Story and the Sox walk-off against the Blue Jays to avoid sweep! Wiggy isn't worried about the Toronto series. Chalk it up to the bad weather?
Transcript
00:00You know, we were talking about this earlier and I've always,
00:04I've been critical about Alex Corkas about just him getting more of the blame
00:10at times and like what we're hearing from him now,
00:13because we've been critical about kind of making excuses for these guys
00:16playing in the cold weather.
00:18And I told you,
00:19I heard on the broadcast where they were trying to potentially change the
00:22start of the game time.
00:24Well, is that accurate or that is the,
00:27that is the suggestion is that Alex Corka wanted to change.
00:32He said he,
00:32he asked Sam Kennedy to move them up for the week.
00:37And because of the cold weather.
00:38Yeah.
00:39So both teams are playing in the cold weather.
00:42Like, what are we, what are we doing?
00:44Well, that's why I'd say like sometimes when we,
00:47when, when we criticize these guys,
00:49we tend to leave Alex Corka off the blame pie.
00:54And you know, part of, part of some of these things could be the potential of,
00:59you know,
01:00if you're willing to build in excuses for your players.
01:02I have an idea, not Hill notes earlier in the day.
01:06Yeah.
01:06Why did the Red Sox train in Fort Myers if they start the season in Boston?
01:11Right.
01:11They should train in Alaska.
01:14Well, I mean.
01:15That way they're ready for the cold.
01:17Belichick practices in all seasons.
01:19Yep.
01:19Yeah.
01:20When the, when it was rain, he would wet the balls.
01:22So you're saying they, they lead the league in, in case, right?
01:27Right.
01:27And double plays.
01:29So you're saying that Alex Corka,
01:32by suggesting that they change the start time of the baseball game,
01:37is deploying an excuse as opposed to pointing the finger at himself and saying,
01:43we didn't do,
01:43we didn't do a good enough job in Fort Myers when it came to hitting the,
01:47working on hitting the baseball.
01:49Yeah.
01:49The K's don't bother me as much.
01:50I think it's about more about building in that excuse of, well,
01:53it's cold, it's cold, it's cold.
01:55And then when things maybe go bad, they'll be like, well,
01:58we can find an excuse on why it's going bad.
02:02I think that the K's are just guys.
02:05Everybody now is trying to hit the ball out of the park and they swing for the
02:08fences and they swing at bad pitches.
02:10And, you know, there's not really a lot of patience there.
02:13But I would just say it's more of building the excuse in.
02:17Like we get on coaches for giving their teams excuses.
02:22And I would say to Corka, like, don't even give them that out.
02:26I mean, yeah, I get it's cold.
02:27It's cold for everybody.
02:28But when you start to say, you know, May,
02:31can we move the game because of this cold weather?
02:33It allows you to build in an excuse, which, you know,
02:38a lot of people don't give.
02:39Well, I mean,
02:39I guess you have some guys on this team who have yet to play in this kind of
02:43weather.
02:45I, you know, it was snowing opening day in Portland,
02:50Maine with the Sea Dogs.
02:51It was snowing and they played the baseball game.
02:54So I.
02:54But this is the perfect thing for fans of baseball, right?
02:58When you look at spans fans of baseball, this would be the perfect time to say,
03:04hey, this is why we should eliminate some games because then maybe we could
03:09start the season May 1st.
03:11And in all the cold weather area places, it's not just Boston,
03:15but I bet it's cold in New York.
03:17You don't want the season to start until May 1st.
03:20Like, well, what's the difference between April 1st and May 1st?
03:23Yeah.
03:23The weather's just better.
03:25Probably 30 days.
03:26Yeah, exactly.
03:26But the weather's better.
03:28I mean, so if why is it like what's this whole significance of starting it
03:35April 1st?
03:35And also, like, if I'm if I was planning on going to the games this week,
03:39I'd be happy that Alex Cora asked Sam Kennedy to move them earlier.
03:43It stinks sitting there.
03:45We're not.
03:45There were not a lot of people there yesterday.
03:47And so.
03:48Right.
03:49But that's the weather.
03:51It's I.
03:52Yeah.
03:53I mean, I don't know.
03:54But at least it was sunny yesterday.
03:55It's like they've done it.
03:57That like people have people go out in the cold and and build buildings.
04:02Yeah.
04:02But that's their job.
04:04Greg, you always go back to like that.
04:06I do.
04:06Do you want to go because I care about regular people?
04:09So what about all the regular people that want to go to the baseball game and don't want
04:13to sit in twenty five degree weather?
04:16Those are regular people.
04:17So it's a way to help out regular people who spend money, who spend a good amount of money
04:22that don't want to sit out there when it's twenty five degrees and drizzling or it feels
04:27like it's ten degrees.
04:28Stop the season at the beginning of May.
04:31OK, so and then are you going to end the season in September because it gets cold?
04:35Yeah.
04:35No.
04:36I was like, I hate to break it to people.
04:38It gets cold in October.
04:39Right.
04:40But it's the average temperature warmer in April or October.
04:44October.
04:45Yeah.
04:45I bet it's October.
04:46Yeah.
04:46I would probably agree with Courtney.
04:48Yeah.
04:48You know, but but that would be a way to shorten the season and, you know, make the game better
04:55better for fans that want to that live in these areas where they, you know, warmer in
05:00October.
05:01Yeah, it is.
05:01Yeah.
05:02So average by four degrees.
05:03Yeah.
05:03There you go.
05:04So I have it by six.
05:06Oh, baby.
05:07Then I go with Curtis because Curtis is the weather guy.
05:09He's the weather guy.
05:11And then if they could do the World Series, you could have Wyclef do a song, Gone Till November.
05:15Right.
05:16And how many people complain about baseball just being too long?
05:19This is John from Gardner.
05:21Hey, John.
05:23Good morning.
05:23Good folks.
05:24Speaking of the weather, I hope that conditions out here, I do not portend ill things for my
05:28golf season.
05:30Gardner Municipal was scheduled to open today.
05:33Guess what we got out here?
05:34Oh, it's snow.
05:35It's snow.
05:35You have snow.
05:36Yeah.
05:36It's like the pavement isn't covered, but the grass, my tenants' cars are completely
05:41covered.
05:42So I don't think we're going to have the opening today.
05:44Hey, listen, I've had a question about the match for a while, Greg.
05:47Yeah.
05:48Is it true that after arduous negotiations that now, besides the six strokes you're giving
05:53shine, you have to compete with a shovel and a rake?
05:57There is no strokes.
05:59No strokes.
05:59And when it comes to the match, I was earlier this morning, my good friend Walter over at
06:05Granite Lynx.
06:06Great guy.
06:06Uh, asked what the official date is, and he is suggesting a Tuesday in May.
06:12So, uh, although I will say this, there may, I, we received a request for a second match.
06:20I don't want to get too deep in this, but on the road.
06:23Yes.
06:23On the road being another state.
06:25Wow.
06:26Yeah.
06:26Am I right about that?
06:27Uh, you are correct about that, Greg.
06:28Uh, quite a ways away to not, not just, you know, next neighboring state, but anyway,
06:33as in Greg and I would have to fly together.
06:35Well, it might not, it might not be together, but okay.
06:39Uh, on the same plane, maybe two different sections of the plane.
06:43Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
06:44It will be at Granite Lynx and it will be, uh, it'll be in May.
06:48So weather should be fine.
06:50Yeah.
06:50Like no complaining about the weather.
06:51We should feel good in May.
06:53And if you have one bad day in May, you can kind of live with that.
06:57And now, isn't it really like you brought up April 1st.
07:01The season starts at the end of March.
07:02So it doesn't even really matter no more.
07:04So I would eliminate it and say, Hey, we're going to help out these teams.
07:09We're going to start the major league baseball season.
07:12The beginning of the year.
07:12Here's a text from main wiggy, which says people sit in the cold and rain all year long
07:17to watch Patriots games.
07:18Why can't the Red Sox fans do the same?
07:20Agree.
07:21Well, cause there's not 162 of them.
07:25Bundle yourself up.
07:26And how many do they really sit in the cold weather?
07:29Be honest.
07:29How many, there's only eight home games, sometimes nine.
07:33How many of those are really in the cold weather?
07:36At least two or three.
07:37Okay.
07:38So you could deal with two or three.
07:40This here, the, the Red Sox, you could say you could potentially have, depending on
07:46if you're playing in Baltimore, which is cold.
07:48And then you go from Baltimore to St. Louis and then St. Louis to Boston.
07:52You're going to move the games.
07:54Alex Cora wants you to move the games to sunlight.
07:58And so then nobody who works can get there and go to a baseball game in April.
08:03It seems ridiculous.
08:04But think of how many people went to that game.
08:07What time is opening day?
08:09Okay.
08:10That's a special thing, Curtis.
08:11It's always like that.
08:12But what's the toughest ticket of the whole season?
08:15Because, because it's opening day and people take that day off.
08:17They're not going to take a random, you know, Wednesday.
08:21Like, let's use this week.
08:22Would you bring a client to Fenway, not in a suite, last night?
08:25No.
08:25No.
08:26Or even a couple nights ago when it was really cold.
08:29It's much, I mean, given the way we are with remote work and the way your phone has
08:33everything you need on it, if you get a call, you want to go where you can sit and enjoy.
08:38Opening day was gorgeous.
08:41You are far more likely to have a day like that in May than you are in April.
08:44It's not even close.
08:45Yeah.
08:46Like, it would be an offense to a client if it was 32 degrees and drizzling.
08:50And you're like, so what do you think about joining us for another year?
08:54Where the guy's got, like, a drenched hot dog before he sits down.
08:57I don't know.
08:59I just, it's like, it's been done that way forever.
09:03It didn't seem to be an issue for Yaz.
09:06Yeah, but does that mean it's right?
09:07How many things have changed, Greg, since Yaz was not done?
09:10Manning left field.
09:11I didn't see Yaz out there shivering with a full poopy schnizzle on.
09:17Pooh-sheisty.
09:18A pooh-sheisty on.
09:19No, he just had a Marlboro Red in the sixth inning.
09:22I didn't see Yaz with a long underwear on under his Red Sox.
09:28Weren't they all, like, drinking during games, though?
09:30They had a liquor blanket.
09:32I bet he did have a liquor blanket.
09:34They were fine.
09:35They had moonshine on top of the eighth.
09:37They were full, the underneath old school pajama sets.
09:42Like, that was the normal thing to wear back then.
