Tobi and BMitch discuss the upcoming NBA Draft Lottery. The guys believe Washington securing the top overall pick would be franchise altering.
Transcript
00:00And, you know, I think this is going to be a huge opportunity for them
00:03because if they can get Cooper Flagg,
00:06I think there's a couple of guys in this draft that you feel good about.
00:09But, you know, in the NBA, more so than other sports,
00:14you just have to have that star, B. Mitch.
00:16You just have to have that guy.
00:18And I know the Wizards tried to do it with Bradley Buell for a long time,
00:21and he just wasn't that guy.
00:23They need someone to just be that dude.
00:26And I think in reality, like the guys that they drafted this year,
00:29maybe none of those dudes become that guy.
00:32Maybe Sarr could.
00:33They need a James Wood, Kobe Bryant-type mindset.
00:39Somebody who comes in here and just does every damn thing he needs to do to get better.
00:45And hopefully he's your best player so everybody else can follow suit.
00:49Because what has happened here, we had John at one point who, you know,
00:54John was on and off, and Brad was on and off.
00:58But none of them wanted to play D.
01:00Gilbert didn't want to play D.
01:02You need somebody to come in here and at least give an effort on defense,
01:07work his ass off offensively,
01:09and maybe this team will finally begin to have somebody, a leader, who they can follow.
01:14And if you get that, then maybe things change up.
01:17Because you look at the commanders, Jayden Terry.
01:22Look at the Caps, Ovi.
01:24All right?
01:25Now you hear him talk about Wood.
01:28So you start looking at that in the future.
01:30Who's the guy for the Wiz?
01:32Well, and I hope you get that first pick, and I think Cooper Flagg can be that guy.
01:36Yeah.
01:36Right?
01:36So if you can get a really talented guy, because I think Alex Sarr is going to be a good basketball player.
01:41I don't know if he's a star or not, but I think he can be a really good basketball player.
01:45Bob Carrington, like we were at the game the other night, he dropped 32.
01:48He's a really good guard.
01:49Yes, he is.
01:49And I think Keyshawn George, out of that mix, is a really good role player as well.
01:52Well, there's all confidence in the world, though.
01:54He does.
01:55And you've got to have that to be good in sports.
01:57Well, and this is where I give the Wizards credit.
01:59I know a lot of people are frustrated.
02:00We've had callers, I think, call into this show, call into Grant and Danny, saying,
02:04man, I just need the Wizards to be competitive again.
02:06And I think the hard part about this is, I think...
02:09They will be, but they're in the process right now.
02:11Well, and here's where it's difficult, B-Mitch.
02:13I think they're doing it right now.
02:14The problem is, they've had years of being bad, but then they finally decided to get on board and do it correctly
02:18when they changed the front office.
02:19Well, they had the wrong people trying to do it.
02:21Other people thought that they were in a position that they were not.
02:24Then they hired people that would have a great understanding of how to build.
02:27And these people came in and said, look, man, you got to tear this ish down.
02:31Okay?
02:32You tear it down, and then we can build something up.
02:34But where you at now, you'll never ever...
02:36They were never on stable foundation.
02:39They never had that.
02:40You pusher it down.
02:50And now...
02:51...
