Edwardian royal elegance on display in new exhibition at Buckingham Palace

A rare exhibition exploring the glamorous lives and fashions of two royal couples who reigned over Britain during the Edwardian period opens at the King's Gallery in Buckingham Palace. ‘The Edwardians: Age of Elegance’ brings together more than 300 works from the Royal Collection and will be on display until Nov. 23, 2025. The centerpiece is the coronation gown Queen Alexandra wore on Aug. 9, 1902, made of silk embroidered with thousands of gold sequins and designed by the French house Morin Blossier.

00:00Yeah, this is me.
00:30I mean, that was very interesting.
02:52I think there are many works in this exhibition that haven't been displayed before and it
02:56was a key moment to be able to bring those out and display them.
03:01I think there may be some surprises in there for people that they're not expecting.
03:05For example, the works by Gilbert or the works by Oscar Wilde dedicated to the King.
03:11Those are perhaps hidden treasures up till now and now we'll be able to display them for
03:16the first time.
03:17So that's very exciting.
03:18Thank you, Mark.
