00:00Muslim Law Board calling for the Waqf-Bill protest, remember we have seen in the background
00:09of how there have been anti-Waqf Amendment Bill protests especially in Delhi at Jantar
00:14Mantar.
00:15Now the Muslim Board says wear a black band for Namaz.
00:19Today is Friday, afternoon prayers where you can expect of course big congregations with
00:24regard to the Namaz prayers.
00:26But the Muslim cleric here appears to have said don't do sloganeering, there should not
00:32be any violence but wear a black band.
00:35Black band symbolic in representation to the protest against what will go out as a message
00:41against the Waqf-Bill.
00:42Let's listen in to who is this cleric, why is he making this kind of a demand and I'm
01:49So different areas in Karnataka, two clerics at least have come forth.
02:06Remember this is primarily from the state of Karnataka right now where these appeals
02:10have come.
02:11We'll see if this becomes a pan-India protest but this will be more of a photo opportunity
02:15unless this turns into a violent agitation.
02:18The Muslim board, the Muslim clerics are saying wear a black band and one of these clerics
02:24also showcasing it how to be done and then for the Namaz prayers where there are massive
02:29gatherings saying do not indulge in violence or sloganeering but wear it as a symbolic
02:34protest.
02:35Waqf Amendment Bill remember has been more about the arbitrary powers of the Waqf Board
02:40that have been long in question.
02:42In fact primarily it's been some of the southern states including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala
02:46where there have been complaints and concerns that have come in if the Waqf was misusing
02:51its powers over land and was leading to land grab cases but it appears some of the Muslim
02:58organisations believe that this is misuse and it's cramping down on the Muslim rights
03:03and of the Waqf Board as well which is rightful in its demands with regard to the land.
03:08So that's a big issue right now.
03:10Well remember negotiations have happened.
03:12Muslim delegations have been invited.
03:14There have been discussions from across the country with the government at the centre.
03:18There's been a process that has been followed and then this bill came to the parliament
03:23but while we've seen a showdown of it in the parliament clearly on the ground as well we
03:28can see possibly we'll wait for more visuals coming in by the afternoon.
03:33So two clerics appealing for black band to be now worn by the Muslims in protest against
03:39the Waqf Amendment Bill.
