00:00The winds are ripping out of the south right now. In fact, we just had a slight shift more out of
00:04the southeast, but as you know, you guys are just talking about it, you're looking at radar.
00:07We have a line of severe storms just off to our west making their way here towards Joplin. I
00:12expect they'll be here in the next 20 to 30 minutes coming through the city here.
00:16Seeing occasional flashes of lightning right now. As you mentioned, severe warned and occasionally
00:21some embedded tornado circulations in this line of storms. Just flash of lightning right now,
00:25just saw behind me. This line of storms is about to blast through Joplin here, but this is a long
00:31day ahead. We have a long day ahead here of severe weather. We are in an environment that is ripe for
00:36these supercells. That strong wind, that shear is very moist here. We have potential for long track,
00:43strong tornadoes today with any supercells that fire out ahead of this cold front, this line of
00:48storms ahead of the cold front. Even supercells that might fire out ahead of the line. That's
00:53kind of what I'm watching today is for those supercells that might initiate just ahead of this
00:57line of storms today as they move off to the east through southern Missouri, northern Arkansas,
01:03southwestern Illinois, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee. So later today I'll probably be
01:09targeting more around the Memphis area as these storms approach towards sunset, the Memphis area.
01:14So a dangerous day ahead. It is a day to make sure you have your tornado, your storm shelter
01:18precautions ready to go, your plan ready to enact. If you find yourself in a tornado warning
01:23make sure you make that plan happen because there's going to be dangerous storms today
01:27ripping across the Midwest and the Mid-South.
