00:00Are there any injury updates or availability or non-availability?
00:07No, everyone is available except for Bumrah.
00:12You were not there last season of course. You had played the first game here and Hardik faced a lot of hostility here.
00:25Since then Hardik has transformed and covered himself with a lot of glory. Do you think things will be different for him this time?
00:32I think it's just a game of cricket. Fans are fans and emotions are part of it. I'm sure everyone has gone beyond that.
00:41It's amazing to see how the loyalty and everything works even in IPL which is fascinating.
00:48I've enjoyed that watching from outside but I think like you rightly said, 12 months on he's achieved a lot more.
00:56I'm sure that everyone will see beyond that what happened in last year.
01:02We can enjoy a good game of cricket and everyone else can enjoy a good game of cricket.
01:07Do you have any updates on Hardik?
01:10Like I said in my last interview as well, it's on a daily basis he's going through his programme.
01:17So far everything seems okay but there were no timelines given by NCA so we'll wait on that.
01:30Mumbai lost four wickets to wrist spin of Noor Ahmed in the first game.
01:35With GT also playing spinners and the threat of Rashid's leg spin also looming large.
01:41Do you think it's going to be an additional challenge for the middle order to counter especially in conditions here in Ahmedabad?
01:47Yeah, I think Noor is a really good quality world class spinner.
01:54I remember that last year as well it was a task and obviously in Chennai even though we handled him better we just gave a couple of soft ones.
02:07The conditions played a part but that's different.
02:11Here it's different. The spinners that we have to face here is different.
02:15We have quite a few guys who are familiar with Rash as well because he was playing all over.
02:22But every game is a challenge.
02:24We see it that way and we just need to prepare for that and execute the plans that we have.
02:33And see what gets us there.
02:39The tournament is going in a different pace altogether with the high scores being scored in every match, almost every second match.
02:46What do you tell your bowlers before or after every match?
02:49Because it's so easy to lose morale as a bowler when you see 240-250 being scored for fun in every second, third match.
02:57One of the reasons we bought a very experienced bowling attack is that they don't think like that.
03:03I think we have to segregate the venues, where the venues are, how that is being done.
03:09So I think we got enough experience to understand how it works.
03:14So like I said, each venue, each opposition throws us different challenges and that's something that we will focus on.
03:21Rather than, yes we do watch other games, we see what happens in those venues, those particular opponents, how they play.
03:33But that's separate to what we have to face here.
03:38So as long as we understand that, then that is how we plan and structure things.
03:43And once we get to that venue, once we see that opposition, that's when our plans come into play.
03:49Because we can't play to what they are doing there and play here.
03:54Because the conditions are different, we are playing a different opposition.
04:01We saw in the first match Arjun Tendulkar was not in the team.
04:05So how do you see his role in the next match or in the tournament?
04:09Will he be included or how are you seeing to use him?
04:12I have 23 squad players. I'll play people according to what I see, the skill set and what we require.
04:20So there's no preference on any particular individual.
04:26Arjun's been working hard. He had a niggle that he came to the camp with.
04:31So that's something that we needed to protect.
04:34And at the same time he felt sick as well.
04:37Like any other player, he's part of the squad.
04:41He played for us a few years back.
04:44And I think last year did he play?
04:47Year before last he had played.
04:49So if the requirement needs, he's available, he's not injured, yes, he'll be considered.
04:58Pranay from Sportstar here.
05:02It was revealed that Vignesh Puthur had a training thing with Rashid Khan in Cape Town.
05:10What was that process like?
05:14I wasn't there.
05:16Yes, I was part of the thought process, but I wasn't there.
05:21It was just to get him out and expose him to cricket.
05:27Because we felt that there is talent.
05:32Because he hasn't played much cricket prior.
05:36Give him that exposure working with some players.
05:40And that's about it.
05:43VP's been chilled and he's getting along with it.
05:48I know there's a lot of things that have been said, but guys, it's just a game of cricket.
05:53Things can change.
05:55So we've approached it in a very different way.
05:58It's one game at a time.
06:00He can have his good days, his bad days, as any good cricketer has had.
06:03I'm sure Rashid has had the same thing.
06:06So we're preparing him for that.
06:09Am I the only one who is teaching in this ground?
06:16So what will be a different approach for the national team?
06:38It's a start. I'm fresh.
06:40So I'll think fresh.
06:47It's hard to make it to any playing level in IPL, let alone Mumbai, which has a star-studded squad.
06:55You said that he has not played much of T20 cricket.
06:58What made you pick him in the X-Factor?
07:01Just the skill set.
07:05He wasn't faced with anything that we've thrown to him.
07:08He's still learning.
07:10That's a good thing about him.
07:12We just felt that whether it's the last game or whether it's the 10th game or whether it's next year,
07:20he was always going to play for Mumbai and he was ready to play.
07:24Given the combination that we wanted to play, once we went to Chennai, we saw the wicket as well.
07:31We felt that it's for his skill set that suited and for him to play that game.
07:40Yes, it was unknown for us because he hasn't played, but I thought he held his nerves and bowled brilliantly.
07:48But like I said to the other gentleman, it's a learning process.
07:53He needs to start from ball one again and he understands that and we just build him for that.
