Transcript
00:00The Bendigo Football Netball Club point of view, we see it as a great opportunity to not only showcase the game but have it on Anzac Day.
00:07And what that day means to the community is really special to us and we want to make sure it's given the respect it deserves.
00:14It's not just a football netball match, it's more than that and we're really rapt to have the RSL supported with us
00:21and to have the Bendigo Football Netball League support us along with the City of Greater Bendigo Council, Eagle Hawk.
00:27There's a lot to put together for this and we're really excited for the day. Glenn, I'm not sure if you could add to that.
00:33The veteran community sees Anzac Day until lunchtime as a time of commemorating those that have fallen and those who have served in defence of their nation.
00:44After lunchtime the flag goes to the full mast, the veterans catch up, there's two other occasions, there's sporting events across the nation and overseas.
00:56Until lunchtime it's a very solemn occasion, it can be quite churning. After that, after lunch we do a social occasion.
01:03It's great to be part of a respectful organisation like the Bendigo Football League conducting this event and we're happy to come along
01:10and if it gives better awareness to the community of our 103,021 war dead and so many more families that are affected by service,
01:19I think it's a significant and dignified event.
