00:00Jared Brantway's future at Everton is under intense scrutiny as transfer rumours are heating
00:08up ahead of the summer window. The underfender is impressed with his performances last season
00:14and now this, attracting attention from top clubs both in the Premier League and abroad.
00:22With Everton facing a crucial period, the potential sale of Brantway could raise significant
00:27funds, but the club will have a tough decision to make as they weigh up whether to cash in
00:33or keep hold of key emerging talent. To get more insight on Brantway's situation and what
00:38it means for Everton, I spoke to Will Rooney of Liverpool World.
00:42And let's just look at Jared Brantway in terms of his Everton career. I mean, obviously last
00:49season he was incredible and that sort of huge price tag was put on him. He obviously
00:55missed out on the last England squad in terms of Thomas Tuchel's first camp. Where does
01:00it sort of leave him in terms of his future career? Because, you know, you looked at him
01:04last season and you thought maybe, you know, he could be the real future of the England
01:08backline and Everton have a real gem on their hands. And, you know, what sort of not worked
01:13as well this season for him? Because it's not been as standout as a campaign, but he
01:18has still played a fair amount of minutes.
01:23I don't think it was straightforward from the start this season because he underwent
01:27that operation in the summer. It took longer than expected to come back. And then when
01:33he did come back, he was back on the treatment table again. And then it took a while for
01:39him to get his rhythm back. He has got that back recently, but I still think it took longer
01:50than expected for him to really hit his peak again. He is playing in a side that has conceded
01:56very few goals and you can understand why he was disappointed not to have been in that
02:00England squad, especially when you see someone like Gerald Quanter, who has not played much
02:05at all for Liverpool this season in the Premier League. Gerard Bramfwaite has played when
02:10he has been fit, probably almost every minute for Everton. Left footer, so it gives that
02:16additional balance to the squad. I know reports, as you mentioned, saying that he may be asked
02:25to consider his future at Everton if he wants to get into the England squad. I think that's
02:31a little bit of hyperbole, to be honest with you, because Jordan Pickford has never lost
02:38his place as a single and as number one while Everton have been battling relegation for
02:44how many seasons. There have been plenty of Everton players in the England squad in recent
02:53years, Phil Jagielka, Liam Baines, Donna Calvert-Lew, there was obviously anyone scoring all those
02:59goals before the Euros. Another thing is maybe the captains, England's under-21s in the second
03:06game against Portugal and with the Euros in the summer, the under-21s, maybe the plan
03:14is to have kept them there and got them around the group again, because England want to go
03:21and win that tournament and get them integrated again with the players to go and win that
03:28tournament, because if Gerard Bramfwaite is going to be a big player for England in the
03:32future, then tournament experience, no matter what level you're at, is absolutely vital.
03:40If he can go and win another under-21, just like he did a couple of years ago with England,
03:44then that will be big for England's future. I will be disappointed because there are centre-halves,
03:51as I say, the one for me was Gerard Kwan, so it was a surprise that he was head of Bramfwaite,
04:00but Evan are clearly on a much better trajectory under David Moyes and I don't think Gerard
04:06Bramfwaite of England will have to leave, so I can't play for England, that's a bit ridiculous
04:11for me, but if an offer came in the summer, would Evan have to consider it? Well, I think
04:18every player has his price, David Moyes has come out and said that clubs will need a big
04:22bag of money and it wouldn't be a surprise if Evan were looking to maybe tie down Bramfwaite
04:28in the next few months to a new deal, if he didn't sign that one all that long ago, but
04:33you want to keep your assets and with Evan over the PSR issues for the most part, then
04:39they'll want to build a team around a player like Gerard Bramfwaite.
