00:00Elon Musk handed out $1 million checks to two voters at a town hall in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
00:05The event was in support of conservative judge Brad Schremel, who is running for the state's
00:09Supreme Court.
00:10But Wisconsin state law prohibits offering anything of value to a voter, so how is this
00:15legal?
00:16Musk had originally offered Wisconsin voters $100 each to sign a petition opposing activist
00:21judges, and they'd be entered to win a $1 million lottery prize.
00:26In a now-deleted post on X, Musk had promised to hand out checks to attendees in appreciation
00:31for them taking the time to vote.
00:33Later, he clarified in a new post on X that the winners of the checks would be considered
00:37spokesmen of the petition, so the checks themselves would be a form of payment.
00:42This might ring a bell, because Musk was in hot legal water during Trump's campaign
00:46for giving out daily $1 million giveaways to people who signed petitions in support
00:50of the First and Second Amendment.
00:51Back then, a judge denied an attempt to halt the giveaway, and it looks like Musk might
00:56be in the clear yet again.
00:57Democratic Attorney General Josh Call tried to block the $1 million lottery, but the state's
01:02Supreme Court declined on Sunday to hear his case.
01:05Musk also answered questions from audience members during the town hall, and offered
01:09some insight into the agencies Doge might target, like the Federal Reserve, Social Security
01:13Agency, Department of Education, and the Postal Service.
01:17He also said his ideal version of the federal government would mimic George Washington's
01:21in 1776, including only the President, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Secretary of
01:26Border Defense, and the Secretary of the Treasury.
01:29Musk also acknowledged that his net worth has slumped, and he admitted that his time
01:33at Doge could be to blame.
01:34The Tesla CEO has lost about $103 billion since the start of 2025, but he's still $116
01:41billion ahead of Jeff Bezos, who's listed as the world's second-richest man.
