulate everyone on the work.
00:30:22And I'm sure it will be a performance and a result that will hopefully put a smile on his face.
00:30:29Good to hear some positive news on Eddie Howe though.
00:30:31And of course all our best wishes to him and his family for a speedy recovery.
00:30:36Danny, when you watched that game though, did you feel like Newcastle sensed today if they went after Manchester United,
00:30:42they could really get at them and get the result?
00:30:44Absolutely, they sensed their vulnerability.
00:30:46It was high risk, high energy, great tenacity.
00:30:51And at certain times they just went after them man for man, especially early, all over as you can see here.
00:30:56Matching up, which is a risk against good players.
00:30:59This is well organised, good communication.
00:31:03It's real passionate play from the Newcastle players.
00:31:07You can tell how much they want it.
00:31:08Early in the game, a little warning to United, they're not going to be able to play out.
00:31:11Not the best ball from Isak there, but a little warning.
00:31:14The goal actually, I mean, Xerxes are centre-forward.
00:31:17Look at United trying to play out, they've got no one to play to.
00:31:19They're dropping off too deep because they're getting pushed back.
00:31:21They did have a couple of decent passages of play, United, because they've got good players.
00:31:26And every now and again they do play out, but here it's too condensed.
00:31:29They lose the ball because it's all too short and too intricate.
00:31:32And when the ball comes in to Isak, it's a wonderful little pass.
00:31:36Tonali runs off the back of Yoro and it's a brilliant finish.
00:31:40But time and time again this happened and it was the same in the second half game, wasn't it?
00:31:44You know what it is as well?
00:31:45When you try to play this way, if you've got one player that's asleep or one player that doesn't want to do it,
00:31:51then it's not going to work.
00:31:52I mean, all black and white shirts today, Dan, were on the same page.
00:31:56Manchester United did get out a couple of times, they beat the press,
00:31:59but then they've got nobody up front, so they struggled and they gave the ball away in silly positions like this.
00:32:04And Barnes was on fire, Joel Linton was on fire, Isak was on fire.
00:32:08So when they got a sniff of the white post, they would shoot or they'd pick out the right pass.
00:32:13And you can see United here, I mean, Bruno's had the chance just to turn that defence,
00:32:18but he hasn't and he's lost it in a really bad area. That happened all game.
00:32:21Yeah, and I think we'll talk about the keeper in a minute, but this is all due to the pressure of Newcastle.
00:32:27You know, putting pressure on the goalkeeper and every one of the defenders causes mistakes when they win it back.
00:32:33I mean, that high line there for Newcastle, United have got to go long on occasion.
00:32:37Play some percentages.
00:32:38Have a breather.
00:32:39Turn them round and that gets some runners.
00:32:41It's poor game management individually from the players within the game.
00:32:45Big topic recently, are players too robotic? Are they listening to the manager too much?
00:32:50Make some decisions that influence the game positively.
00:32:52You cannot, you take the information onto the pitch by the manager and you try and play that to the letter.
00:32:58However, when you're in a situation where you think I've got to do something here, you go safe,
00:33:03which is long out the way, get up the pitch.
00:33:06You mentioned it then.
00:33:07We do have to talk about the Manchester United goalkeeper situation.
00:33:10Does Ruben Amrim have a bit of an issue in that position now?
00:33:15A little bit, yeah.
00:33:16I mean, I think it was the right thing to give an honour a breather.
00:33:18He was letting his teammates down too often.
00:33:21Bayon Deer has done all right.
00:33:23He did particularly well in the Arsenal game, Cup game, didn't he, earlier in the season.
00:33:26So, if you're a manager who never gives the keeper, reserve keeper a chance when you're the ones really struggling,
00:33:31he's going to be asking questions.
00:33:32He gave him a chance today, didn't cover himself in glory.
00:33:35So, what does he do for the big one midweek?
00:33:37We'll have to wait and see.
00:33:38But it's a huge problem for United moving forward.
00:33:40It is.
00:33:41Your defenders change the way they play.
00:33:43Yeah.
00:33:44We've seen Liverpool tonight and how confident they are with Alisson.
00:33:47I mean, you've got a keeper behind you.
00:33:49You're not quite confident with, he's the pass, but you don't want to pass it to him.
00:33:52So, you're forcing something.
00:33:54Everything changes as a defender.
00:33:56As for Manchester United overall, Ruben Amrim there talked about mistakes,
00:34:00but you don't think it's just down to individual areas that Manchester United's problems are coming from?
00:34:04I mean, there are individual areas, but it's certainly not just that.
00:34:06I still think tactically they're wrong with the players they've got.
00:34:09Their options up front are really limited, and that's down to the manager, the tactical plan.
00:34:14And the motivation of the players and the players he's picking.
00:34:17Now, there is today a little bit of, I wouldn't say get out of jail card with the midweek game coming up,
00:34:22because he did have a few on the bench who might normally start,
00:34:24and they've got to prioritise midweek because they can't do anything in the Premier League.
00:34:27But that is an abject performance from Manchester United's side. It really is, Paul.
00:34:33It's really difficult, though, to rest players because you've got a big game midweek,
00:34:37and then you lose a game, and then you're going into that game with a bad feeling or a loss under your belt,
00:34:42whereas you think, well, hold it a minute, if I use these players and we get a win, you're not tired.
00:34:47Danny will tell you, when you're winning, you don't get tired.
00:34:49OK, well, moving on then, and Ipswich beat Chelsea 2-0 in the reverse fixture in December.
00:34:54Three points today were vital to keep their increasingly faint hopes of Premier League survival alive.
00:34:59Your commentator is Mark Scott.
00:35:02Both sides suffered disappointment last weekend.
00:35:05While Ipswich's defeat to Wolves left even Kieran McKenna seemingly resigned to relegation.
00:35:11Chelsea's draw at Brentford left them vulnerable to slipping out of the Champions League places.
00:35:17Having been left on the bench for that one, Cole Palmer and Nicholas Jackson are both back in today,
00:35:22with Cucurea, Colwell and Neto also returning.
00:35:25There's no Liam Dillap in the Ipswich side.
00:35:28Their 12-goal top scorer, who apparently has Chelsea amongst his many admirers,
00:35:32is named as a sub after he suffered a nasty rib injury last weekend.
00:35:40Ipswich beat Chelsea at Portman Road in December,
00:35:43but they've lost their last five games at Stamford Bridge.
00:35:46and were smashed 7-0 here in the FA Cup on their most recent visit in 2011.
00:35:55Madweke, that's too easy to get through to Enzo Fernandes,
00:35:57Jackson should be 1-0.
00:36:01And it looked a relatively simple finish for Jackson,
00:36:04but he couldn't pull it off.
00:36:06His side were the Premier League's top scorers across their first 16 games with 37 goals,
00:36:13but they've only hit 17 in the 15 since then.
00:36:17Madweke's ball, and the header from Cole, beaten away by Palmer.
00:36:22Palmer, nearly came to Cole Palmer, instead it's in CISO.
00:36:28Enzo Fernandes pushed onto Palmer, laid off for Cucurea!
00:36:34Well, they are peppering Alex Palmer's goal now.
00:36:37And this was the most testing save that the Ipswich keepers had to make so far.
00:36:46Enzo Fernandes arcs up to Palmer, O'Shea under it.
00:36:50Morsi for George Hurst, who's been feeding off scraps so far,
00:36:54but he's coming away here.
00:36:55He's got Johnson up there, it's a poor pass though.
00:36:59Well, Johnson made something of it, and CISO!
00:37:021-0 Ipswich!
00:37:04Something out of nothing for Kieran McKenna's men!
00:37:09Julio Enciso with his first goal for the club,
00:37:14to give Town the lead at the bridge.
00:37:17It is a razor-sharp counter-attack from Ipswich Town.
00:37:20Started with Hurst being too strong in the challenge.
00:37:25I thought he'd over-hit this pass for Johnson,
00:37:28but he sped onto it, got there ahead of Cucurea,
00:37:30when he really shouldn't have been able to.
00:37:32And Enciso skipped between two in blue,
00:37:35to prod it beyond Sanchez.
00:37:38Well worked from Ipswich.
00:37:40Poorly defended from Chelsea.
00:37:42And having had all the game up until now,
00:37:46Chelsea find themselves behind.
00:37:47Palmer rising, but not winning it.
00:37:52Johnson to Enciso, that's clever.
00:37:57Cayusta...
00:37:59Oh!
00:38:01Not far away from doubling Ipswich's lead.
00:38:04Sized this one up the Swede,
00:38:07and bent it half a foot wide of Sanchez's post.
00:38:10Well, attack, attack, attack is the chant from the home fans.
00:38:19They're not too happy with the way Chelsea are playing at the moment.
00:38:22Their mood might be dampened further here.
00:38:24And Cicero wants it wide, and gets it.
00:38:27And bent it in, and at the far post it's headed in!
00:38:30Ben Johnson!
00:38:32How about this?
00:38:34In Swichtown, 2-0 up at the bridge!
00:38:38Well, well, well.
00:38:40Although the flag is up, and there might be a reprieve here for Chelsea.
00:38:46And Cicero may have just gone a touch too early.
00:38:53Chelsea ripped apart on that far side.
00:38:56And Cicero did he go just a bit too early.
00:38:58Well, from that angle, I think he's on.
00:39:00The goal is good, and Ipswich Town are two goals to the good.
00:39:09And it's another Ipswich player who gets his first goal for the club today.
00:39:15And Cicero, the scorer of the first goal, is the architect of the second,
00:39:21with this beautiful arcing ball in.
00:39:23Cicero switched off, Johnson was switched on.
00:39:27And it's Chelsea 0, Ipswich Town 2.
00:39:32Only seen their side lose twice in the league here all season.
00:39:36The natives growing restless with what they've seen so far today.
00:39:42Chelsea get us underway in the second half,
00:39:45and if they're looking for some crumbs of comfort,
00:39:48Ipswich have dropped 25 points from winning positions,
00:39:51the joint most in the Premier League this season.
00:39:58Maduike, easily away from Burgess.
00:40:01And low and in!
00:40:0320 seconds gone in the second half,
00:40:06and Chelsea are back in it!
00:40:10Maduike sped away from Burgess,
00:40:13and was able to just put it on a plate for Cucurea.
00:40:17Just what the doctor ordered for Chelsea.
00:40:19Chelsea 1, Ipswich 2.
00:40:22Game on.
00:40:29Here's George Hurst.
00:40:31Hurst!
00:40:35Good try!
00:40:36Robert Sanchez at full stretch there.
00:40:42Good centre-forward play here from Hurst.
00:40:45Twisted inside of Chalapara and bent it just wide at the post.
00:40:50Curling, but not quite enough.
00:40:52Not quite enough.
00:40:57Cucurea.
00:40:59Enzo Fernandez.
00:41:01Here's Sancho.
00:41:03Cucurea.
00:41:05Behind from O'Shea.
00:41:10Short from Cucurea.
00:41:11It's switched off here, Ipswich.
00:41:13Sancho!
00:41:15Sensational from Jadon Sancho!
00:41:17To pull Chelsea level!
00:41:21Well, they fell asleep here, Ipswich, and they've paid the price.
00:41:26Sancho, in space, picked his spot and found it perfectly.
00:41:29An inch-perfect bender into the corner.
00:41:31And Chelsea, back level, and now looking for a winner.
00:41:34Caicedo, can Chelsea force a winner?
00:41:35Neto, no foul.
00:41:36Ipswich seem to wait for the whistle there.
00:41:37Palmer's got it!
00:41:38And Palmer has saved it!
00:41:39Max Calderon in the post.
00:41:40Alex Calderon in the post.
00:41:42Alois Natshu, pad his goal, he's to have a point in the mat.
00:41:44In the last minute.
00:41:46He has a point in the goal.
00:41:47Now, he's going to be able to trade the вони, he's got a point in the corner.
00:41:49It's a point in the difficulty for the team, but he's got a point in the day.
00:41:51And he's got one playing.
00:41:52Ipswich out the ball which is what he's got.
00:41:55Can you see him do?
00:41:57It's a point in the day.
00:41:59Let's see him win.
00:42:00And before you see the ball, it's the one playing, he's got the ball.
00:42:02Can you see him, he's got it?
00:42:04So, Alex Calderon, he's got the ball.
00:42:05He's got the ball, he's got the ball.
00:42:06Cole Palmer round the post, good try, smart save, Sancho, Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, what a save from Alex
00:42:22Palmer, that was a full-blooded hit from Enzo Fernandez who can barely believe that the Ipswich
00:42:29keeper's kept him out, well it's Palm Sunday and Alex Palmer has surely preserved a point here for
00:42:37Ipswich town. The first 20 minutes we were in control, creating chances, unfortunately we miss
00:42:45and then after the goal for 20-25 minutes I think we were not good enough first half and then second
00:42:53half we come back in the game. The commitment levels from the group of players against the team who
00:42:57are fighting to get in the Champions League fresh with their best 11, with the challenges we have
00:43:01coming into this game. I think the spirit that we showed from Julio to the player who's been here
00:43:07the longest was outstanding, it sums up the group. As you can see we had so many chances to seal the
00:43:12game and unfortunately it's just one of those games where the keeper's just making spectacular
00:43:18saves and it's very disappointing. Right then Alex, which one was your favourite?
00:43:22Um, yeah I think Sancho's second goal to be fair enough.
00:43:27No, it's what I'm here to do, do you know what I mean? Try and make yourself as big as possible and
00:43:33luckily I was there to make it safe. Conceding so quickly after half-time was always going to be
00:43:38difficult, the momentum was going to be with him so it was about digging in and trying to sort of
00:43:43put bodies on the line and sort of try and play as much as we could as well.
00:43:48OK, well there's only one place we can start this chat really. Chelsea attempted 34 shots,
00:43:53that's their highest total in a Premier League game under Enzo Maresca. Is it safe to say we know
00:43:58where the problem lies there? Oh gosh, it's so frustrating, you know as a striker, so wasteful
00:44:04in the final third. I mean they work so hard, they are in great shape most of the time but when you're
00:44:12getting into areas like this in the final third, they get players in the box, they don't mind working
00:44:16hard to get into these areas but so often they just choose the wrong finish or there's no,
00:44:23there's no anger with their finishing. Nobody really gets disappointed when they don't hit the
00:44:29target. There's nobody having to go at the player that's chosen the wrong kind of finish and being
00:44:35wasteful in front of goal is not going to get you in those champion league spots, it's not going to get
00:44:39you winning trophies again. Take the shot on, whether you're right footed or left footed, that's a first
00:44:44time finish, that's a first time finish and they refuse both of them and before you know it, the
00:44:50chance is gone. I speak about commitment and energy and the willingness to get forward, look at those
00:44:56blue shirts. But just, you know, that's all you have to do, it's a simple ball. Keep it simple, put your
00:45:03mate in but the chance is gone and they had players over. How do they improve this? Is this a coaching thing,
00:45:09is it a confidence thing? No, it's two thirds of the pitch, they're brilliant. They are brilliant,
00:45:15defensively they're getting better, in the middle third they play some good stuff, they are happy to
00:45:20get forward but in these areas here I don't think they have the kind of, by the way that's a great save,
00:45:25by the way from Alex Palmer, but they don't have the players with the right capabilities to get 20 goals,
00:45:3125 goals. They need one or two of those. In a league season where the title is wrapped up pretty
00:45:37much, relegation is pretty much wrapped up as well, one thing we do have to look forward to is battle
00:45:41for the Champions League places. Look how tight it is but Chelsea failed to take advantage today
00:45:46against a team that they would be expected to pick up three points against. Yeah, they'll be really
00:45:51disappointed because they did, as Dion showed, have lots of chances but it's been an ongoing problem
00:45:56for them. They've got a lot of young players who don't have that calmness at times and experience
00:46:01in the final third. Cole Palmer obviously has got that, but he's had a little blip, you know,
00:46:06and he's allowed by the way because he's been sensational but when he's had the blip no one's
00:46:10really stood up to be counted and that does happen when you've got so many inexperienced,
00:46:15but when I say inexperienced, I mean at winning trophies and getting over the line and playing season
00:46:21in season out so that's a problem and I think as well defensively at times today they're a little
00:46:26bit all over the place. He left Gusteau and Rhys James on the bench which was a strange one.
00:46:31I know they've got European commitments but they've got to get in that Champions League position. It's
00:46:34going to be really tight, it's going to be really exciting, hopefully it goes to the last day so
00:46:37we've got something to talk about. There were some really interesting quotes from Enzo Mareska in his
00:46:42press conference as well and he kind of appeared to suggest that the way the fans reacted to the slow
00:46:48build-up play actually contributed to the second goal that they conceded. What did you make of
00:46:52those quotes? Well he was asked the question about the fans booing and stuff so he had to respond but
00:46:57I think he's clutching at straws a little bit. I mean this game in isolation hasn't been the problem.
00:47:01They've been poor for a little while now and they've not put teams away and they've had some
00:47:06frustrating performances. The fans have been getting more frustrated as the weeks have gone by.
00:47:10What he really, I think in his position at the moment where some fans are on the fence with him,
00:47:14you're probably better saying we need to do better. We will get it right and we will get in this top
00:47:20four. I'll make it better. You know, positivity. Yeah, forget about the fans. Don't completely
00:47:26forget about them. Forget about the fans because the fans are always going to have their say. They're
00:47:30right, that's their prerogative. Leave them to say what they've got to say. Concentrate on getting your
00:47:35team into a position and at a level that's going to be challenging for top four, winning trophies all the
00:47:41time, which is defensively and up front. They're just lacking. Okay, they've won just five of 16
00:47:47league matches since the 22nd of December, which perhaps tells you why the fans are feeling a little
00:47:51bit frustrated. Okay, then Wolves' games have produced 102 Premier League goals this season.
00:47:57Only matches involving Tottenham have had more. Tom Gale, watch this one.
00:48:03Wolves' safety not yet mathematically guaranteed. They're unchanged despite Mateus Cunha's availability.
00:48:10Poster's four-game ban. Jürgen Strand-Larsen's aiming to become only the second player in the club's
00:48:15history to score in a fourth consecutive Premier League match. Tottenham's season's being kept alive
00:48:21by their Europa League hopes. Just one win in their last five domestically and six changes following
00:48:27Thursday's draw with Frankfurt. Spence, Gray, Basuma, Sartre, Davis and Tell come in. Son has a knock,
00:48:34so doesn't make the squad. Kulicewski returns on the bench.
00:48:42Wolves targeting a fourth straight win. Given the enormity of Tottenham's return leg in Germany
00:48:48on Thursday, I'm sure they'd be content escaping with a point and no injuries.
00:48:55Saar.
00:49:00Aitnouri finds Bellegarde, quick to turn.
00:49:04Saar's trying to keep pace.
00:49:05Early set piece for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
00:49:19Bellegarde, Vicario ups to punch. Aitnouri!
00:49:23Inside the opening 90 seconds.
00:49:30Wolverhampton Wanderers break the deadlock. Vicario's not happy.
00:49:37VAR will take a look.
00:49:39Check completes. Goal stands.
00:49:48Rayan Aitnouri does have a fourth Premier League goal of the season.
00:49:54The referee's call of a goal is checked and confirmed by VAR with Minetsi in an offside position,
00:50:00but deemed not to be impacting Vicario's ability to play the ball.
00:50:04Well, it's five losses in the last six in all competitions away from home for Ange Postacoglu,
00:50:12and it's a nightmare start in the West Midlands.
00:50:17Spence stops.
00:50:19Samedo making inroads. Vicario!
00:50:22Samedo!
00:50:23Strand-Larsen!
00:50:26I was about to say, how has he missed that?
00:50:29He was on his back trying to improvise,
00:50:32but it's a nervy start for Guillermo Vicario.
00:50:38Two bites of the cherry for the Norwegian,
00:50:41and he can't convert.
00:50:48Tepp up against Docherty.
00:50:51Squares to find Saar.
00:50:55The ball stuck under his feet.
00:50:56Bissouma!
00:51:01A parry from Saar.
00:51:03Spurs beginning to click into gear.
00:51:06Jose Saar looking for his seventh clean sheets of the season.
00:51:11Made to work by Yves Bissouma.
00:51:15Spence wants help.
00:51:16Gets it courtesy of Solanke.
00:51:22And he's dispossessed by Agbedou.
00:51:25Andre.
00:51:28Nate Noru.
00:51:31His cross.
00:51:32Munetzi.
00:51:33Strand-Larsen, is he there?
00:51:34Spence!
00:51:35Oh, no!
00:51:37Calamity stuff for Tottenham Hotspur.
00:51:41Jed Spence.
00:51:43The unfortunate man to be credited with the own goal.
00:51:48It won't make for pleasant viewing.
00:51:50Ange, trust me.
00:51:52Eight Noru's cross.
00:51:55Flicks up off Johnson.
00:51:56Munetzi's header.
00:51:59And it's the parry from Vicario.
00:52:02Straight into the body of the Tottenham left-back.
00:52:05He can't do anything.
00:52:07The task has got even greater for the visitors.
00:52:11Wolves two.
00:52:13Tottenham nil.
00:52:19Bergvall.
00:52:20Away from Eight Noru.
00:52:24Johnson.
00:52:27Oh, Semedo didn't get there.
00:52:29Tell does.
00:52:30And Spurs do have one back.
00:52:33I need another look to see who does get the final touch.
00:52:38But this is really positive from the substitute Bergvall.
00:52:42Johnson, he's aiming for the far posts.
00:52:46Tell.
00:52:47His strike comes off the back.
00:52:50Of Semedo.
00:52:52Wolves two.
00:52:53Tottenham one.
00:52:57Totty.
00:53:01Just bounced for Eight Noru.
00:53:02Everybody's able to recover the ball.
00:53:04Trent Larson.
00:53:05Trent Larson.
00:53:08He could not miss.
00:53:12Once again, it's a defensive horror show for Ange Postikoglu.
00:53:17This time, Romero, the guilty party.
00:53:24It's an awkward bounce on this ball, but surely the Spurs defenders' favourite to deal with that.
00:53:29Takes his eye off the ball.
00:53:30Takes his eye off the ball.
00:53:31Eight Noru capitalises.
00:53:35And Jürgen Strand-Larsen taps home.
00:53:39Wolves restore their two-goal advantage.
00:53:42Kulishevsky.
00:53:44Kulishevsky.
00:53:45Space for Bergvall.
00:53:49Tell.
00:53:52Spence.
00:53:54Cross was blocked by Bueno.
00:53:56Bergvall.
00:54:00Bergvall.
00:54:03Davies back.
00:54:04Romero off the bar.
00:54:05Richarlison with the follow-up.
00:54:08We are not done just yet.
00:54:11Spurs have hope.
00:54:13And it comes courtesy of a man who's played very little football this season due to injury.
00:54:20Thrown on for the last few minutes.
00:54:22And Richarlison rewards his manager with a goal.
00:54:29Now it's Vitor Pereira's turn to look anxious.
00:54:36Cunha.
00:54:38Chance to settle this!
00:54:41He won't be denied from grabbing the headlines, Matthias Cunha.
00:54:47And in his first appearance following a four-game ban,
00:54:51he's able to punish Tottenham Hotspur.
00:54:54Far too lackadaisical.
00:54:57And that is clinical.
00:55:00Wolves four, Spurs two.
00:55:02This is a team.
00:55:06This is the spirit that I want in my team.
00:55:10The first eleven.
00:55:11But it's not the work of the first eleven.
00:55:14It's the work of everybody.
00:55:15Because we need to be competitive in the trainings.
00:55:19We need to come from the bench and to help the team.
00:55:22Even in five minutes.
00:55:24And we create this spirit.
00:55:25We have this spirit.
00:55:26We played pretty well, to be honest.
00:55:28But obviously we conceded some pretty poor goals.
00:55:30And individual errors that unfortunately cost us today.
00:55:35And mistakes are part of football.
00:55:37You know, I'm not going to be holding anyone to account.
00:55:39The only person that gets hold to account is me.
00:55:41Like I said, it's just one of those things in football.
00:55:43We got punished for errors today.
00:55:45And made the game really difficult for us.
00:55:48It's nice to have been playing a big part of it.
00:55:51And I think maybe I had an off day today.
00:55:53But to still grab a goal, I think that's the most important.
00:55:55The team needs that.
00:55:56And I think we created a good spirit again at home.
00:56:00Showing what we can do.
00:56:03I'll tell you what an atmosphere it looked to be at Molyneux today.
00:56:06Four consecutive top flight wins for the first time since 1972.
00:56:11Word on the street, guys.
00:56:12I know you'd rather be there.
00:56:13Vitor Pereira is apparently currently out in Wolverhampton.
00:56:16He's enjoying those points and those points as we speak.
00:56:21They're brilliant.
00:56:22They've been brilliant.
00:56:23Yeah.
00:56:23But how much of today was about Spurs being poor as well?
00:56:27I've been on the end of that atmosphere, by the way.
00:56:29That ground.
00:56:30And it is hard to play.
00:56:30They both have.
00:56:31But Spurs made it very easy for them indeed.
00:56:35Their defending was incredibly poor organisation.
00:56:39I mean, look at the edge of the D.
00:56:41There's two players there.
00:56:42This is schoolboy stuff.
00:56:44You're going to have to have at least one player marking or in between those two there.
00:56:48And it's a free strike.
00:56:50I mean, some of the decisions you'll see here, I have no idea really what Vicario's doing there.
00:56:56Just clear the ball.
00:56:58Get rid of it.
00:56:59Give your teammates a chance to get up the pitch and regroup.
00:57:03The reactions as well.
00:57:04No pressure on the ball.
00:57:06No pressure on the ball.
00:57:07And no pressure on the ball again.
00:57:09Ball goes in the box.
00:57:10I mean, it's a great ball in there.
00:57:11Nothing comes of this in the end.
00:57:13However, an own goal with nothing to do with a Wolves player at all.
00:57:19It's just so poor.
00:57:20No communication.
00:57:22The keeper's not said anything.
00:57:23The keeper should grab that ball and take it in anyway.
00:57:27If you watch the top of the screen, this is what you've got to watch here.
00:57:29Sarabia and Tell.
00:57:30Now, Sarabia's actually goal side of Tell because the fullback's gone past it.
00:57:35Now, Tell realises he's there.
00:57:37Fine.
00:57:38He's now goal side.
00:57:40He's in the right position.
00:57:41Now, we should have no problems at all with Sarabia.
00:57:44As we roll it on, again, there's no pressure on the ball.
00:57:47Sarabia's now gone past his opposite number.
00:57:50Again, nothing comes of it.
00:57:52But nobody says anything.
00:57:54And, Dan, when you keep doing that, it becomes a habit.
00:57:58If you're not held accountable, Dan, it becomes a habit.
00:58:00Exactly that.
00:58:01And it's happened too many times this season.
00:58:02It's never just the same player.
00:58:04It's a mentality that's wrong in their defending and their professionalism
00:58:08and their organisation.
00:58:09There's so many aspects.
00:58:10I mean, that's another ludicrous goal.
00:58:11I don't know.
00:58:12He's letting go.
00:58:13Jed Spence there, which, to be fair, he's been good recently.
00:58:15But that was poor defending.
00:58:17It comes from the manager.
00:58:19It comes from organising the team tactically.
00:58:22Where's Birkvall going here, Dan?
00:58:24I mean, what's he going into his mate?
00:58:25What's he going into?
00:58:26He's gone into Cunha.
00:58:28I can't believe what he's doing.
00:58:30I get to play so off the cuff at times.
00:58:32Yeah.
00:58:32I really do.
00:58:33And it's why Spurs fans are so frustrated at the moment.
00:58:37Because one week, they might see an half-decent performance.
00:58:39Then the next two games, they're all over the place.
00:58:41And conceding goals left, right and centre.
00:58:44It's been a really, really bad season.
00:58:47It's been tough, isn't it?
00:58:47Yeah.
00:58:48But Ange actually said post-match that he didn't think they played too well today.
00:58:52Do you agree?
00:58:53I don't agree.
00:58:53I mean, interpretation of playing well for me is when a team attacks with some good rhythm,
00:58:58defends well together, fights for each other, does normal things,
00:59:02has good at football IQ together, collectively.
00:59:04I mean, some of their defending, as Dion alluded to, was schoolboyish.
00:59:10It was really that bad.
00:59:12Basic stuff.
00:59:12Basic stuff.
00:59:13Yes, they played some nice patterns and they made some nice chances.
00:59:16Got some good players, of course, they're going to.
00:59:18But that, sorry, Ange, I mean, that's not good play.
00:59:21It's good forward play.
00:59:23Yeah, it is.
00:59:23Good play is being competitive in a game by being organised, defensive at times,
00:59:28being good going forward, recovery runs, winning seconds.
00:59:31That's a good performance.
00:59:32There were some good aspects of forward players.
00:59:35Yeah, you've got to see, when you play so off the cuff as Spurs do,
00:59:39you have to know when a player's gone by you and he's left a gap which you have to fill in.
00:59:45It's all about preparing for just in case something happens.
00:59:49That's what it's all about.
00:59:50Of course, we knew that Thursday was going to be big for Spurs and their season.
00:59:53It feels even bigger now.
00:59:55How do they change and kind of amend their play, their errors that they're making,
01:00:00and also change the whole mood around the place before then?
01:00:02Yeah, I don't see a lot of communication between the players as well.
01:00:06They just seem to play as individuals off the cuff.
01:00:09They seem to play a pass to their team mate and then they go,
01:00:11well, I've done my bit.
01:00:13It doesn't work like that.
01:00:14If they play like that in the week, they're really going to get hurt.
01:00:16Also, I don't see enough finger pointing.
01:00:18Yeah.
01:00:19And kicking up the backside, criticising each other, demanding more.
01:00:22For a reason.
01:00:23Exactly.
01:00:23OK, then, well, here's the best of the action from yesterday,
01:00:26starting at Arsenal, who were still mathematically in the title race
01:00:30they hosted Brentford.
01:00:38Raya came for it and took it.
01:00:42Collins wasn't too far away from getting ahead on that.
01:00:45Raya's found Rice.
01:00:47Rice getting away from Damsgaard.
01:00:48He's got Partey to his right.
01:00:50Martinelli ahead of him.
01:00:52They've got space here, Arsenal.
01:00:53They've not had much in this game.
01:00:55And now they have the lead because Thomas Partey puts Arsenal in front.
01:01:02Rice ran a mighty long way.
01:01:06Partey ran with him.
01:01:08Partey with all kinds of room and a very accomplished finish.
01:01:15Coyote here, that was nicely done.
01:01:17The little deep ball is dangerous.
01:01:18Collins got a touch on it and it's hooked in.
01:01:21Wissler has equalised for Brentford.
01:01:34Lovely first-time ball by Munoz.
01:01:38Sars-Cross, Eze, 1-0 Palace.
01:01:42And Oliver Glasner's in-form team are in front.
01:01:47A big kiff of the cheeks in Pep Guardiola.
01:01:52Right on top of Edison.
01:01:54Who made a mess of it.
01:01:55And Crystal Palace are two in front.
01:02:01It's Chris Richards' goal.
01:02:07Kevin De Bruyne.
01:02:09Here he comes.
01:02:11And he scores!
01:02:13Only three more games left after today at the Etihad.
01:02:16He's left his mark on this one.
01:02:22De Bruyne and Gondorwin missed it.
01:02:24Mahmoush didn't.
01:02:272-2.
01:02:31And from two down, Manchester City are back level.
01:02:38Lovely weighted ball.
01:02:39O'Reilly's pulled back to De Bruyne now.
01:02:42And then Kovacic!
01:02:47And for the first time today, Manchester City are in front.
01:02:55McAtee's on the move.
01:02:56He's taken it in his stride.
01:02:59Will he get his goal eventually?
01:03:02He will.
01:03:05And that is a seventh Premier League assist for Edison.
01:03:10That ball was sublime.
01:03:17McAtee against Chilwell.
01:03:20And then O'Reilly!
01:03:25Well, it's a landmark goal for him.
01:03:26It's a very first Premier League strike for 20-year-old Nico O'Reilly.
01:03:40Marilla.
01:03:41Showed too much of it to McNeil.
01:03:43Three on two, Everton.
01:03:46When is McNeil going to pass?
01:03:47Well, he has got it through for Decoré!
01:03:49An Everton winner at the city ground.
