00:00Breaking news coming in TVK's Vijay joins a Supreme Court battle against VUKF law.
00:06Vijay challenges VUKF law in top court after Congress, AIMIM and DMK.
00:14TVK moves Supreme Court against the VUKF law.
00:18Mega VUKF political fireworks have now ensued.
00:24Shristi Oja is joining us for more on this Shristi.
00:27Shristi, what are some of the objections if you've managed to access the plea filed by TVK?
00:33What are some of the objections that they have mentioned?
00:38Well, Harsha, as you pointed out, this act is a best party, TVK, which has filed the petition before the top court.
00:44He hasn't moved Supreme Court in his personal capacity.
00:46He has filed the petition challenging and questioning the constitutional validity of the VUKF Amendment Act 2025
00:53and the changes that the act has brought in.
00:58This basically, his plea basically adjoined to a list of already existing petitions.
01:02Over 15 pleas at least have been filed before Supreme Court.
01:07And the petitioners here include representatives of different political parties,
01:12including DNK, Congress, RJD, Aam Agri Party.
01:15As of now, on 16th April, Supreme Court will hear at least 10 petitions which are listed before the top court.
01:22And crucial day, 16th April, because since, while we know one after the other multiple pleas have been filed,
01:30it would matter at the end of the day what the top court would have to say about these amendments and the validity.
01:35Also, because many petitions have also sought a stay and an interest stay against the act.
01:41Now, we do know that, quote, the Supreme Court's often reluctant to grant any interest stays
01:46when challenges to legislations are concerned.
01:49This is a presumption in favor of the constitutionality of the act.
01:53But considering the demand has been made in these fees,
01:56prayers have been made in multiple petitions,
01:58it will be crucial to see on 16th whether the Supreme Court decides to act in any way or not.
02:03Thank you so much, Srishti, for bringing us all those details.
