04:57The king of Mewar, Maharana Sangha
05:02Who fought multiple battles against invaders
05:06Defeated Ibrahim Lodi not once but multiple times
05:09Fought and defeated Mehmood Khilji too in the Battle of Malwa
05:14Defeated the combined armies of Malwa and Gujarat
05:17Fought Babur
05:19Did he invite Babur to India?
05:23Rajya Sabha Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman raised this issue
05:29He was a traitor used by political leaders
05:34This led to a huge ruckus in Parliament
05:37with the Bharatiya Janata Party demanding an apology
05:41Why was an Indian king, a son of the soil, called a traitor?
05:46Ramji Lal Suman refuses to apologise
05:50This escalated after Karni Sena activists
05:54vandalised Ramji Lal Suman's house in Agra
05:58All they should have done was put out details of the valour
06:02Unparalleled valour of Rana Sangha in public domain
06:06instead of behaving like goons
06:08We get you more in this report
06:10I don't agree, the constitution doesn't give permission
06:15History wars play out in Parliament
06:19The BJP on Friday slammed Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman's
06:24description of Rajput ruler Maharana Sangha as a traitor
06:30demanding an apology from the Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha MP
06:35Union Minister Kiran Rijiju called Suman's statement on Maharana Sangha an insult
06:41No one can justify violence here
06:47If the nation's hero is insulted here
06:52I don't think it's only Ramji Lal Suman's fault
06:57But even if Rana Sangha's statement is removed
07:02it is being circulated on social media and in the news
07:06How can anyone accept what the MP has said about Rana Sangha?
07:16The Congress condemned the statement
07:19but also criticised the vandalism at the Samajwadi Party MP's house
07:24in Agra by the Karni Sena on Wednesday
07:29I respect the patriots who fought for this country
07:43But it doesn't mean that the law will never kill us
07:54Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar has expunged the Samajwadi Party MP's statement
08:02The Rajya Sabha was adjourned as the opposition and the treasury benches
08:07sparred over Ramji Lal Suman's remarks
08:12I would appeal to all segments of the house
08:16that what happened in the house was expunged for a simple reason
08:23It was outrageous, it was unexpected of a member
08:29Amidst the uproar about his statement
08:33Ramji Lal Suman refuses to apologise for calling Rana Sangha a traitor
08:43My intention was not to insult anyone
08:46I have said what I wanted to say
08:49The BJP and the Samajwadi Party have hardened their stance
08:55as the controversy snowballs
08:59How far will the MPs of the Samajwadi Party fall for the vote bank?
09:04Sometimes they respect Aurangzeb, sometimes they insult Shivaji
09:08What is the meaning of this?
09:10This will not be tolerated
09:12In this very house, in the last 17th Lok Sabha
09:16a Muslim MP has been insulted
09:22In this very house, no action has been taken
09:26The fight over Rana Sangha's legacy is shaking up UP politics
09:31Kshatriya outfit Karni Sena went on the rampage
09:35outside Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman's house in Agra on Wednesday
09:42The Samajwadi Party has accused the Yogi Adityanath government
09:46of failing to provide security to a Dalit MP
09:50Bureau report, India Today
09:56And I quickly want to bring in India Today's Piyush Mishra for more on this
10:00Piyush, suddenly when everyone was saying
10:03Yes, the comments that were made about Rana Sangha are in bad taste
10:08and everyone should be on the same page
10:11Jagdeep Dhankar was saying that a sense of the house should come out
10:14How did things just turn around?
10:16It seemed to have exploded and become a Dalit issue
10:20or a Dalit being attacked issue
10:22Is this part of a very carefully crafted strategy?
10:26On Aurangzeb, Abu Azmi makes a statement
10:29Is that an attempt to consolidate the Muslim votes?
10:33Use a Dalit MP to make a statement, divide the Hindu votes
10:37Is that what the strategy is?
10:39It seems like that because in the state of Uttar Pradesh
10:43we are seeing how the Samajwadi Party has come out in open support of Ramji Lal Suman
10:48Ram Gopal Yadav, who is a senior leader of Samajwadi Party
10:51He was accompanied by Ramji Lal Suman when both had gone to meet Jagdeep Dhankar
10:57requesting him to provide security to Samajwadi Party MP
11:02Remember that the Samajwadi Party is now saying that a Dalit has been attacked
11:08because he just spoke something
11:11What we are also told is that the entire India Alliance is facing a lot of problems
11:16in supporting Ramji Lal Suman's comments
11:20Though Malik Arjun Gadde who is the leader of the opposition in the house
11:23said that it's wrong to use such words against our great heroes, real warriors
11:30but he did not condemn them, condemn that particular statement
11:34But also I want to highlight that he did condemn what happened there in Agra
11:39where the house of Ramji Lal Suman was attacked
11:42So we are now seeing allegations coming in from the BJP
11:47that the Samajwadi Party is doing this because they want to do a peace with politics
11:52But the leaders of India have gone all out against Suman
11:57But I also want to understand
11:59This is absolutely right
12:02You cannot attack anybody for a statement made
12:06Even the Supreme Court talks about freedom of expression
12:09But explain this to me
12:11Has Yogi Adityanath government taken any action whatsoever
12:15against those goons who went and attacked Ramji Lal Suman's house
12:19because Karni Sena should read up about Rana Sangha
12:22and put out facts in public domain about him
12:25instead of attacking Ramji Lal Suman's house
12:27Has any action been taken against those vandals?
12:30What we are told is that a few people have been detained
12:35and senior police officials have maintained in Uttar Pradesh
12:38that the actions are being taken, legal actions are being taken
12:42But at the same time, various leaders of Uttar Pradesh
12:45are condemning what Ramji Lal Suman is saying
12:48But we will have to wait and watch how the government
12:51is further going to move ahead and take actions against him
12:54because Ramji Lal Suman is not only seeking security
12:57to be given there at Agra's residence
12:59but also when he is in Delhi
13:02and that's why he approached the chairperson of Rajya Sabha
13:05Remember that today also we tried to get in a word from Ramji Lal Suman
13:09but he has decided not to apologize
13:12He continues to remain defiant
13:15Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shogayat Rath has also condemned this
13:19We have to see what kind of legal course the BJP is going to further take
13:24as far as the comments which Ramji Lal Suman has made
13:27and also what happened there in Agra
13:30But one thing is absolutely clear that BJP is not going to bow down
13:34till the time Ramji Lal Suman apologizes
13:38Stay with me for a moment and for the benefit of viewers who are joining us
13:42Medieval Indian history is a period that not everyone
13:45talks extensively about
13:48the Indian heroes, the sons and daughters of the soil
13:52who fought not just foreign invaders
13:55but also their descendants
13:57So let me tell you a little about Maharana Sanga
14:00the brave son of Mewar
14:03His capital was in Chittorgarh
14:06Maharana Pratap comes from the same family
14:09was one of his descendants
14:11Maharana Sanga is believed to have fought
14:14hundreds of battles with just one significant defeat
14:17He is accused by Ramji Lal Suman
14:20and of course Babarnama and several historians say
14:23that he invited Babar to India
14:25Now that's a hotly contested point
14:28Various Rajput clans
14:31they united against a common threat
14:34Now he was defeated at Khanwa
14:37and that marked the beginning of Mughal dominance in India
14:41Now Jazia was a tax that was imposed by Islamic rulers in India
14:47even before the Mughals came in
14:50wherever Maharana Sanga
14:53re-established Hindu kingdoms
14:55whether it was defeating Ibrahim Lodhi
14:58in the battles that he did in 1517 and 1519
15:01or when he defeated the combined armies of Malwa and Gujarat in 1520
15:07well he removed, he abolished Jazia
15:10wherever Islamic rulers had imposed Jazia
15:13He is accused of misjudging Babar's intention to stay in India
15:19but it's again hotly contested
15:21he did not, according to historians
15:24who take the nationalist line
15:26he did not invite Babar to India
15:29considering he defeated Ibrahim Lodhi twice before himself
15:33they ask why would he need Babar's help to defeat Ibrahim Lodhi
15:37He defeated Ibrahim Lodhi and went back to Chittor each time
15:40as did the Peshwas who would defeat the Mughal emperors
15:43and go back to Maharashtra
15:46He defeated Ibrahim Lodhi at Ghatoli and in Dholpur
15:53He failed to see Babar's decision to establish Islamic rule or Mughal rule in India
15:58as some historians argue
16:00He is remembered as a symbol of Rajput valor and resistance
16:05Alliance with Afghan chiefs, it failed against Babar
16:10because again Babar, he said this is Jihad
16:15Babar's armies, they had lost in the past
16:18they were defeated, they wanted to go back
16:21and they were tired of their constant combats
16:24but Babar said this is Jihad, it's Islam versus infidels or kafirs of India
16:31and that is where they were able to unite
16:34it didn't unite on the other side
16:37Historians disagree on whether Rana Sangha explicitly invited Babar
16:42Babar Nama mentions best wishes and a proposal from Rana Sangha
16:47If the honored Padshah will come to near Delhi from that side
16:52I will move on to Agra from this side
16:55Rana Sangha is believed to have written according to Babar Nama
16:58which has been translated
17:00but historical records other than Babar Nama does not verify this claim at all
17:05Historians like Satish Chandra, they argue that Rana Sangha
17:08had hoped to take advantage of Babar's conflict with the Lodhis
17:12rather than formally inviting him
17:14Historian Jadunath Sarkar, he dismisses the idea
17:18of invitation from Rana Sangha to Babar completely
17:23He says Babar's invasion was driven by his ambition
17:26and his alliances with Lodhi rebels
17:29Gauri Shankar, Hirachand Ojha argues that it was Babar
17:33who actually sought Rana Sangha's help against the Lodhis
17:37There are multiple angles to the story
17:39but some would choose to believe only Babar's and Aurangzeb's
17:45is the argument that is often put forward
17:48Let's listen in to what Union Minister S.P. Singh Bhagel said
17:51on Ram Jilal's statement
18:15I want to shift focus to the other big story we are tracking around India today
18:29and that's the twin earthquakes
18:31that jolted Myanmar and Thailand earlier today
18:34back to back earthquake
18:36epicenter 7.7 and 6.4 struck Myanmar and Thailand
18:40strong tremors were felt in Thailand's capital Bangkok
18:43the tremors were also felt in the Yunnan province of China
18:47the iconic Ewa Bridge in Myanmar's Mandalay
18:51reportedly collapsed into the Irrawaddy River
18:54several buildings crumbled because of this massive earthquake
18:58such was the impact of the earthquake
19:00the tremors rocked Bangkok 900 plus kilometers away
19:04flattening a high-rise building in Thailand
19:07we are told some reports initially seem to suggest
19:0940 people, workers were trapped in this building
19:12a recent update seems to indicate that more than 80 are feared trapped
19:16at least 25 people have also been reported dead in Myanmar
19:21Thailand has now reported a lockdown
19:23a total lockdown at the airport, at subways
19:26because multiple aftershocks are also feared
19:30people are being told not to return to their buildings
19:33until they've been declared safe to occupy once again
19:37a state of emergency has been declared in Bangkok
19:41apart from Thailand, tremors were also felt in the southwest Yunnan province of China
19:47Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken stock of the situation
19:50the Prime Minister said he's concerned by the earthquake
19:53and the situation in the wake of these tremors
19:56both in Myanmar and in Thailand
19:58he's prayed for the safety and well-being of everyone
20:01and India has offered all possible help
20:04that either Myanmar or Thailand may require
20:09as you can see some people remain in the streets of Bangkok
20:13more than two hours after a serious earthquake shook the Thai capital
20:17around 1pm the floor in the room where I was staying
20:22started to shake as well as the furniture and the lamp
20:25it was quite a scary feeling at that moment
20:29I was at this very hotel on the 8th floor
20:33immediately we've heard that police cars appeared
20:39with loudspeakers instructing people to leave their hotels
20:43and hotel staff helped everyone to evacuate
20:46so for more than two hours people remained in the streets
20:49waiting for further instructions and waiting for what is going to happen
20:53most people feared aftershocks
20:56we know that it affected the functioning of the Thai capital
21:01in general the structure
21:03when I asked the staff at the hotel reception
21:06whether transportation is intact
21:08they told me that about an hour after the earthquake
21:13the airport of Suvarnabhumi
21:15the main airport of Bangkok
21:18was functioning in terms of receiving flights
21:21but was not letting any flights out of the Thai capital
21:25of course the biggest fear was the fear of the aftershocks
21:30as for the rest of the condition of the buildings here
21:34you see that they are intact
21:35it might have been different in other parts of the city and of the country
21:38and the biggest impact is probably the psychological one
21:42as people were very scared
21:44not everyone was prepared for anything like that
21:47not many people knew how to act in this situation
21:51we all seek the cracks
21:53all of us are sitting out hungry
21:55there are small small kids who are very scared
21:57and they are crying a lot
21:59the situation is very bad
22:00the prime minister has announced for an emergency
22:03and we all are praying hard
22:04please everyone pray hard for Bangkok, Thailand
22:09so a state of emergency was declared
22:11the prime minister was in a meeting with top cabinet members
22:15and administration to see what help was required
22:19and had to be given to people
22:21Nan Rattikarn is a climate activist
22:24who joins us from Bangkok
22:25Rudra Kumar is a local again
22:27who joins us from Bangkok
22:28and Rudra if I could ask you first
22:31there was a state of emergency that was declared
22:33we were also told that the airport was shut
22:36is the airport operational now or remains shut?
22:41yeah
22:45hello
22:46yes can you hear me?
22:47yeah yeah I can hear you
22:49during this time like everything shut down in Bangkok
22:52you know and people also cannot come inside the building
22:56they are waiting around to check that the building is safe now
23:01and yeah we still didn't take any staff
23:05outside from our building
23:07and we are waiting
23:09so you're still waiting to enter buildings
23:12the administration had asked everybody to come out
23:15of their homes
23:16several buildings were declared unsafe
23:19so will people be staying out tonight?
23:22is there food available?
23:23are medicines available?
23:25is that a problem?
23:27yeah during this time mostly like
23:30they still come to check the building
23:33that it's safe enough or not
23:34and we're not allowed to use the elevator
23:37and as you know that we have a lot of high-rise buildings
23:40and people like have to wait
23:42they just allow like five people or two people
23:45but come with the security to walk up there
23:48to get the staff
23:50and now from here
23:52yeah four hours already
23:54they still have to check about their staff
23:56to come back home
23:58okay
23:59yeah and also traffic jam here
24:01there's a massive traffic jam
24:03is the airport now open?
24:05is the airport now open?
24:07or does the airport remain in lockdown?
24:09is the airport still closed?
24:12I'm not sure so much
24:14but in the beginning like they said
24:16it's still closed
24:17but what I can see here from the BTS station
24:20the SkyTent
24:21it's still closed
24:22and they don't know like when they will open again
24:25they said we have to wait until an hour again
24:30okay
24:31Nan stay with me
24:32stay with me for a moment
24:33I want to bring in Rudra Kumar
24:35who also joins us on the show
24:37Rudra what can you tell us
24:38where are you?
24:39are people around you safe?
24:41are aftershocks still being felt?
24:45currently I'm in my home area
24:48and it's kind of a low rising area
24:52so like there's not many high buildings and stuff
24:54so people here are pretty calm about it
24:57they're pretty chill
24:58but my school's in an area with a lot of high rise buildings
25:02so like there was a lot of chaos definitely
25:05and for the aftershocks
25:07there's been many news coming in
25:09fake, real, I don't know
25:11but as of now I haven't experienced any aftershock
25:13after the actual earthquake
25:16so I think that's that
25:19and is there electricity?
25:21is the airport still shut?
25:23because some tourists were very scared in the morning
25:26they wanted to go back to their home countries
25:29are they able to do that?
25:33definitely
25:34I'm not sure about the airport
25:36I'm sure about some stuff in my area
25:38that's shut down
25:39like some apartments that are high rise buildings
25:41people are not allowed to enter
25:43so they have to stay away for the night
25:45especially in high rise buildings
25:47that are situated right next to the Chao Phraya river
25:51there's people who cannot go in those buildings
25:53because they're not allowed to
25:55I'm not really sure about the airport
25:56but yes I'm sure about the fact
25:58that there were many people who wanted to go home
26:00and many of my friends also are saying
26:02that they want to go home
26:04to another country
26:05to flee the country
26:06because there's many aftershock scares
26:08that maybe it's tomorrow
26:09maybe it's today
26:12there was also a tsunami apprehension
26:15have you heard anything about that?
26:18were people asked to move away from the sea?
26:22or were they just bits of information
26:25that were being shared on social media
26:27and not officially?
26:30I don't think it's officially been shared
26:33on any news channel
26:34but yes definitely there's been
26:36there's been a lot of stuff spreading
26:38about tsunamis on social media
26:39and I've heard about it
26:40and people are just fearing
26:42that maybe the tsunami from back then
26:45in Phuket might come back
26:47so it just scares amongst people
26:50maybe there might be a tsunami
26:52maybe there might not be
26:53but geographically we shouldn't rule out
26:55the possibility of a tsunami
26:58Nan if you can hear me
27:00do people have access to food and water
27:04outside their homes
27:05if they're not being permitted to go in?
27:08yeah we're still waiting
27:11and now it seems like
27:12somewhere burning already
27:14with the building
27:22we're looking at massive traffic jams behind you
27:25a lot of people are there on the streets
27:27can you walk around
27:29Nan can you walk around
27:30and show us what's happening?
27:32okay I can show you
27:34like what's happening around here
27:38and also they have like
27:40a prevention department
27:42and also like many workers
27:44from the building construction
27:47come back home
27:48but yeah still traffic jam
27:50and I am in the alley station
27:53it's the SkyTrain station
27:56it's still closed
27:57no the SkyTrain
28:01and people are still waiting here you see
28:04a lot yeah
28:06oh so everybody's out on the streets
28:09will you also
28:11will you and your friends and family
28:13I hope everyone is safe
28:14will you be out on the streets tonight?
28:17we don't know yet
28:18because they don't allow us to pick the stuff
28:21yeah
28:23okay
28:24and are shops now open
28:26or are shops and markets all shut?
28:30the shops
28:32some open
28:33some shut already
28:35but what my parents and my colleagues said
28:38the best place we should
28:39move out from Bangkok
28:41because Bangkok is so
28:42so much high-rise building here
28:44better we should like
28:45leave some open space
28:47and yeah
28:48like far away
28:49from the high-rise building in Bangkok
28:52okay Nan you stay safe
28:53Rudra stay safe
28:55I will come back to both of you
28:57for more

30:16that Kunal Kamra had received
30:18after airing of his new clip
30:20of the stand-up video of Naya Bharat
30:22Justice Sundar Mohan said
30:24he is prima facie
30:26satisfied that Kunal Kamra
30:28is unable to approach the courts
30:30in Maharashtra for protection
30:32the court was thus inclined
30:34to grant anticipatory bail
30:36I quickly want to cut across
30:38to India Today's Divyesh Singh
30:40who joins us with the latest
30:42on the story
30:43so Divyesh
30:44while Mumbai Police had insisted

30:51which is where the second summons
30:52were sent to him
30:53but this is relief for the comedian
30:57well yes

31:06he will be receiving multiple threats
31:08multiple death threats
31:10and he will not be able to appear
31:13before the Khar police
31:15and sought anticipatory bail
31:17in the summons issued to him
31:18in the FIR registered against him
31:20at the Khar police station
31:21now after hearing the appeal
31:23after hearing the application
31:25of Kunal Kamra for anticipatory bail

31:33to Kunal Kamra
31:35till the April 7th
31:37till April 7th
31:38he has interim relief
31:40meanwhile the Khar police

31:43which asked him to appear
31:45by March 31st
31:47in front of the Khar police station
31:49officials regarding the
31:51satirical video that they made

32:31the Punjab police assault
32:33on a serving army
32:34Colonel Pushpendra Singh
32:36Badh in Patiala
32:38so the Punjab and Haryana High Court asked
32:40what were the police vehicles
32:42doing there at that time
32:44at the time of the incident
32:45on what duty were they
32:47when this incident took place
32:49at that time
32:51were they or were they not
32:53in uniform
32:55the High Court said
32:56the big question is that the FIR
32:58and this is extremely significant
33:00in this case
33:01the High Court said
33:02that the FIR
33:04was first registered on the complaint
33:06of the Dhaba owner
33:08and not the victim
33:10that is Colonel Pushpendra Singh Badh
33:12and his son Angad
33:14the petitioner's lawyer
33:16again said CBI investigation
33:18will be the best way forward
33:20as several senior
33:22police officers were
33:24involved not just in the assault
33:26but sadly
33:28even the alleged cover up
33:30the hearing has now been adjourned
33:32till the 3rd of April
33:34this incident had taken place on the night
33:36intervening March 13 and 14
33:38when Colonel Badh and his son
33:40were at a roadside Dhaba
33:42near the Government Rajendra Hospital
33:44in Patiala
33:46the family said the two were
33:48standing next to their car
33:50having food at night while
33:52driving from Delhi to Patiala
33:54when some police officers in civil
33:56clothes approached them
33:58and rudely asked the Colonel
34:00apparently to move
34:02his car away, there was an altercation
34:04the Colonel and his son
34:06were then assaulted by
34:08at least 12 police personnel
34:10including
34:12apparently 4 police
34:14inspectors
