00:00Three Grand Slam champions, including the world's number two, were defeated by the Philippine tennis superstar, Alex Ayala.
00:08He will now fight in the semi-finals of the Miami Open.
00:11By report, Ian Cruz.
00:14The Philippine tennis superstar, Alex Ayala, cannot be trusted when it comes to getting out of the ball.
00:21He made it to the semi-finals of the Miami Open.
00:24I think my mind was not there.
00:27My mind was still on the match and kind of thinking that it wasn't done yet.
00:32But it was, and I'm super happy that the ball went out.
00:36He did not just lose.
00:39He was the world number two and five-time Grand Slam winner, Igas Wiontek, from Poland.
00:46It's definitely an achievement that I dedicate to my country.
00:50But it's also a huge personal achievement.
00:54He won and became a guest of honor when he graduated from Rafa Nadal Academy.
01:01And Rafa himself is a former champion of Ayala.
01:05So, let's keep dreaming.
01:08It seems like Ayala's dream has come true.
01:11From the time he started as a wildcard player and the 140th in the world,
01:16he has already jumped to the world's top 75 in the ranking of the Women's Tennis Association.
01:23He also defeated the two Grand Slam winners,
01:26the 2017 French Open winner, Jelena Ostapenko,
01:30and the Australian Open champion, Madison Keyes.
01:33I'd love to give myself a pat on the back and give my team a pat on the back.
01:39But that's not the end goal.
01:41So, keep working.
01:43Ayala's discipline is unique.
01:46His first coach, coach Ronald Hoven, saw it.
01:51When he's inside the court, he's different.
01:53He's totally focused. That's the difference.
01:56His work ethics is different.
01:58He's very disciplined.
02:00Aside from the support of his family and his team,
02:02he is very thankful to the Filipinos who continue to support him.
02:07I'm so, so, so lucky to have this country, this following,
02:13and to be part of this community is something I wouldn't trade for the world.
02:18Tomorrow, Ayala will fight in the semifinals
02:22against the world number four, Jessica Pegula.
02:25All I can say is I'm so excited and I'm willing to die on the court tomorrow.
02:32Tomorrow, I'm literally willing to die on the court.
