00:00Dear Rivals, Guang Guang here.
00:10Welcome to Season 2 of Marvel Rivals.
00:18After the intense Eternal Night Saga and the defeat of Dracula, Emma Frost has prepared
00:24a lavish celebration, inviting everyone to don their best attire and venture to the mutant
00:31heaven of the living island Krakoa for the annual Hellfire Gala.
00:36But as we all know, heroes never truly get a peaceful vacation.
00:41The uninvited Ultron has crashed the party, and the attending heroes must spring into
00:47action to protect Krakoa's greatest treasure from his grasp.
00:51Emma Frost is a formidable vanguard, a master of telepathy and a shining diamond on the
00:57battlefield.
00:59She can adeptly utilize her telepathic and diamond abilities as the situation demands,
01:06standing at the forefront to show her allies and obliterate her foes.
01:11And as for Ultron, stay tuned for the exciting updates in Season 2.5.
01:17In Season 2, we will introduce the first adjustments to team-up abilities, welcoming
01:23new team-ups while tweaking or removing some existing ones.
01:28We hope that these dynamic changes will enhance our heroes' and gameplay environment with
01:34even more thrilling experiences.
01:42Since the launch of Season 1, we've been deeply contemplating how Marvel Rivals can
01:48continuously deliver fun and engaging experiences for you all.
01:52During this time, several discussions on social media have certainly added some pressure on
01:58us to keep the game as exciting as it has been since December.
02:03To a certain extent, we agree.
02:07Upon reflection, we believe the core mission of Marvel Rivals should always be to fulfill
02:13everyone's fantasies about Marvel superheroes.
02:16But what does that fantasy entail?
02:19Is it controlling multiple heroes simultaneously or providing heroes with diverse experiences
02:26that transcend competitive boundaries?
02:29We've been exploring new modes internally, and when the prototypes are well-defined,
02:34we will unveil them as special event game modes.
02:38Of course, there remains the fundamental dream to integrate even more exciting Marvel heroes
02:44into Marvel Rivals.
02:46After intensive internal discussions and thorough evaluations, we've decided that starting
02:53from Season 3, the seasons will shift to a two-month format, with new heroes debuting
03:00each month.
03:01Additionally, rated systems will be adjusted accordingly, and we will provide detailed
03:07insights before the launch of Season 3.
03:11With our goal of keeping the audience's excitement alive, just like our opening month,
03:17the real adventure with Marvel Rivals is just beginning.
03:20After thorough testing and analysis of backend data, we've identified that the current mission
03:32system design lacks clarity in guiding players on how to earn colonel tokens through gameplay.
03:39This has resulted in some active players being unable to fully claim all rewards from the
03:45battle pass by the end of the season.
03:48To address this issue, we are implementing weekly missions alongside the existing daily
03:54missions and challenges.
03:57While the total number of colonel tokens available will remain unchanged, we've rebalanced the
04:04distribution of points across daily, weekly, and challenge missions.
04:10This adjustment aims to provide players with a smoother expectation of the colonel tokens
04:16they can earn through regular logins and gameplay, ensuring that active players can successfully
04:23acquire all battle pass rewards by the end of the season.
04:32In Season 2, we're excited to announce that we will begin adding new color options for
04:39some of the more popular costumes, providing even more opportunities for personalization.
04:46Additionally, we're introducing a new feature that allows players to gift costumes to their friends.
04:54This enhancement aims to foster better communication and interaction among friends within our game.
05:07For Season 2, we've made upgrades to our network protocols to enhance overall performance.
05:14Unfortunately, this means that replays from Season 0 and Season 1 will no longer be supported
05:21in the new client version, so be sure to record your favorite videos to your local hard disk
05:28before the season begins.
05:30Thanks for your support!
05:37As player excitement continues to rise, we're preparing for future tournament plans.
05:44We aim for high-level factions and players to showcase their skills on this stage, presenting
05:49thrilling matches for all Marvel Rivals fans.
05:53Next, let's welcome Zhiyong to share insights regarding the adjustments to team-up abilities
06:00and balance changes for Season 2.
06:02Hey Rivals, Zhiyong here with the latest on Season 2.0, packed with dynamic changes to
06:10team-up abilities, sweeping balance adjustments, and big updates to ranked.
06:21Over the past seasons, we've been thrilled by your overwhelmingly positive feedback on
06:26our team-up abilities.
06:28On one hand, these team-ups have perfectly captured our wildest imagination of iconic
06:34superhero pairings.
06:37On the other, they've unlocked a whole new dimension of tactical combat.
06:42For Season 2, we're launching several brand new team-up abilities while fire-tuning some
06:48existing ones, all designed to deliver fresh, pulse-pounding experiences.
06:59Emma Frost stands as the team-up anchor, allowing Psylocke and Magneto to call on the White
07:05Queen's psionic abilities to create illusory projections.
07:10At the heart of this pairing, Doctor Strange shares his arcane mastery with Scallywage,
07:16imbuing her chaos energy with a new mind-bending magical ability.
07:20Captain America's unwavering courage and unbreakable camaraderie inspire Winter Soldier
07:26to leap towards allies at critical moments and dish out a relentless counterattack.
07:35In our quest to keep the tactical landscape sharp and prevent any one hero from being
07:44in an overabundance of team-up abilities or total the number of team-ups from ballooning
07:50too quickly, we're streamlining some of our existing ones, including removing some
07:57team-up abilities altogether and removing or adding members.
08:01Here's what's changing.
08:03Metallic Chaos and Voltaic Union will be completely removed from the game.
08:09Psylocke will be removed from Dimensional Shortcut.
08:12Winter Soldier will no longer be part of AMO Overload.
08:16Nemo is being removed from Chilling Charisma.
08:20Doctor Strange is stepping back from Gamma Charge, while Nemo will be joining the party,
08:26complete with the ability to summon Gamma Supercharged Monster Spawns.
08:34As Season 1.5 comes to a close, our analysis backed by community feedback, epic battles
08:42from top-tier players, and hard data, reveals that our roster and line-up choices have remained
08:49dynamic and diverse.
08:52Consider the strength of Shoes combined with the mighty duo of Rude and The Thing in the
08:57triple Vanguard line-up.
08:59With Magneto's damage and up, this setup gains increased initiative on flanks and enhanced
09:06pressure capabilities.
09:08Moreover, a pair of control-driven Ultimates abilities, synergizing with Magneto's ult
09:16against standard double-strategies line-ups, can deliver staggering burst damage, overriding
09:22enemy healing and securing a pinpoint KO.
09:27And there's the dynamic pairing of Groot and Winter Soldier, where every move counts.
09:33Whether Winter Soldier's mechanical arm reels in force for Groot's rapid wall barricade
09:38to cut off enemy vision and healing, or Groot unleashing his Ultimate while the Winter Soldier
09:45utilizes the splash damage from his main weapon to rapidly trip away a health, before finishing
09:52off enemies with his own Ultimate ability.
09:56These synergies are as visually mesmerizing as effective.
10:00Not to mention our classic pairings, Hella and Loki, Adam Warlock and Star-Lord Mantis,
10:07and Hulk and Doctor Strange, each of which continues to prove their competitive might.
10:13This is exactly the kind of diverse and dynamic roster we love to see, and we're committed
10:20to preserving each hero's unique flavor and potential.
10:27Next, let's talk about some of the adjustments coming in Season 2.
10:34We are aware that some heroes have been struggling to find their place in the broader battlefield,
10:41such as Penny Parker, Skelly Witch, Mr. Fantastic, Black Widow, Rocky Raccoon and the lovable
10:49Geoff the Land Shark.
10:51To bring more balance and endless tactical possibilities, we will be fine-tuning their
10:57strengths via team-up abilities or general balance adjustments.
11:02Note that these rebalances demand time for proper calibration, so you will see updates
11:08rolling out in both Season 2.0 and Season 2.5.
11:12Now, let's talk about some of the adjustments coming in Season 2.0.
11:19For Vanguards, Penny Parker will receive a buff, while Captain America, now a new team-up
11:25anchor, steps up his competitive edge.
11:29Meanwhile, Doctor Strange will see a slight nerf to his offensive power, offset by improved
11:36survivability.
11:37For the Duelists, expect Skelly Witch and Winged Soldier to debut brand-new aggressive
11:43team-up abilities, accompanied by buffs to heroes like Mr. Fantastic and Moon Knight.
11:50Finally, Strategists, we are set to enhance Rocky Raccoon's team utility.
11:55At the same time, to prevent battles from dragging on courtesy of Loki's Regeneration
12:01Domain and Adam Warlock's Zone Bond, we will implement a modest nerf to keep the fight
12:08fast, furious and fundamentally fun.
12:11Keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming balance update announcement, where we will dive even
12:17deeper into these changes.
12:20The Season 1.5 hero pick rates and win rates are also set to be revealed shortly.
12:31When Season 2.0 launches, we are shaking up competitive play by resetting ranks.
12:37Based on your Season 1.5 standings, each player will drop 9 divisions.
12:43For instance, if you ended Season 1.5 at Diamond 1, you will start your Season 2.0 journey
12:51at Silver 1.
12:53Coinciding with the Season update and with the increase in maps, we will be rotating
12:58maps to keep the battlegrounds fresh.
13:01For Season 2.0, Hellfire Galakraca will enter the competitive pool, while Yaska Royal Palace
13:09and ToQ 2099 Shimshu Bua will be retired from ranked play.
13:15Tournaments will use the same map rotation as the competitive, but Quick Match and Custom
13:21Games will still feature every map, no rotation there.
13:24We've listened to your feedback about competitive play, and here's how we are leveling up the
13:35experience.
13:36First, we are raising the minimum level requirement for competitive, to give new players more
13:43time to truly master the basics before stepping up to the big leagues.
13:48Also, Pick and Ban will now come into play starting from Gold 3, rather than Diamond
13:55tier.
13:56When a team includes players from Eternity or one above all, only dual queuing will be
14:01allowed.
14:02Finally, you all know that the score you earn per competitive match is determined by both
14:08the outcome and your individual performance.
14:12With the launch of Season 2.0, we will be increasing the weight of individual performances.
14:19The better you perform, the more points you will earn in victory, and the fewer points
14:24you will lose in defeat.
14:31We know many of you are interested in the distribution of players across the Season
14:371.5 tiers.
14:39To satisfy your curiosity, please enjoy this detailed histogram that lays it all out.
14:52In closing, thank you all for your unwavering support and passion.
14:56We can't wait to party with you at Hellfire Gala.
15:00Ignite the battle!
