Myanmar authorities reported that the death toll after the 7.7 magnitude earthquake exceeded 1,000 people. The earthquake was perceived around Southeast Asia, reaching Thailand were 100 workers were trapped after office building collapse.

00:00Myanmar authorities reported that the death toll after the 7.7 magnitude
00:05earthquake exceeded 1,000 people. Authorities confirmed that the number of
00:10people injured is estimated to be at least 2,376 in the Mandalay region while
00:17in the towns of Sagaing and Kaikus at least 300 people have been reported
00:23missing under the rubble. The authorities also declared a state of emergency in
00:27the regions of Sagaing, Magwe, Shan, among others for being the most affected by the
00:32disaster. Meanwhile search and rescue efforts continue for those missing due
00:37to the collapse of buildings and cracks in the ground.
00:48The death toll will increase. In some places buildings collapsed and rescue
00:54operations continue. I also went and checked. I would like to request our
01:02people to support and help us as we need to provide rescue operations widely.
01:14I have declared a state of emergency in all affected regions and opened all
01:18assistance from other countries. Recently there have been emergency aid
01:28from the AHA Center, ASEAN Coordination Center for Humanitarian Assistance on
01:33Disaster Management and I allowed India to send aid to us. I would like to invite
01:43every organization, every people to provide aid. Thank you.
01:53Meanwhile the earthquake also hit Thailand where residential buildings
01:58and offices were evacuated. Public broadcaster Thai PBS reported the
02:03collapse of a 30-story building under construction in the capital which
02:07housed around 50 people, seven of whom managed to escape while the rest were
02:12trapped. According to the latest information at least 10 persons have
02:16been found dead at the scene.
