00:00All right, Bryson and Rory have kind of been the stories here of Friday.
00:04We leave Rory last night, Keith, with two double bogeys in the last three holes
00:08to put himself at even.
00:10All the talk is, it's in Rory's head again.
00:13Typical Masters, Rory playing well.
00:15One mistake derails his day.
00:17Comes out today, par one birdie, I believe, on the front.
00:20And then, Keith, Rory's back nine, electric.
00:24Well, you know, you can get that done around here on the back nine.
00:27In both of those par fives, you can make eagles.
00:29There are plenty of holes that you can birdie.
00:31And I tell you what, I listened to McIlroy in the press room afterwards.
00:35They had him sit in, and Rory is just pumping the brakes big time.
00:39You know, he talked about how this was a quick turnaround.
00:41That probably was a good thing for him.
00:43And that he got out on the golf course quickly today, and he knew what he had to do.
00:47He knew he had to shoot a low round, and he was able to do that.
00:49And he's using the recipe, Mike.
00:51And I talked about this earlier in the week, and I wrote about it at Read the Line.
00:54You have got to play the par fours well here if you want to contend.
01:00And Rory today, he shoots six under 66.
01:02Yes, he's four under on the par fives.
01:04Everybody's going to do that, though.
01:06He shot two under on those 10 par fours, and there's his six under right there.
01:10And that is part of the key.
01:12If he wants to go on and contend and be a part of the mix late on Sunday, he's got to keep that up.
01:17And I tell you what, you talk about the tale of two different press conferences, right?
01:22You had Rory first and then Bryson, and I will get to him in a second.
01:25But Rory, it was everything about, this is a long, you know, 72 holes, takes forever.
01:29This is a long race.
01:30You know, everyone's like, could you get excited about the weekend?
01:32He's like, I'm not going to get excited.
01:34We've got plenty of golf to go.
01:35You know, all the kind of Tigerisms.
01:37It's almost like Tiger wrote the script for him.
01:39So it'll be interesting to see if Rory can stay patient and continue to be successful on those par fours.
01:45Quick update, Keith, Bernie left himself a little too much on the bone for his par putt, and he did miss it and tapped in for bogey on 18.
01:58So Bernard Langer at three over, he is in the clubhouse now.
02:03And like you just said, it's going to be plus two.
02:06You know, there really isn't enough out there to get that thing moved down on the numbers.
02:12So unfortunately for Bernard Langer, not going to have it.
02:15And I told you Phil hit it in the creek there on 13.
02:18He was able to rally for a par despite hitting it there.
02:23So Phil pars 13, still plus one and minus two for the day.
02:28We would love to see Phil playing this weekend.
02:32Next, Bryson, electric on the front nine, the opposite of Rory.
02:36He was electric on the front.
02:38Some of those shots he was pumping out there today.
02:40Now, I don't know, Keith, if he lost some gas on the back.
02:43Maybe it got a little tougher for him there.
02:45But Bryson, as usual, was box office today at the Masters.
02:49I hope it's like that Saturday and Sunday, too.
02:52Carver high.
02:53I mean, how many range balls you want to hit in a week?
02:5510,000?
02:56I mean, at some point.
02:56I mean, at some point, I'm going to add up.
03:01There's only so many pimento and cheese sandwiches that that guy can ingest in order to counter the thousands of range balls this guy's hitting.
03:08I mean, it's not just even a physical contest.
03:10It's the mental contest.
03:12He's spending all this mental energy over there in the tournament practice center.
03:16You know, it's just crazy to me.
03:18But you know what?
03:18But, hey, the guy's a perfectionist.
03:20It makes him happy and everything.
03:21And here's the thing, right?
03:23When it came to Bryson and he comes in the press center, we're getting – I kind of go back and forth on this.
03:30We don't get Bryson a lot anymore, right?
03:32But I almost feel like that's a good thing we only have to hear from him four times a year because it was so over the top afterwards.
03:38We were talking about, like, Bryson, how do you be patient?
03:41He's like, well, you know, he starts talking about meditation and being in the moment and how he has to calm himself down.
03:46And then you look at these range sessions and, like, what part of you is calm, Bryson, right?
03:50And he's talking about how when he goes through a range session that he has anywhere from 15 to 20 different swing thoughts that he's working on.
03:59And this is, like, tournament week, like yesterday, that he's working through in order to get to see that the perfect shot matches up with the vision he has for the perfect shot.
04:08I mean, Bryson – I mean, he is going to be completely entertaining all weekend.
04:1268 today, very strong.
04:14Again, he's another guy.
04:16One under on the threes, one under on the fours.
04:19He goes after the par fives like he definitely can.
04:21Very, very solid.
04:23And 51 putts in two days, Mike.
04:2651 putts around this place.
04:27That's going to put you in second place or better.
