00:00We're very much looking forward to everyone being able to experience Nintendo Switch 2.
00:05Welcome to Mojo Plays, and since Nintendo has finally given us more information on the Switch 2
00:11and what games we can expect for it,
00:13we're going over the biggest reveals from the latest Direct, showcasing the upcoming console.
00:19I give you... my life.
00:23But before we dive into it, we publish new content all week long.
00:27So be sure to subscribe and ring the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:32Number 10. Nintendo Switch 2 Editions.
00:37Some games that were released on Switch will receive upgraded versions
00:40that offer things like improved visuals, unique ways to play on Switch 2, and more.
00:45We knew that the new console would be backwards compatible,
00:48but Nintendo also has a few Switch 2 editions planned for older games.
00:54This part of the Direct began with details on Super Mario Party Jamboree
00:58and how it would include new gameplay and modes that take advantage of the console's new features,
01:04like the mouse controls and dedicated camera.
01:07More on those later.
01:09But it isn't the only one getting an upgrade.
01:11Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are getting visual enhancements,
01:15as well as their own app called Zelda Notes,
01:18which guides players towards secrets they haven't found
01:22and lets them share ultra hand creations with friends.
01:35Kirby and the Forgotten Land is also getting improved visuals
01:39on top of what's basically DLC in Star Crossed World.
01:43As we were all probably expecting, Metroid Prime 4 Beyond and Pokemon Legends ZA
01:49are launching on both the Switch and its successor,
01:53though will definitely be a lot nicer to look at on Switch 2,
01:56and the former will come with an option for mouse controls.
02:00If you own the original versions on Switch,
02:02you can purchase an upgrade pack rather than pay full price,
02:06though Nintendo did not say how much those would cost.
02:10You can play the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition by purchasing an upgrade pack.
02:14We hope you're looking forward to these Nintendo Switch 2 Edition game.
02:22And now, some news about Nintendo Switch Online.
02:26Another thing we've known for a while is that Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions
02:30will transfer over to the Switch 2,
02:33but The Direct gave us a nice update for what's coming to its expansion pack
02:37featuring retro games.
02:39GameCube.
02:40Exclusive to the Switch 2,
02:41the fan-favorite console will now be represented with classic games.
02:59Nintendo only showed three titles that will be available at launch,
03:03The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker,
03:05Soul Calibur 2,
03:06and F-Zero GX.
03:08However, more titles are planned,
03:10such as Super Mario Sunshine,
03:12Pokemon Colosseum,
03:13and Chibi-Robo!,
03:15which I am personally looking forward to trying out for the first time.
03:19Also, similar to retro-style controllers Switch Online members
03:23have been able to purchase in the past,
03:25Nintendo is releasing a GameCube controller updated with Switch 2 features.
03:35Number 8.
03:36Console Specs and Release Information
03:39At 7.9 inches, Switch 2 has a bigger built-in screen.
03:43Here's how that compares to Nintendo Switch.
03:46The release date for the Switch 2 is right around the corner,
03:49June 5th, 2025,
03:51with pre-orders going live on April 9th.
03:54Weirdly not in The Direct,
03:56though released afterwards,
03:58was its price point.
03:59Players can pick up a standard version for $449.99 U.S. dollars
04:04or one for $499.99 U.S. dollars
04:07with a digital version of the new Mario Kart.
04:10Unfortunately, what Nintendo also neglected to mention until later
04:14were price points for new games.
04:17Really? They can do that?
04:18It seems like it'll be a case-by-case basis,
04:21with the digital version of Mario Kart World being $80
04:24and Donkey Kong Bonanza listed for $70,
04:28and apparently increasing for physical versions.
04:31Ouch.
04:35But what does the new console bring?
04:39Well, there's the larger 1080p LCD screen,
04:43which supports up to 120 FPS and HDR for smoother visuals.
04:49The new Joy-Cons, which connect magnetically,
04:51feature bigger buttons and joysticks,
04:54as well as mouse controls that look to provide some interesting gameplay hooks.
04:58Other features include a sturdier stand,
05:01two USB-C ports,
05:03eight times the storage space,
05:05that one's really nice,
05:06and a new dock that supports up to 4K resolution
05:09and has a built-in fan to keep your system cool.
05:13Naturally, there's also improved audio and a built-in mic for voice chat.
05:17It also uses noise-canceling technology to filter sounds,
05:21so your voice will come through clearly.
05:23Speaking of which...
05:26Number 7.
05:27Game Chat
05:28Let's take a look at some new experiences it offers.
05:33One of the biggest new features for the Switch 2,
05:38though one that Nintendo is obviously late to the party on,
05:42is voice chat,
05:43or, as they call it,
05:45Game Chat.
05:46The new Joy-Cons, as well as the new GameCube and Pro controllers,
05:50come with a C button that connects you with friends.
05:54You can chat while playing the same game,
05:56or screen share while playing entirely different ones.
05:59I think I know where you are.
06:00I think I know where you are.
06:01Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
06:02Okay, I think we have...
06:03Hey guys, we're together.
06:04Right.
06:05Welcome.
06:05Ooh, okay.
06:06You'll use the built-in mic on the system,
06:08which, impressively, filters out surrounding noise
06:12so that your voice always comes in clear.
06:14Nintendo will also be releasing its own camera
06:17so you can video chat while playing.
06:19And, as we said earlier,
06:21this will also be used in specific gameplay scenarios,
06:24like with Super Mario Party Jamboree.
06:27Game Chat will be available on launch day,
06:29and while a Switch Online subscription will be required,
06:33a free open access period will last until March 26th, 2026.
06:39Game Chat!
06:41Number six.
06:43A ton of third-party support.
06:46You can see them, can't you?
06:50The rays of grace that guide you through your burden.
06:57The Direct showcased a ton of third-party support,
07:00games coming to Switch 2 that have already been announced.
07:03Some are already available on other platforms,
07:06like Final Fantasy VII Remake, Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring,
07:11Split Fiction, and Street Fighter VI.
07:14The last one including exclusive modes and Amiibo.
07:24There were a few others which haven't been released yet though,
07:28such as Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and 4,
07:31Project 007, and Borderlands 4.
07:34It's nice to think the Switch 2 may not get left behind in that regard.
07:39There were even some exciting upcoming indies teased,
07:42like Enter the Gungeon 2, New Deltarune Chapters, and Hades 2.
07:47And how about them casually throwing in Hollow Knight Silksong with a 2025 release?
07:53Yeah, we won't hold our breath on that one.
08:02Number five.
08:03Kirby Air Riders.
08:13Gone to my head never in a million years,
08:15would I have guessed a sequel to Kirby Air Ride would be announced for Switch 2.
08:20It's been over 20 years since the original launched on GameCube,
08:24and it holds a special place in the hearts of many Kirby fans.
08:28However, it wasn't exactly a smash hit.
08:32Nintendo choosing to revisit it now is strange,
08:35but you know what they say about not looking a gift horse in the mouth.
08:40Kirby Air Ride, which originally released on the Nintendo GameCube system over 20 years ago,
08:45is getting a brand new game.
08:47We didn't get much of a look at the new game,
08:49which is scheduled for a general 2025 release, not even gameplay.
08:54But with news that Masahiro Sakurai, the director of several Kirby titles,
08:58including the original Racer, as well as the Super Smash Bros. series,
09:03we're definitely eager to see more.
09:094. Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment
09:30The Hyrule Warriors series has been a decently successful spinoff for The Legend of Zelda,
09:35so it's not entirely surprising to learn that a new one is on the way.
09:40Similar to how Age of Calamity focused on the history of Breath of the Wild,
09:44the upcoming Age of Imprisonment will focus on the history of Hyrule shown in Tears of the Kingdom.
09:58Though likely non-canonical like its predecessor,
10:01we'll play through Zelda's time in ancient Hyrule
10:04as she witnesses Ganondorf's rise to power as the Demon King.
10:08The trailer showed the princess, Rauru, and Minoru as playable characters,
10:13though the ancient sages seem like pretty safe bets for filling out the roster.
10:18The first was a pretty fun action game and what-if story,
10:22so we expect the sequel will be of similar quality when it releases this coming winter.
10:323. The Duskbloods
10:52In addition to an Elden Ring port, the Switch 2 is getting an exclusive title from FromSoftware
10:58called The Duskbloods in 2026. The trailer kept things pretty vague, though the FromSoftware
11:05vibes were immediately obvious before the studio's name even came on screen.
11:15Yes, everything looked expectedly spooky, grim, and foreboding, but it also seemed to showcase
11:22several playable characters. After the reveal, details on the game were released.
11:26It will be a multiplayer PvPvE title that allows up to eight players.
11:32While FromSoftware is mostly known for single-player experiences,
11:36the studio is branching out to multiplayer with this and the upcoming Elden Ring Night Reign.
11:42Nintendo also shared that we can learn more with a Creator's Voice article
11:46featuring director Hidetaka Miyazaki on its website coming April 4th.
11:572. Mario Kart World
12:15Nintendo opened up the Direct with something we all knew was coming,
12:19but had few actual details on. And the new Mario Kart certainly didn't disappoint.
12:25On top of looking genuinely incredible, new mechanics we can expect include rail grinding
12:31and wall riding, up to 24 racers at once, and items that change your outfit,
12:37though what that means for gameplay is yet to be seen.
12:403. Grand Prix Mode
12:50The tracks in World are larger and more expansive than ever before,
12:54allowing players to go off-road, literally racing all over the globe.
13:00We'll get our expected Grand Prix mode, but there are some new ways to play.
13:05There's Knockout Mode. Here, you have to be above a certain placement across multiple checkpoints,
13:11or else you're kicked out of the race. Then there's Free Roam, which simply lets you wander
13:17these massive maps, even with friends, for some more casual exploration.
13:22A Mario Kart World Direct releases on April 17th with more details,
13:27and the game launches alongside the Switch too.
13:31Mario Kart World! The game launches on the same day as Nintendo Switch 2.
13:371. Donkey Kong Bonanza
13:53Mario Kart World may be the system seller, but I
13:57cannot deny how giddy I got when a Donkey Kong comeback closed out the Direct. It's been over
14:04a decade since DK's last mainline game, Tropical Freeze,
14:09so I and every other fan have had to wait quite a long time.
14:162. Donkey Kong 64
14:26Bonanza will also only be his second 3D adventure after Donkey Kong 64,
14:32and it looks like an absolute blast, focusing on DK's penchant for punching and showcasing him
14:38smashing through various environments. It seems to be a similar approach as Super Mario Odyssey
14:44and Kirby and the Forgotten Land, a 3D platformer with lush worlds and grandiose adventure.
15:00Although there's a troubling lack of Diddy and the other Kongs in the trailer,
15:04it looks incredibly promising, and hopefully will deliver
15:08close after the Switch 2's launch on July 17th, 2025.
15:20What announcement from the Switch 2 Direct got you most excited? Head to the comments
