00:00Today is a very sad day for the Indian cinema as Manoj Kumar passes away.
00:05We have his son Kunal, hi Kunal, sorry for your loss.
00:09Thank you, thank you.
00:11It is a great loss not only to us as a family, I feel it's a great loss to the nation and
00:18to the entire film industry because he himself was a legacy and he was somebody who has passed
00:27on his message to many generations to come and of course his zeal for patriotism was
00:36always something which the people loved and flavoured it a lot.
00:44The beautiful part of his work is that even films he has made in the 60s like Upkaar or
00:51then Pura Barpashyam, these films and these stories and these relationships are still
00:56relevant today.
00:57So he of course saw or projected something which is still relative today so he had a
01:06good far sight towards it and of course the industry knows he had his own technique of
01:11film making and direction and his sense of songs, they will definitely be missed.
01:17As a kid what was your favourite films of Manoj sir, you know he has so many but.
01:24I have not seen his films as films because for us it was always a teaching.
01:29He would always insist that we should learn and he would explain why this is being done
01:35this way instead of we just sing something to like it.
01:40It was always you understand the meaning of why I am doing this, then it will stay in
01:45your mind.
01:46So every film has its own uniqueness and its own identity where many different different
01:52things sure had its own uniqueness of the story.
01:55It was a very small story but it was a beautifully woven script.
02:01Of course Kranti was a very huge scale film where he had really overstretched himself
02:08but he managed to do a great job.
02:11So he has taught us film making in many many aspects of be it editing, be it direction,
02:18be it writing, be it taking.
02:21So I can't really pinpoint a film.
02:24But as his son how are you planning to take his legacy forward also in terms of films
02:30you know how do you plan?
02:31Well we plan to get into film making very soon again, we have not been doing it actually
02:36we have been very busy because his health was not supporting him and it was taking all
02:41our time but unfortunately we could not do the best that we could I guess but God had
02:47his own wish and his own will.
02:50So hopefully soon we will get into production again.
02:53Any last wish of his that you would like to fulfill was the production coming back into
02:57production was one of them?
02:58His wish was always to keep making films.
03:01That was the only thing he knew.
03:03So obviously it would be to revive the legacy and revive the company and to revive film
03:09production again.
03:10And he is also getting you know state honours tomorrow what do you have to say about that?
03:14Well that is a privilege very few get and we are honoured about that and we are thankful
03:19to the Indian government, to the Maharashtra government and I honestly feel it is well-deserved.
03:28Thank you so much sir for talking to us.
03:29Thank you Anand.
