00:30and she referred to them as looters have you seen that firstly the video and if you have like how
00:36do you think is that justified for on their part to kind of use those kind of terms because they
00:42are saying that history is history yes to answer your question I have seen that video I want to
00:58tell you that not just as an Indian not just as a humanitarian but just as anyone who has even an
01:09iota of empathy or an iota of of humanity within yourself it will anger you I don't want to mince my
01:20words I don't want to be diplomatic in my answer and I certainly don't want to beat around the bush
01:26when I say how ridiculous was she to say that and how dare she she was calling those thousands
01:35of people looters they were innocent people who who conglomerated there right there on that was what
01:44was meant to be an auspicious day of Baisakhi thinking something else was going to be the eventuality of
01:50the day and look what happened by admission general Dyer has said that he only stopped shooting
01:57when the bullets ran out and she went on in that interview to say that he loved India and all kinds
02:04of things and how that he had the greatest compassion what love can you have in your heart when your actions
02:12only spoke of hate and the fact that she is living in a lala land of her own and is in some delusion of
02:20her own and I don't know her I don't haven't met her and I don't wish to meet her but the fact that she
02:25even said those things just makes me so angry so angry on a humanitarian level who called the video
02:33the fact that she had such disdain for one of the biggest genocides in the history of our nation
02:40and the history of the world and the fact that she was so disdainful of it made me just angry made me want
02:47and demand an apology even more
02:50you have had a lot of films and while you have been the receiving end of criticism for that as well
03:01but you have continued to do so what's the driving force behind it and does it I'm sure you are used
03:08to the online trolls or like people who are just sitting behind the screen kind of criticizing you
03:12for those choices but when that kind of criticism comes from within the industry does that hurt
03:16I don't think criticising I don't think anyone has criticised the films
03:28I don't think anyone has criticised the films that will criticise the films like I have made
03:33Padman I have made you tell me the films like Toiletik Prem, Air Lift, Casery 1 and Casery 2
03:41there are so many films there are so many films that will criticise the films that will criticise
03:44I have made it in my heart and it is a film that tells people a lot of things and tells people
03:54and tells people, it is no film
03:56so I don't think anyone has criticised it
04:00so recently Jay Bachchan Mahm has said that because of the Toilet name she has said that I will not watch that film
04:06now if they have said that it will be true, I don't know
04:10if I have said that it will be true, I don't know if I have said that it will be true
04:12if I have said that it will be true, if I have said that it will be true
04:14and I just wanted to get your reaction also on the video that Karan has just responded to
04:22one nation's trauma is other nation's lesson
04:28that is what she never understood
04:30that is why she kept on saying history is history
04:34I don't think so
04:36she has understood the lesson also what has gone through it
04:38as what Karan has said
04:40it is absolutely, I appreciate it
04:42and the way he said it also is absolutely right
04:44and you will see that whole thing
04:46the anger
04:48by the time the film comes to the climax
04:50you will understand how much anger there was
04:52and I would rather say that you watch the film to see the anger
04:56Thank you so much sir
04:58and thank you for bringing this story
05:00Akshay sir and Purva sir
05:02my question to you both
05:04first of all Akshay sir I want to ask you
05:06Akshay sir I want to ask you
05:08today's social media generation
05:10for example
05:12Gen Z generation
05:15and at that time
05:17what's ganz-perfect
05:20you understand
05:22by your
05:24okay
05:24what's interesting
05:26when on a presentation
05:28when you are taking
05:30when you take
05:32atenção
05:33Because
05:35howel
06:46Thank you, sir.
06:48Hi, Akshay, sir.
06:49Apoorba, sir, मेरा क्वेशन आपसे भी है, दूसरा.
06:52Yes.
06:52After blockbusters like KSRI, Good News, आप फिर से Akshay sir के साथ आएं, तो ऐसी कौन सी बात है, कौन सी चीज है, जो आपको Akshay sir तक खीच कर ही लाल देखें?
07:02Aap selfie भूल गएं.
07:04Apoor, selfie.
07:06One out of three is not bad.
07:08So, I think over the years, you've really built a very strong working relationship with Akshay sir, you know, because of, based on trust and a creative alignment.
07:18I think anybody who knows Akshay sir, and anybody who's worked with him will echo that, you know, he's extremely professional, hardworking, he's a very creatively involved actor, and he makes the entire shoot such a pleasurable experience.
07:32He is, as an individual and as an actor, he is so, so connected with all demographics, with all age groups, and very honestly spoken, you know, KSRI 2 has only been possible with Akshay sir.
07:45So, thank you sir, and we hope to do many more KSRIs with him, and many more other films also with him.
07:51Hi Akshay sir, over here towards your left.
07:53Sir, how are you sir?
07:54Hi Himesh, how are you?
07:55Sir, my question to you is, when we speak of apology, recently Mr. Bob Blackman, I think, has appealed to the British government to apologize for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
08:06How do you view the fact that people are finally waking up after over 100 years to this incident, and, of course, I know, British deserves to apologize to India.
08:13So, what do you have to say about that?
08:15I think lots of things will change.
08:17I am not here with a begging bowl to say, they should say sorry.
08:21But I want them to at least watch this movie, and realize the mistake.
08:26Bucky, the other things will flow automatically from their mouth.
08:30Because it is bound, the apology is bound to happen.
08:33It will flow on its own.
08:35But I just want them to watch this film.
08:37That is all.
08:38I want the British government to watch the film.
08:40I want King Charles to watch the film.
08:42Then they should see it, what happened.
08:45I am not saying, but the rest will follow automatically.
08:48Let's hope the film leaves an impact.
08:50And Karan sir, my question to you is, how do you plan, what are your plans for release of Kesari?
08:56Because, you know, films like this require a specific release strategy.
08:59So, what is your strategy for bringing Kesari on the big screen?
09:02I think that this is actually the beginning of our distribution arm.
09:09As Dharma Distribution's first Hindi film will start.
09:13And I think that there can't be a better beginning.
09:15Of course, we realize, we are cognizant of the times, and we know.
09:18But, you know, I have a feeling that when a film is this powerful,
09:23and has this kind of intensity, and this kind of communication to our audience,
09:27we keep putting films into boxes.
09:30This is a multiplex film, this is a single film picture, this is a tier one film, tier two.
09:35We all think that we all understand and we all know.
09:38Analysts are a lot of people, communicate a lot of people in social media.
09:44There are all their opinions and I respect them all because it's a democratic nation.
09:48But I want to say, kisi ko kuch pata nahi ke us Friday pae kya hoga.
09:52Only an audience will decide.
09:54Audience hi raja, aur audience hi malik, aur audience hi sab kuch.
09:59To hum jitne bhi strategy banalei, wo Friday sab kuch badal sakta hai.
10:03And I am quite sure, ye Friday sab kuch badalega.
10:08Hello.
10:09On this side.
10:11This side.
10:11Hello.
10:11Hi.
10:12This is Amar from Amarazi.
10:13My first question is for Karan.
10:16The director Karan.
10:16And I have one more question.
10:19So, my question is this.
10:21Director, producer and whatnot, sir.
10:22Welcome.
10:23Thank you so much for being here and thank you for doing this.
10:26Perhli cheez, ekhi sawaal hai mere paas aapke liye, sir.
10:28Were you hesitant at any point where you thought ki historians or the audiences, how would they react to all of this?
10:36No.
10:37Firstly, thank you everybody for being here today.
10:41No.
10:41To answer your question, never.
10:43In fact, there are various times that I have heard stories that are true stories of valor and bravery, of unsung heroes, of stories embedded in the archives of history that haven't been portrayed on celluloid.
10:53It took me back to a few instances, a few stories that came on my table, and I immediately reacted.
11:00The very first film was Razi.
11:02I still remember the brave story of Sehmat, who actually fought an unsung battle, a story that you did not hear of.
11:11Razi went on to kind of prove that true stories that resonate so gorgeously, beautifully, and bravely, just like Razi did, can truly strike a chord with an audience globally.
11:22Kazi attack that came again, which was related and linked to Razi in a certain sense, because they both dealt with the same intel that actually made us win a war, a battle.
11:32Kaisari, the very first Kaisari, the brave battle of Saragiri, where actually 21 valiant and brave Sikh soldiers fought till the evening, a battle that people thought would end in seconds and minutes,
11:48but went on till the evening because of the bravery, the valor.
11:52And then this absolutely outstanding story of C. Shankaran Nair, based on the book, The Case That Shook the Empire, a man who actually nearly brought the reputation of the crown down, literally to their knees.
12:09A battle we didn't know about.
12:10We knew the massacre, but none of us knew the truth that behind the scenes there was this brave battle fought by this brave man.
12:17And that story just deeply resonated, because every time we have watched the tragedy, the travesty of that terrifying massacre, you know, we felt the pain, we felt the anger, we still feel the anger.
12:31Because what makes us all angry, and that's what came through in this beautiful screenplay, was the fact that there isn't an apology even now.
12:41No one has apologized, neither the crown, nor the monarchy, nor the British government.
12:46All of us, of course, know about the British Raj.
12:49We've come out of that, valiantly as a country.
12:52But we, as a nation, are deserved an apology.
12:56And this film demands for just that.
12:58You've said it, sir. You've said it.
13:00Karan Sir, please do not celebrate this thing.
13:04But for this reason, because he showed bravery as a production studio,
13:07you have to reach all of this.
13:09One other person, who I think is standing with him,
13:12is standing with him, standing with him, standing with him,
13:14standing with him, and standing with him,
13:15and standing with him,
13:16Apoorva Mehta Saab, please give it up for him, ladies and gentlemen.
13:22Apoorva, sir, thank you so much.
13:24You know, I'll be thanking each and every member of this team
13:26for bringing this for the audiences.
13:29Kesari, Chapter 2.
13:31Leo Media Collective,
13:32Cape of Good Films,
13:33When you read a script on the table,
13:45there are very few scripts that come
13:47that really inspire you
13:49and really shake you up in a sense.
13:52And this was one of them.
13:53And like he rightly said,
13:54Kesari, Razi, and of course now Kesari too.
13:57Working with Leo Media has been a dream.
13:59They are friends and an extremely talented bunch of people.
14:02They have worked so relentlessly hard.
14:04It's been a four-year journey.
14:06And thanks to Akshay, sir, also,
14:08who's been so supportive.
14:10And I think the whole team,
14:11it's just been an incredible ride.
14:13And we are so happy to be able to make this film
14:16and let people see this chapter of history
14:18that a lot of us don't know about.
14:21Thank you.
14:21Thank you so much, sir.
14:22Now I'd like to invite on stage
14:23the director Saab of this film, ladies and gentlemen.
14:25Karan Singh Tyagi, give it up for him.
14:27The young man who's all set to present
14:29something, something, except for being here.
14:34I'd like to know a little bit about this massacre.
14:37When we talk about this massacre,
14:39you know,
14:40sometimes the mood gets very somber.
14:42When you revisit it,
14:44of course, courtroom drama is happening,
14:46but sometimes it's a massacre in the backdrop.
14:48So how was it revisiting the entire thing?
14:53So, it's a very somber moment of Indian history.
14:57So, when we were revisiting it,
14:59for us,
15:00one thing was very important,
15:01that we have to be sensitive to what happened.
15:04We have to be very authentic to what happened.
15:06And for me,
15:07this film is honoring the sacrifice of people
15:10who passed away at Jaliyawala Bagh.
15:12As Akshay sir and I keep discussing,
15:15they came to celebrate Baisakhi,
15:16but they left us martyrs.
15:18So,
15:19so that feeling
15:20is what we try to capture.
15:22So for us,
15:23for me,
15:23the film is honoring the sacrifice of people
15:26who died at Jaliyawala Bagh
15:27and honoring the sacrifice of one of India's forgotten heroes,
15:30Shankaran Nair.
15:31Thank you so much, sir,
15:32for sharing that.
15:33And now, ladies and gentlemen,
15:34I would like to invite on stage,
15:36Mr. Akshay Kumar,
15:37Zordar Thalia.
15:37Please,
15:38we have to,
15:39you know,
15:39give it up for him.
15:40The reason being,
15:41every single time we see him on the big screen,
15:44you know,
15:44he does something.
15:45Sir, Akshay sir,
15:46a small question.
15:48Of course,
15:49we know you give it your all
15:50every time,
15:51when you have some character
15:52but when it comes to the country,
15:55you know,
15:55it comes to the kind of a person,
15:57then what he comes to the extra,
15:57what he comes to the extra,
15:58please tell us about it.
16:00It's like,
16:01hello everyone,
16:03thank you all for coming here,
16:06morning and morning,
16:07and Ananya Pandey also came,
16:08for him to be a big fan.
16:09Thank you so much.
16:11I will tell you,
16:13he was shooting,
16:14and he came straight from shooting.
16:16so I can understand,
16:18and thank you very much,
16:19Ananya.
16:19That's our film,
16:21so I can't say anything.
16:23If it's someone else's,
16:24then what do you say?
16:25It has a very special meaning to me.
16:39I will tell you before I have told you,
16:41I will tell you here,
16:42then I want to tell you,
16:43that my father was from Amrit Sar,
16:46and my grandfather had,
16:51which was the whole event,
16:53so he saw it,
16:56and he was at the time,
17:00and I did not,
17:01but my father listened to a lot of stories,
17:03and my father listened to me.
17:05and I was listening to a story,
17:07and I was listening to a story about it,
17:09so it holds a very special thing with me.
17:15In my mind,
17:16in my mind,
17:17it was always a story.
17:18So when Karan Tiaaghi,
17:21I was listening to a story,
17:23at that time,
17:24I had decided,
17:26and I said,
17:27that I will do this film,
17:28and I am very grateful,
17:31that they have given me this film,
17:33and I will get the opportunity to do this film.
17:37That's it.
17:38Thank you.
17:39Thank you so much, sir.
17:40Ananya,
17:40I have a quick question for you.
17:42When you watch the trailer or the teaser,
17:45we are going to die.
17:46For you,
17:46emotionally,
17:47how was it?
17:48Firstly,
17:49I am very sorry,
17:49I was late,
17:50I was shooting.
17:52When I read the script,
17:54only visceral reactions were,
17:56everything was very emotional.
17:58There were a lot of questions,
17:59that happened in the truth.
18:01I am not sure if they have addressed it or not,
18:03but when we studied in history,
18:04there were so many details,
18:06you know.
18:07There was probably a death count,
18:08and we did not know,
18:09if it is right or wrong.
18:11So we have briefly studied in history,
18:14but when I read the script,
18:15and when I heard the script,
18:16I got to learn a lot.
18:17And I think the most important thing,
18:19I have learned,
18:20is that as the younger generation,
18:23we take freedom very lightly.
18:24We believe that,
18:26yes, our rights is,
18:27as we have grown up,
18:28we have been given freedom
18:28for everything.
18:30But when I read this script,
18:31and I was a part of this film,
18:32I felt that weight.
18:33You know,
18:33the sacrifices,
18:34our freedom,
18:36what people have done before,
18:38I really felt the weight of that.
18:39And I really understood that,
18:41and I don't think I am the same person,
18:42after being a part of this film.
18:44Thank you so much,
18:45for sharing that.
18:4618th April,
18:47is when this entire team,
18:48is going to share this,
18:49with all of you.
18:50Filal ke liye.
18:51Bit of trivia,
18:52I have to say,
18:53that there is one particular scene,
18:54I won't tell you which one,
18:55no spoilers here.
18:56There is one particular scene,
18:57that Ananya has shot four times.
18:59Yeah.
18:59Not because of her,
19:00because the scene kept evolving,
19:02and changing.
19:03And just to show,
19:05that the instinct of an artist,
19:06is so strong,
19:07that what is in the film,
19:08is the very first time,
19:10she shot it.
19:10Yeah, the original one.
19:11So the second,
19:12third,
19:12and fourth time,
19:13was a little bit of,
19:15her time,
19:15that may have been wasted.
19:17It's all right.
19:17And we apologize.
19:19Yours too,
19:19you are in the scene.
19:20Hello.
19:22Yeah,
19:23this is Rajiv here.
19:26Yeah.
19:27My question is for Karan.
19:28See,
19:29there is a very,
19:29fierce performance,
19:32so to speak,
19:33from our Madhavan,
19:34who is not here.
19:35Could you shed some light,
19:36on what kind of,
19:37character,
19:38role he is doing,
19:40in the physical?
19:43Yeah.
19:43Oh,
19:43to Karan?
19:44To Karan.
19:45To Karan.
19:45Karan,
19:46you take.
19:46So,
19:47Madhavan sir,
19:49plays the role,
19:50of,
19:50the crown's lawyer.
19:52So the crown,
19:53engaged the top lawyer,
19:54of the country,
19:55to take on,
19:55Shankaran Nair.
19:57And,
19:57and we meet him,
19:58at a time,
19:59when he is,
20:00you know,
20:01drinking away,
20:01his legacy.
20:02But,
20:03the crown energizes him.
20:05And then,
20:06he proves to be,
20:06the most capable,
20:08adversary,
20:09to Shankaran Nair.
20:09So,
20:10he is,
20:11a canny as a fox,
20:13and he is very fierce.
20:14He will,
20:15he will leave,
20:15no stone unturned,
20:17in defeating Shankaran Nair.
20:21For that,
20:22for that,
20:22I urge you to see the film.
20:23For that,
20:23I urge you to see the film.
20:25Because,
20:25his character deals,
20:26with that dilemma.
20:28Akshay sir,
20:29in your lift,
20:30Amit from Dhanik Bhaskar.
20:33Yeah.
20:33Akshay sir,
20:34what does cinema,

20:40with the English government,
20:42with the people,
20:43with the people,
20:44and the Chinese government?
20:45No,
20:46our job is to be,
20:47okay,
20:47in our hair,
20:48whether it is,
20:48how soft power or the hard power,
20:50whatever it is.
20:52Our job is,
20:53when I have many other films,
20:55I make a lot of different films,
20:57it is only an effort,
20:58it is like an effort.
21:00Today,
21:01take a toilet,
21:02even to the toilet,

22:39General Dyer fired upon innocent people, but what did the government, the crown, the empire
22:44do?
22:45They tried to protect him.
22:46They labelled the people as terrorists.
22:49So it was at a government level that everyone tried to protect him.
22:53So when we, when the conversation of apology comes up, errors are made, but the government
22:59can never support and label innocent people as terrorists.
23:04So that needs to be rectified.
23:06I think, Akshay sir, this is a director, or you know, you have to go out and leave the
23:14house.
23:15Is it still there?
23:16No, after shooting?
23:17After shooting?

23:30Today I have a chance to get my own movies.
23:31I have many other previous films about it.
23:34And I am sure this director is going to be with everyone when we will see the film.

25:24how do you
25:26grow up with AI which help
25:36यह कि एक लिए सकते हैं असी कुछि एक बना ली है असी
25:43I see I think I miss a my director is more intelligent than AI
25:48okay he he's written it very beautifully as a screenplay and
25:49I want to tell everyone this is his first movie I'm sure you know it
26:00he by profession is a lawyer Cambridge right
26:05Harvard.
26:06Harvard.

26:25he wanted to be a director,
26:27and his first film, he wanted to do,
26:29कि मैं जले आओ बाग दे फ़ली film बडाना चानना.
26:31और मैं यह कहना चाहूं का,
26:33Sir, Artificial Intelligence की बात करते हैं,
26:35तो जब आप टर्मिनोलोजी देख लो,
26:37तो क्या कहता है? Artificial Intelligence.
26:39लेकिन जो Natural Intelligence है,
26:41उससे कॉन लड़ सकता है?
26:43Artificial तो Artificial यह रहेगा.
26:45Hello. Hello. Yeah.
26:47Ananya, my hearty congratulations.
26:49So much of stress for your next script now.
26:51Sir. Yeah.
26:53Ananya, my hearty congratulations to you
26:55for having your role like this,
26:57because I have seen you right from your growing years,
26:59you know, from last 25 years.
27:0125 years he's been working?
27:05Yeah.
27:07Karan sir, this is a, I'm a, yeah, here.
27:09Oh, thank you sir.
27:11Coincidentally, 18th April
27:13happens to be Good Friday where
27:15a religious tragedy is also
27:17observed and it's a national
27:19holiday.
27:20So, I would just like you to comment
27:22on this interesting coincidence
27:24that, you know, the film is being
27:26released on Good Friday.
27:28Well, Good Friday, as you know,
27:32is a day that is lamented.
27:34But there was no synergy between
27:37trying to, you know, release
27:39on something that is lamented,
27:42you know, by anyone in this world.
27:44As producers, we are always looking for
27:47a good Friday to release.
27:50And we, and, and plus also the date
27:56was very close to commemorate
27:58the 106th, 106th year of Jalayanwala Baag.
28:04So, this was actually close to that date
28:06more than anything else.
28:07Karan and Karan.
28:09Karan, both Karan, hi.
28:12Recently made a web series called
28:14The Waking of a Nation,
28:16which was also based more or less
28:18on the same subject.
28:19So, have you seen it?
28:20And do you feel there are similarities?
28:22And do you wish that hadn't come out
28:24before you did?
28:25Ma'am, unfortunately, I haven't had
28:26the time to watch it.
28:27But I've heard great things about it.
28:29Right.
28:30And, and I feel the more stories,
28:31you know, which bring out, you know,
28:32the untold stories to light, more power to them.
28:35Wow.
28:36Ram is a dear friend.
28:38And again, I haven't been able to actually see the show.
28:41But again, I've heard wonderful things.
28:43But whatever it takes to wake a nation,
28:46whether it's a show and a film,
28:47or another show and a film,
28:49whatever it takes,
28:50the more the merrier, I think,
28:51where it comes to storytelling
28:52that are compelling storytellings of unsung heroes.
28:54Okay.
28:55Thank you so much, sir.
28:56Thank you, ma'am.
28:57Thank you so much.
28:58Thank you, ladies and gentlemen.
28:59Anybody else?
29:00Bus?
29:01Cut them.
29:02Thank you.
29:03Thank you, Akshay, sir.
