00:00We know that people in the north need more investment in their transport infrastructure.
00:04People are relying on Victorian-era infrastructure.
00:07People need better trains, buses and roads and trams to be able to get to work,
00:11get to doctor's appointments and so on.
00:13And businesses, crucially, want that investment so that they can then invest
00:16and help to grow the economy.
00:18One really good example of the new investment we're putting in
00:21is the £415 million in the TransPennine upgrade.
00:25Now, this upgrade will deliver by the 2030s,
00:27but we want to make sure people get benefits sooner than that,
00:30which is why we're putting in this extra £415 million
00:33to start bringing the upgrades forward as quickly as possible,
00:36further electrification next year,
00:38so that people can have a better service that they deserve.
