Work has begun to get the popular coastal path between Coppet Hall and Wiseman’s Bridge back open before the summer holidays.
Preparatory vegetation clearing has already taken place, whilst a specialist ‘Spider Excavator’ arrived onsite on March 31 - to ‘climb up’ from the beach onto the path to clear the fallen rock.
The coastal path connecting connecting neighbouring seaside villages Saundersfoot and Wisemans Bridge was closed once again in January after a number of landslips occurred.
The coastal path, known as the Tramway, was previously closed after it experienced ‘substantial rock falls’ in late 2023 and early 2024.
It was recently revealed that works on the beach-side coastal path, has cost Pembrokeshire County Council nearly £700,000 to date.
At the recent meeting of Saundersfoot Community Council, chair Alec Cormack reported on news that Pembrokeshire County Council now had a plan to clear the landslip on the coastal path.
No opening date can yet be provided, but Cllr Cormack stressed that he was hopeful that the route would reopen before the expiry of the recent four month closure order that was put in place by the Local Authority.
