00:00Now, Trent Alexander-Arnold's future at Liverpool is certainly up in the air, with
00:07speculation swirling about a potential move to Real Madrid. Despite Liverpool's likely
00:12push for the Premier League title under Arnie Schlott, the 25-year-old's uncertain future
00:17has fans wondering what's next for one of their standout players. I spoke to Will Rooney
00:22of Liverpool World for the latest on Trent's situation, explaining that while Alexander-Arnold's
00:28form remains excellent, the allure of a move to one of Europe's biggest clubs is strong.
00:34Real Madrid's interest in the defender adds further uncertainty, and Liverpool will need
00:39to act quickly to secure his long-term future at Anfield, providing that is still an option.
00:45As Liverpool chase a potential title, Alexander-Arnold's future could become a key storyline in the
00:51coming months, with both his performances and the club's ability to hold on to him
00:56under the spotlight.
01:26I don't think it's quite done, as in it sounds on the dotted line, but I think the conclusion
01:53is inevitable. I think we've known for a few months now it's been heading that way,
01:58hasn't it? I mean, since Real Madrid lodged that inquiry before January opened, Real Madrid
02:03wouldn't have done that unless they had an inkling that Trent Alexander-Arnold wanted
02:07to join the club and had suggested he'd be open to it. They obviously tried the hand
02:13there. There's definitely mixed feelings. Some would be saying, how has it got to this
02:20situation? How has Liverpool not offered him a contract? But what you've got to remember
02:25is that Jürgen Klopp was leaving, Liverpool had to prioritise getting a new manager, a
02:31new head coach. And then the player as well might have wanted to assess his options. He
02:36wanted to assess, did he want to stay for the long term? Did he want to work under Arnold
02:41Slotts? How would it go? Will Liverpool decline, etc.? Real Madrid might have put the idea
02:46in his head. It's difficult to turn down Real Madrid. Not many players get that opportunity
02:54to go and play for the biggest club in the world, without a doubt in my eyes. But it's
03:02the fact that he's a local lad leaving on a free transfer that a lot of fans can't quite
03:08palate because he's come through the ranks. He's made it clear in the past that he wants
03:18to be a future captain of Liverpool. He needs to have a fresh challenge. Liverpool, people
03:25are saying you should get a fee for him, but let's forget it. Liverpool have had more than
03:32the money's worth out of him as well. He's come through the academy. Liverpool invest
03:35money in the coaching set-up, etc. But it's not like he's been a dud. He's taken money
03:44left, right and centre of Liverpool. He's contributed more than many would have expected
03:50on the pitch when he made the breakthrough. He was 17, 18. Shows a lot of talent, but
03:56he's continued his development and won seven major trophies, including the Premier League
04:02probably going to leave with a Premier League medal as well. So there's definitely a mixed
04:07reaction. It will be interesting at games when he makes an injury return to see how
04:12supporters reacted to him if he gets on the pitch. And obviously, at the end of the season,
04:19if he is going to leave, what sort of reception he might get. So yeah, as I say, there's definitely
04:25mixed reaction. I don't think anyone's surprised that it is going to happen,
04:30but there's definitely two sides. Some people saying, wait, good luck. It's not for another
04:37fan to say, you shouldn't be leaving your boyhood club on a free transfer for what they've done for him.
