00:00In the hope that passengers will have a safe trip this Holy Week,

00:05the marina inspected several beaches in Batangas.

00:09This is Rod Lagusan of PTV for Balitang Pambansa.

00:14The Philippine Coast Guard District Salerno-Tagalog is ready

00:17for the arrival of passengers this Holy Week

00:19in Batangas Port and other beaches in the area.

00:22They are accompanied by the Maritime Industry Authority or MARINA

00:25to ensure that the ship's passengers

00:28will have a safe trip.

00:31With the MARINA directives that we follow in the conduct,

00:37usually they do the relaxation when it comes to some certain policies

00:42so that the passengers can really ride safely.

00:47And security, because the more that the people are here,

00:54the more ports will be full.

00:58That's why they requested additional personnel

01:00to guard the coast with force multipliers

01:03not only from the DOTR but also from the PNP and LGU.

01:07Yesterday, the MARINA inspected Batangas Port

01:10as part of their Intensified Compliance Monitoring,

01:13the new program of the MARINA

01:15to ensure that it follows the regulations of the ship's passengers.

01:18The MARINA admitted that their inspection of several ships

01:21is not consistent with their regular inspection

01:23due to the lack of manpower of the agency.

01:26There are 75 MARINAs that inspected the main beaches in the Philippines

01:30such as Batangas, Lucena, and Cebu

01:32where passengers are expected to arrive.

01:35The MARINA's inspection started yesterday, April 1,

01:38and will last until April 12.

01:40This is just one way of the MARINA

01:43to ensure that before the arrival of our passengers,

01:49we check their continuous compliance to safety.

01:54Because now, they have valid safety certificates.

01:58But we know that during daily travel,

02:02there are usual wear and tear.

02:04That's why we want to confirm.

02:06Malaluan added that this is done during the peak period

02:09such as the Holy Week.

02:11Along with their inspection,

02:13there will be life-saving appliances

02:15such as life vests and life wraps.

02:17The fire-fighting equipment of the ships

02:19along with the important inspection
