While no one in the local cattle industry wanted these tariffs, most exporters in New South Wales are still confident.

00:00While President Trump dubbed it Liberation Day, local farmers were just glad it didn't
00:06turn into Doomsday.
00:08Australia's ever resilient farming community has largely taken this news of the 10% tariffs
00:12on the chin today.
00:13Of course, up in Western Queensland, front of mind for them is the devastating flooding
00:18they're enduring.
00:19Down in South Australia, it's a different story.
00:21They're in the grips of a major drought.
00:24Agricultural market analysts say this tariff is wearable and that we will still largely
00:29be more affordable than America's own domestic beef product.
00:33That's due to drought in the US, leading to higher cattle prices and in turn, higher beef
00:37prices.
00:38It's up to the American consumer what they're going to do in terms of demand.
00:41No tariff is good for anyone.
00:44Someone's got to take the hit in the supply chain and hopefully it's not us.
00:49And hopefully the demand from other countries will pick up where America's slackens off.
00:53So plenty of hope there will still be strong demand for Australian beef in America and
00:57beyond.
