00:00So this has been in train for a number of years and obviously during Covid no building work
00:05could happen so I'm really pleased to see that it's going up in such rapid fashion.
00:09The team here at Wilmot Dixon is doing a fantastic job along with our estates
00:13partners and colleagues. This will be a new police station for the whole of Pendle so Nelson
00:18and Cone police stations will be closing. The staff there will be sited and based here and
00:23we'll be able to offer a really good response both to our immediate and emergency incidents
00:29but also to our neighbourhoods right across the whole of Pendle. It's a really exciting
00:33opportunity for us. I was on this site several years ago when there was nothing here whatsoever
00:39when we were looking at various sites within Pendle for the new police station. It was pretty
00:46much like an empty site then. I remember coming once when there was actually a travelling circus
00:51on this site so you know it completely kind of changed and to see what we see behind us now,
00:58developing you know every time you come past here it's developed a little bit more.
01:03Will there be access to the public as well? Absolutely so there'll be a front counter here,
01:07plenty of parking out front for people to come down. It's just outside of Nelson Town Centre,
01:12it's not too far away for people to be able to get to so a really accessible job both for the
01:15public of Pendle but also to our officers and staff. How many people will be based in the
01:20building? That's a good question, it changes all the time but probably roughly 125 officers will
01:27be here along with our crime scene investigator colleagues, a really good state-of-the-art
01:31facility for them to be able to do their really groundbreaking work. So everything under one roof
01:36essentially? Exactly and that just builds a real good team cohesiveness and spirit and we're hoping
01:41this will be something beyond 2020 and go well into the future and become the basis of what
01:46police stations should feel like look like in the future. At the moment we've got the Nelson
01:50and Cone police stations that aren't really fit for purpose with modern policing, spending good
01:58money on the maintenance of those and at some point a decision had to be made about whether
02:04that was the best use of resources or whether we should bite the bullet, invest more but have a
02:10station that is fit for purpose, a good station for police officers to work out of but something
02:18that is accessible to the public.
