00:00The campaign for the local candidates has already started today.

00:04That's why the Comelec launched an offland backlash against the illegal campaign materials.

00:12The PNP has also heightened the alert.

00:21On the first day of the campaign for the local candidates for the Hatol ng Bayan 2025,

00:26the Commission on Elections and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority

00:31backed the illegal campaign materials in Tayuman, Manila.

00:34This is a part of the offland backlash

00:36that has spread to the public places

00:38against the campaign materials that were leaked to the Comelec.

00:42According to Comelec Chairman George Garcia,

00:44they waited for a long time because back then,

00:46the politicians were just aspirants.

00:48But now, they are official candidates

00:51who need to obey the agencies' orders.

00:54Those who backed the campaign posters will be donated to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology

00:58for recycling.

01:00Starting tomorrow, Comelec will send a letter to the candidates

01:04to back their campaign materials that were placed in the wrong place.

01:08If they still don't obey,

01:09three days later,

01:11the Comelec will issue a show-cause order.

01:13This could result in disqualification or election offense

01:16for imprisonment of one to six years.

01:21I hope you can train the candidates

01:23on where the right place is,

01:25what should be placed,

01:27and what is the size of the campaign materials that will be placed.

01:30Because if we let it go,

01:32it will be placed anywhere.

01:34For the candidates who placed the posters on private property,

01:37Comelec ordered them to limit it to 2 by 3 meters

01:40and to use environmental-friendly materials.

01:43Comelec also urged the public to report

01:45the illegal campaign materials

01:47that can be seen in their places.

01:49Comelec will tighten the airtime

01:51or advertisements of 44,000 candidates

01:54on television, radio,

01:56and even on social media

01:58to ensure that it will be included

02:00in their Statement of Contributions

02:02and Expenditures or SOSE.

02:04Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police

02:06increased their status to Heightened Alert

02:08to ensure security

02:10in starting the campaign of the local candidates.
