00:00All right, big news coming in from the Kashmir valley, remember barely few years ago, separatism,
00:09secessionism, violent secessionism and of course the repercussions of that in terms
00:14of violence was all too common in Kashmir.
00:17But now it appears that separatists are also realizing which is the better way out.
00:24Two more groups earlier associated with secessionism, associated with Hurriyat groups basically
00:30just to give you a background, two more Hurriyat linked groups have taken a decision to separate
00:37from separatism.
00:39It's a play of words also I bring in here.
00:42Home Minister Amit Shah has put out a statement on that, Home Minister Amit Shah has said
00:46that valley trusts Bharat, he's also added that separatism has become history in Kashmir
00:52is what the Home Minister is claiming.
00:54So in total for now, four separatist outfits have joined mainstream.
00:59Remember this is also important because at this point it's not just about so to say becoming
01:07mainstream but also for example we had the Jamaat that participated in the elections
01:12that happened in Jammu and Kashmir assembly.
01:14So for example the Tehreek-e-Istiklal and two other groups have decided to severe ties
01:21and to severe ties and in many ways not fall for Pakistan propaganda anymore.
01:29I want to bring in Jitendra Bahadur Singh for the latest on that.
01:33He closely tracks the Home Ministry.
01:35Jitendra tell me more about what is this statement, how is Home Minister Amit Shah saying that
01:40the Hurriyat connected groups or separatism is now becoming history in Kashmir.
01:47Yes, Home Minister Amit Shah just a few days ago said in his address that the separatist
01:58activities in Kashmir are decreasing and in the last few days we have seen that the
02:04different organizations connected to Hurriyat, even today two organizations have said that
02:11they will not join with Hurriyat.
02:13Two-three days ago, we received information that they are also separating from Hurriyat.
02:18This kind of information was posted by Home Minister Amit Shah on AXE and he said that
02:27the way the separatism was increasing there, people are turning away from it.
02:34People are continuously moving towards development and we have also seen that the stone pelting
02:39or the terrorist activities that used to take place in Kashmir Ghati has also reduced a lot.
02:44The stone pelting has become close to zero.
02:47So, this way the Home Ministry is continuously working there, the security forces are also
02:52working there and it is being tried that there should be more and more development there.
02:57People who are involved in separatism should move away from it and this is what is going on.
03:02Jitendra, stay with us.
03:04Just to give you a background to the viewer, it's All Parties Hurriyat Conference which
03:08was seen as a coalition.
03:09Once strong at a point that they would release a calendar, for example, Ghilani's faction
03:14and Kashmir had to be shut.
03:17Joining me now, Mir Fareed for the latest on that.
03:19Mir Fareed, tell me about what precisely, if you have information about which are these
03:24two groups, how is Home Minister Amit Shah now saying that more and more secessionist,
03:29anti-India or separatist groups are becoming mainstream?
03:34Well, Pooja, as you know, Hurriyat Conference was a conglomerate of, or umbrella organisation
03:41of multiple small separatist organisations.
03:44Now, major ones, of course, being the party of Pir Vizumar Farooq and then you have Tehrik
03:49Hurriyat of Saeed Ali Shah Ghilani.
03:52But then there were various small constituents and it seems these two parties were one of
03:57those small constituents of the Hurriyat Conference.
03:59Now, we know after Article 370 abrogation, there was a massive crackdown against the
04:04separatist ecosystem.
04:05Top leaders were arrested, rag and pile was taken care of, offices ceased and separatism
04:11or separatist activity came to a grinding halt.
04:14And just two days back, the Jammu and Kashmir police once again started that crackdown with
04:19raids on separatists and their sympathisers.
04:24Now it seems that all that, all that pressure and then to add to that the kind of peace
04:29that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed and especially Kashmir in the last four, five
04:33years with the stone pelting coming to zero, militancy-related incidents at their lowest
04:38level.
04:39So obviously it seems that all those things have inspired these small constituents and
04:43they have decided to part ways with the Hurriyat Conference and generally as far as parting
04:49ways with separatist ideologies are concerned.
04:52So obviously Amit Shah, Home Minister, taking credit because most of it has been done by
04:58the Home Minister.
04:59He has pledged allegations to the security forces, to various agencies.
05:00As you are telling us, yes, one Tehreek-e-Istiklal is what we are picking up and also J&K Freedom
05:08Movement, J&K FM have given out statements.
05:11Remember, that means a lot of back-channel talks and strategies have been used over the
05:15past few years to ensure ideologically also these groups can be, can become mainstream.
05:21But let's also remember that it must be a continued progress and in the days to come
05:27also the government must ensure its focus on Kashmir and not just simply sit and feel
05:32that all is well in the valley.
05:34Fareed and Jitendra, thank you very much for now.
