00:00Senator, do you have a hold on this A. Martin nomination?
00:04Yeah.
00:05Do you expect this to succeed?
00:07I mean, Republicans have probably the votes to confirm.
00:10Well, we're going to try.
00:12I hope the Republicans do their job.
00:14This man is unqualified.
00:16He's abused the powers of that office.
00:18He's made the strongest case you can make to be rejected for this position.
00:23This is a stop-the-steal lawyer who has embraced the worst anti-Semites
00:29and who has the most profound conflicts of interest,
00:33dismissing cases against people that he still represents.
00:37If he is not disqualified, then it shows the Republicans are willing to accept any Trump nominee,
00:44no matter how inappropriate for the job.
00:47What do you make of some of his early actions, Ed Martin interning Democrats specifically?
00:52It's a profound abuse of his office,
00:55going after members of Congress who are exercising their free speech.
01:00But the whole broader effort of the department to go after universities,
01:05to go after law firms, is just designed to intimidate,
01:09and they're trying to do the same thing with members of Congress.
01:12The case in New York against Mayor Adams that was just dismissed by the court this morning
01:20is probably the most egregious abuse, the most patently obvious, out in the open,
01:27corrupt action by the department that I've ever seen.
01:30I was part of the department 30 years ago, but I've never seen anything like it.
01:34The court dismissing this case against the mayor,
01:38not because there's any problem with the evidence in this serious corruption case against the mayor of New York,
01:44but because they wanted to leverage the mayor to use as a political pawn in their immigration policy.
01:52If that kind of thing is allowed to happen, that's the end of the rule of law in America.
01:59Senator, I know you just made Cory Booker's speech last night, the 25 hours.
02:03Is this what Democratic voters are asking for?
02:05Is this what you're hearing from voters back home, that they want you guys up here to do more?
02:10Yes, I mean, they want to see us fight.
02:12They want to see us use whatever tools we have.
02:15And we may not have the votes necessary to stop this reconciliation bill,
02:22but we're going to do everything we can to make the case to the American people
02:26and hope that we can, if not persuade people in the building,
02:30then persuade millions of Americans outside this building
02:33that they need to reject Donald Trump and everything he stands for.
02:37Appreciate the time.
02:38Thanks.
