00:00In Spain, as part of Memory Barcelona Month, Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo have organized
00:08a Theater for Identity performance in the Catalan capital.
00:12Let's see the details with our correspondent Andres Flores.
00:16Con Canto de Cigarras, written and performed by Marcela de Grande, directed by German Rodriguez.
00:25A performance of Theater for Identity, organized by the Identity Network of Grandmothers of
00:30Plaza de Mayo, in Barcelona, takes place.
00:38Today we are here in Barcelona developing this activity of Theater for Identity with
00:43the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo to find more sisters and brothers, more granddaughters
00:47and grandsons of our beloved Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo.
00:56It has been a play that has had an impact.
00:58We understand that here in Europe people are living with us who have their identity falsified,
01:02and so we have to continue working to find all the sisters, brothers, granddaughters
01:07and grandsons of the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo that we are still missing.
01:15The play is about the last civil military dictatorship in Argentina, which carried
01:22out a systematic extermination plan that involved the disappearance of 30,000 people, torture,
01:28baby theft and the creation of clandestine detention centers.
01:35This play was born from the documentary, Here We Are Filmed by Paula Romero, where there
01:40are 24 life stories of grandsons and granddaughters restituted by Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo
01:45and the idea of the play was to show the three dimensions that are all the time articulated
01:49between the individual and family stories, and the great story, the story with a capital
01:54letter.
02:05I found the play very more than interesting, very useful, very honest, very hard, very
02:10warm, very well told, very necessary.
02:18The truth is that Marcela de Grande's proposal was super interesting, with her theatre of
02:22objects, how she made us get the stories of all the missing children.
02:38Outside of Argentina, the identity network of the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo carries
02:44out acts and activities in different parts of Europe to continue finding grandchildren
02:48kidnapped during the dictatorship.
