00:00Okay then, Charlie, you're going to be heading out to Kenya. What are some of the community
00:04projects you're going to be getting involved in then?
00:05We're going to be doing some environmental conservation, helping local farmers, going
00:09on some hiking treks, building homes as well for the local people.
00:17Building a school as well, I understand, is that right?
00:18Yeah, we're going to be helping build a local school and we're going to try and provide
00:21some equipment for the school.
00:23How much are you looking forward to going out there?
00:24I'm really looking forward to it. I think it's really going to open all of our eyes
00:28and show us how lucky we really are to have what we've got.
00:33What is the activity you're most looking forward to taking part in?
00:34I'd say some of the conservation work, as well as understanding what the local tribes
00:35do.
00:36And if people can help, what should they do then, do you think?
00:37I think if you're in the position to donate, then it would be really appreciated to try
00:38and help all the people who are less fortunate in Kenya.
00:39Okay, and so what are some of the activities and initiatives that you're going to be taking
00:40part in?
00:41We're going to be doing some environmental conservation, helping local farmers, going
00:42on some hiking treks, building homes as well for the local people.
00:43How much are you looking forward to going out there?
00:44I'm really looking forward to it. I think it's really going to open all of our eyes
00:45and show us how lucky we really are to have what we've got.
00:46And if you're in the position to donate, then it would be really appreciated to try
00:50and help all the people who are less fortunate in Kenya.
00:55Okay, and so what are some of the activities and initiatives that kids are going to get
00:59involved with out in Kenya?
01:00So they'll be involved with community projects, such as building things like schools, community
01:06centres, toilet blocks, homes for families, and they'll do everything from making the
01:10whole brick block to actually putting it in, digging the foundation, so they might see
01:14a project through from start to finish, or they might just contribute towards a project
01:18that's already started before they joined.
01:21And they'll get a chance to meet a lot of the local tribes and villages, so the Maasai
01:24tribe, the local mamas who live out there, so they are a group of empowering women who
01:29go out and make their own money from making poo paper from elephant poo, and then they
01:35sell that on to companies, they make bracelets, they make shoes out of old tyres, so they've
01:41created their own kind of brand and their own business so that they have their own income
01:45and they're not relying on men.
01:47They'll also be doing a wildlife safari, so that'll be a little treat for them going out
01:50and providing four weeks of their time, they'll get to go and see the real life animals, we'll
01:55do a trek up mountains, and there's a whole host of other things that we'll be getting
01:58involved with behind the scenes.
02:00As well as supporting the people in Kenya, just how valuable an experience will this
02:03be for the kids?
02:04It's a once in a lifetime opportunity for kids, we've only selected a small group of
02:10children to take out, so therefore it's only them who will get that experience.
02:16They're going to be so independent when they're out there, there's going to be no parents,
02:18no friends, no technology, no communication with home, they're going to be responsible
02:23for getting themselves up, dressed, fed, washed, washing the clothes, cleaning, packing the
02:29things and moving from camp to camp to camp, it's just going to develop so many wider skills
02:35and help them develop personally.
