Josh Weil, the Democratic candidate in a Florida Special Election, sounds an optimistic tone.

00:00From the largest seat flip in the history of every kid, every family, every day.
00:07And that is exactly what we should expect from our elected representatives.
00:12Yes.
00:18This race is about the people of District 6.
00:20This race is about a community that has seen the essential government services
00:26that they rely on put in jeopardy by, and has an opportunity to send someone in
00:33to fight for Social Security, to fight for Medicaid and Medicare,
00:38to fight for our Veterans Administration,
00:41to fight to protect our Department of Education.
00:45He can't do this without us.
00:48And we have to make sure that the entire world knows
00:52that it is important for us to flip this seat.
01:01That's all I really want to say.
01:04And now I am introducing our chair for Marion County, Diana Williams.
01:13Thank you, Francine.
01:14Hi, Diana.
01:15Hi there, how are you doing?
01:17I'm so glad you all are here tonight.
01:19We've been working so hard.
01:22How are you feeling going into election night?
01:24We feel fantastic.
01:25The numbers look great.
01:26Our polling numbers look great.
01:28We feel like we have a comfortable lead in the votes right now
01:31and that we have a lot of energized Dems and independent voters
01:34that are going to be showing up on election day.
01:36We feel really good about tomorrow night.
01:38Do you feel like this is a referendum on Randy Fine or a referendum on the President?
01:44I mean, none of this is isolated.
01:46This is April of 2025.
01:49This is a district that is more than 25% age 65 and above
01:54and essential services they rely on have been put in jeopardy by this administration.
01:58And the person running on the Republican side has shown no interest
02:04in attempting to reach out, communicate with the district, talk to people,
02:08or say that he'll serve them.
02:10He is adamant over and over again that he is going to serve only one person
02:13if he is elected and that person doesn't live in District 6.
