00:49Hello, welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from the Derso Studios in Caracas,
00:59Venezuela.
01:00We begin with the news.
01:16The 7th flight with 178 migrants deported from Honduras, a country through which they
01:20were illegally and unjustly sent by the United States, arrived to Venezuela through the Return
01:25to the Homeland Plan.
01:26The plane of the state-owned airline Conviasa landed on Venezuelan soil with 168 men and
01:3113 women.
01:33Upon their arrival, the nationals were received by the Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace
01:37Gustavo Cabello and the President of the Great Mission Back to the Homeland Anai Arizmendi,
01:42who reaffirmed their commitment to the welfare of the Venezuelan migrants.
01:46The flights take place after Washington sent more than 200 migrants to El Salvador, accused
01:52and detained for their alleged but not proven links with the extinct criminal Trindadaragua
01:56gang.
01:57At this moment, 2 and 46 minutes a.m. in the morning local time, we received all the immigrant
02:12migrants that came in this flight, 165 men who have been returning to their homeland.
02:22They are going to reunite with their families.
02:29One of the men we received, they said, the government of the U.S. said, is sharing, is
02:45cutting the families apart, dividing children from their mothers.
02:51The President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, rejected the threats of the U.S. government
02:55regarding the controversy over the Guayanes Equiva.
02:57The Venezuelan President condemned the recent hegemonic declarations by the United States
03:02regarding the territory of the Esequibo, pointed out the interest of imperialism in the country's
03:07resources.
03:08For this part, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Hill stated that foreign interests would
03:12not be allowed to try to rewrite the reality of the disputed territory.
03:16All this after the Secretary of State of the United States, Marco Rubio, reiterated the
03:20current commitment of the U.S. government with Guayana and threatened a military intervention
03:23in the country.
03:25These threats have been made since Venezuela announced that it will elect a governor for
03:28the eastern part of the country in its regional election, scheduled for next May 25th.
03:36And U.S. returns 60 irregular migrants to Cuba under bilateral migration agreements.
03:41The Cuban Ministry of the Interior explained that of the 60 deportees, 55 are men and five
03:45are women.
03:46The ministry highlights that within the group, there was a person who was transferred to
03:50the investigation body, this after it was detected that he was an alleged perpetrator
03:54of criminal acts before migrating.
03:56With the arrival of these citizens, there are already 13 returns in 2025.
04:00Among all the groups of irregular migrants returned, the entity points out which amounts
04:04to 367 people so far this year.
04:11The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump alters satellite surveillance of border
04:15with Mexico.
04:16As part of a crackdown on illegal migration and drug cartels, U.S. President Donald Trump
04:20authorized two spy agencies to train their satellite monitoring capabilities on the U.S.-Mexico
04:25border.
04:26These actions, combined with the deployment of forces, demonstrate the increasing militarization
04:30of the southern border, where President Donald Trump has proclaimed a national emergency.
04:34The President made immigration enforcement a major focus of his campaign, halting green
04:38card applications and carrying out mass deportations.
04:45And with a civic act at the Colorado Party House and the participation of four presidents,
04:50Uruguay celebrated the 40th anniversary of the return of democracy to the country.
04:55The event was attended by the current president of Uruguay, Yamandú Orci, and former presidents
04:59Julio María Zanguinetti, José Mujica and Luis Alberto Lacalle Herrera, who debated
05:04for more than an hour while former presidents Luis Lacalle Pozo sent a video with statements.
05:09In this context, Orci celebrated the meeting and highlighted the democratic dynamic that
05:13exists in the country between the opposition and the government.
05:16For his part, former president José Pepe Mujica called for unity among Uruguayans.

05:46Welcome back.
05:54Colombian President Gustavo Petro denounced a media group by the Council of State after
05:58it imposed a tutela that prohibits the presidency from broadcasting live through its councils
06:02of ministers, private and public media.
06:04Petro affirmed that the spaces on public and private television are not subject to seizure.
06:09He also questioned that the electromagnetic spectrum cannot be privatized in Colombia,
06:13nor can it be used only by the owners of private channels, as it would be contrary
06:17to the constitutional rights to pluralism of information and truthfulness.
06:22President Petro also invited all legal experts on the subject of pluralism of information
06:26and television to express their views on this process that is beginning and which is worth
06:31studying nationally and internationally in depth.
06:37And in this regard, the Council of State has approved a tutela action against President
06:42Gustavo Petro, who intends not to broadcast his councils of ministers live during private
06:49time on the country's private and public television channels.
06:52It should be noted that since February, President Gustavo Petro has decided that his councils
06:56of ministers, which take place once a week, should be broadcast on national television,
07:02on both public and private channels.
07:04In response, citizen Maria Cristina Cuellar has filed an action for tutela against the
07:08Presidency of the Republic, claiming that the broadcast violates the fundamental rights
07:12to information and respect for the right to choose the mass media that suits citizens.
07:22And the governments of Colombia and the United States signed an agreement on the exchange
07:26of migratory information to strengthen bilateral cooperation in achieving a migratory policy
07:31that respects human rights.
07:32The deal was signed by the Colombian Foreign Minister Laura Sarabia and the United States
07:36Secretary of Homeland Security Cristian Noem, and is aimed at the repatriation of Colombian
07:41nationals from the United States to the South American country.
07:44The U.S. delegation emphasized that Washington is willing to work with Colombia on border
07:48security with the exchange of biometric data.
07:53We have signed a statement of intent for biometric cooperation, and it will reaffirm our strong
07:59and our resilient and enduring partnership that we have between the United States and
08:03Colombia.
08:04We're going to strengthen our regional security systems and make sure that we're disrupting
08:08the movement of threatening actors that perpetuate illegal activity and also facilitate illegal
08:15trafficking of migrants across the Western Hemisphere.
08:18And Panamanian President Jose Raul Molino says during a press conference that his country
08:22will not return to having U.S. military bases in response to reports fueled by Donald Trump
08:27threats to recover the inter-Oceanic Canal.
08:32Believe it or not, there will be no military bases of any power, be it the United States
08:37or any other part of the world.
08:39The neutrality treaty is respected, and the only country with the right to have a military
08:44presence in Panama or military security bases in Panama is our republic, the Republic of
08:50Panama.
08:54My government cannot go against history.
08:59This country fought to dismantle the U.S. military bases in our territory.
09:05From there to us cooperating, we have been doing it since the 90s, and especially today
09:11on issues such as drug trafficking, immigration, et cetera.
09:17I sincerely hope that when the time comes and he presents his credentials, I will have
09:22a frank conversation with him.
09:23I have the best recommendations of him directly from Secretary of State Rubio himself.
09:28So we are going to understand each other.
09:31Both he and other authorities have expressed their interest in having a good relation with
09:35Panama.
09:36And in Panama, workers continue to mobilize in rejection of Law 462 on reforms to the
09:41Social Security Fund, recently enacted by President José Raúl Molino.
09:45Workers oppose Law 462, which reformed the pension system to allow private outsourcing
09:50of the administration and placement of Social Security funds.
09:54The protests will also include demands against open-pit metal mining, the high cost of living
09:58and the construction of a dam on the Indio River to supply the Panama Canal.
10:03Should be noted that these actions follow demonstrations held in previous years, when
10:06debates on the environmental and social impact of mining projects, such as the copper mine
10:10in Donoso, were reactivated.
10:13The Central de Trabajadores del Panamá is definitely against having this law, because
10:22it threatens the national security of all Panama workers, and most of all, the future
10:28of the youth, who will be the most affected, our children, our families.
10:32So I invite the Panama people to join this fight.
10:37We already know what is going to happen, they are not going to discuss it, but in the streets
10:42we are going to defeat Law 462, and we are going to defeat the pretension and the opening
10:46of the mines.
10:47We are preparing ourselves today.
10:59... in Chiriqui, in Conkle, in Darien, here in Panama.
11:03That is to say, this is extended at a national level.
11:07And the Mexican government officially approved a reform for the protection of native corn,
11:12prohibiting the use of genetically modified corn throughout the national territory.
11:16This measure substantially modifies Articles 4 and 27 of the Political Constitution of
11:19the United Mexican States, in support of the production of native corn.
11:23The new text of the fourth constitutional article establishes that corn production in
11:27the country must remain free of any genetic modification produced through techniques
11:31that transcend the natural barriers of reproduction or recombination, while Article 27 defines
11:37the premises for guaranteeing food sovereignty and sustainable rural development.
11:41Previously, Mexico's President Claudio C. Blanc stated that this initiative seeks to
11:45guarantee biodiversity, food sovereignty, and the health of Mexicans.

13:14buildings were evacuated.
13:34On Friday morning, U.S. warplanes launched approximately 41 airstrikes against several
13:38areas of Yemen.
13:39These attacks targeted the capital city of Sana'a and its surroundings as well as other
13:43Yemeni governorates, causing severe damage to infrastructure and telecommunications networks.
13:47One of the places affected in the capital is the Sana'a International Airport, where
13:51seven civilians, including two children, were wounded after two consecutive attacks.
13:55The escalation of U.S. violence against the country comes in an attempt to dissuade Yemen
13:59from its military operations in support of the Palestinian people and the Gaza Strip.
14:07And according to images published by local media, it was possible to record damage to
14:11stores in the area of the General Command caused by U.S. attacks against the Yemeni

14:16Donald Trump's government has carried out multiple bombings in different parts of Yemen
14:20since the night of March 15, when one of them caused the death of 53 people.
14:30An 11-year-old Israeli military aircraft violated again the ceasefire status in the region and
14:34carried out new attacks in the south of the country, leaving at least four people killed.
14:38According to a report issued by the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health, one of the attacks

14:47people.
14:48The fourth victim was killed in the town of Maroub, in the district of Tiro, when one
14:53of the Israeli drones fired a guided missile in the direction of the vehicle of the Lebanese,
14:57who was later identified as Hassan Nama Sabra, a commander of the resistance movement Hezbollah.
15:03Despite the implementation of the ceasefire truce on November 27, 2024, the Israeli regime
15:09has continued its attacks against the Arab country, announcing its continued presence
15:12in five critical areas in southern Lebanon.
15:20In Israel, a new anti-government demonstration called for an agreement for the release of
15:23hostages and the resignation of Benjamin Netanyahu.
15:26Thousands of demonstrators rallied in Tel Aviv's Havimah Square on Thursday night to
15:31demand that the prime minister stop attacks on the Gaza Strip and reach an agreement with
15:35Hamas resistance movement for the release of the remaining 59 hostages.
15:40The protest also rejected the government's decision to move ahead with the expulsion
15:43of top security officials and its plans to reform the judiciary.
15:47Several demonstrators stated that the main enemy of the Israelis is the far-right-wing
15:51government.
15:57In Iran, a multitude of people marched in the streets of the country's main cities
16:01on the World Al-Quds Day to reject the Israeli occupation and defend the Palestinian cause.
16:06Amidst Iranian and Palestinian flags, the attendees denounced the occupation of the
16:09Israeli regime and the violation of the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, while demanding the
16:13resignation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
16:16Among the crowd, posters with images of the mosque's plenade accompanied by the phrase
16:20Al-Quds is Ours, a slogan that defines the determination of the Muslim world to liberate
16:25the city of Jerusalem.
16:26The day of Al-Quds, instituted in 1979 by the founder of the Islamic Revolution, Iman
16:32Khamenei, continues to be for more than 40 years a promise of war until the Palestinian
16:37people achieve their self-determination.
16:51And in Iran as well, Tehran's Milad Tower was the center of the celebrations of Nowruz,
16:55the Persian New Year, a festival that marks the beginning of the spring and highlights
16:59the country's ancestral traditions.
17:02This year's events include folklore performances, traditional music and dances, as well as displays
17:07of local handicrafts, such as hand-woven carpets.
17:11Visitors also enjoyed a gastronomic market offering everything from sweets to typical
17:14dishes from various Iranian provinces, with live demonstrations of the preparation of
17:19the food.
17:20The Nowruz holiday not only celebrates renewal and hope, but also brings families together
17:24and fosters a sense of community, highlighting the cultural richness of Iran.
