00:00The reigning World Series champs, the Dodgers,
00:02who entered this year as a very short favorite
00:05to go back-to-back, with a roster that looks
00:08like an all-star team, both in the starting staff
00:10and, of course, in the batting order, one through nine,
00:13living up to that expectation to begin DRS.
00:16Now, a perfect eight-and-oh start.
00:20But yesterday was some late-game drama
00:22and a rally to accomplish just that.
00:25Six to five, the victory for LA over the Atlanta Braves.
00:29The Dodgers were booked as nearly a $2.50 Moneyline
00:32favorite at home, but they got off to a 5-0 deficit.
00:36The Atlanta Braves had scored five runs in the first two
00:39innings to lead 5-zip.
00:41The Dodgers then started their rally,
00:43which led us to the bottom of the ninth,
00:45a tied game at 5-all.
00:47Shohei Otani at the dish and Shohei Otani over the wall.
00:51A walk-off home run to deliver the Dodgers a perfect start
00:55continuing now at eight-and-oh.
00:59Yeah, it's pretty incredible, and it's understandable
01:02because the excitement around the Dodgers
01:04was they're building a team that looks like
01:05you're not gonna be able to beat them
01:06on a day-to-day basis.
01:08Now they sit in an oh, and it's eight-and-oh,
01:10and it's starting to prove true.
01:11But also yesterday, these are the scary times.
01:13Like, for you, the Braves, you are just looking
01:15for any break that you can get
01:17knowing you're a quality baseball team.
01:19Let's just get that one win
01:20and we can move forward with our season.
01:22You jump out to a 5-0 lead where the Dodgers
01:25gave you that one error upon error upon error.
01:27Like, all right, 5-0.
01:29Maybe we tack on one or two late in this game
01:31and we'll walk away with a victory.
01:32Well, I see this a lot as the Philadelphia Phillies
01:35are the ultimate hot-and-cold lineup.
01:37Five runs in the first two innings,
01:38you don't play a single run the rest of the way
01:40against one of the best lineups in baseball,
01:42and they start to chip away at that
01:44and then finally get to your bullpen late,
01:46which included Shohei Otani hitting that walk-off home run,
01:49which I needed Mookie Betts to get to the plate
01:50and get a base hit.
01:51So when I saw that pop up on my icon,
01:53I'm like, you gotta be kidding me.
01:54And then you go, no, that makes sense.
01:56It's Shohei Otani, the best player in baseball,
01:57hitting a walk-off home run.
01:59He gets an absolute flamethrower closer in his own building
02:02to dead center field.
02:03It's just what he does.
02:04But from a perspective of the Dodgers going like,
02:06doesn't matter what the score is,
02:08what the inning is, what pitcher you have,
02:09we're always gonna be the best environment
02:11and the best team here.
02:12And then you take a look at the Braves again,
02:13just looking to get a single victory
02:15with a 5-0 lead.
02:16You can't have a more demoralizing loss than that.
02:18Because coming into the game, right,
02:19we got Elder on the mound,
02:21you got Snell, one of the best pitchers in baseball.
02:23Well, if we can hang around, maybe it's a moral victory.
02:25There are no moral victories
02:26when you have a 5-0 lead
02:28and you blow the five runs and lose six to five.
02:30It's almost like a double loss
02:32in the loss column for the Braves last night.
