00:00You helped me, by erasing my mind, what invaded memories I had!
00:08Hey, hello and welcome to WatchMojo Español.
00:10I am G, and today we will show you our top 10 of the casting decisions that were wrong when choosing a certain actor or actress.
00:18We are not saying that these artists are bad, but their performances did not meet the high expectations that surrounded the role.
00:26We will not include any case of cultural appropriation such as Mikey Rooney in Breakfast at Tiffany's, for example.
00:44Number 10. Jay Courtney as Kyle Reese.
00:47What makes you any different?
00:51You know why.
00:52It is difficult for actors to assume a role that was also played in the past.
00:56The pressure to make Kyle Reese as memorable as the 1984 version played by Michael Biehn was great,
01:05but in this 2015 movie full of stars, Courtney is short.
01:10Fans remember Reese as brave, intense and interesting to watch, especially in the original version.
01:17When he returns in Terminator Genisys, Courtney's performance is rancid,
01:22her chemistry with Sarah Connor does not exist and we never believe that this was the same character we saw all those years ago.
01:40The bar was high and unfortunately he was not able to reach it.
01:49Number 9. Cameron Diaz as Jenny Everton, Gangs of New York.
02:01Cameron Diaz is an actress with undeniable talent, but when she acts with other talented actors in Gangs of New York,
02:08it is difficult to leave a lasting impression.
02:10Her character is the unforgettable, one-dimensional and inconsistent Jenny,
02:14who has a weak chemistry with her co-protagonists and is less dynamic than those around her.
02:20You got the sand to give them a grand finale?
02:32Maybe when you're aiming a little straighter.
02:36She also has to act with Leonardo DiCaprio and Daniel Day-Lewis, who offer exceptional performances.
02:42Diaz is perfect for the funny romantic comedies in which we normally see her
02:47and even for heartbreaking dramas, but working with Martin Scorsese could not be her thing.
03:03Number 8. Julia Roberts as Mary Reilly, Mary Reilly.
03:08I thought if you would like to examine these scars.
03:14It's the year 1996.
03:16Julia Roberts is well established as a credible actress and a protagonist who can steal the screen.
03:22She has already been in Steel Magnolias and Pretty Woman.
03:25That's why it's quite shocking to see her in the main role of this gothic horror movie.
03:30Aren't we finding enough work for you?
03:32I could do it on my afternoons off.
03:34Many think that in the best of cases she is not convincing and in the worst she is completely inadequate for the role.
03:41Her Irish accent leaves something to be desired and is not able to transmit the seriousness or moral complexity that is needed for this role.
03:49To be fair, the whole movie was a failure both in the critics and in the box office, but we don't think we should blame her entirely.
04:05Number 7. Russell Crowe as Javert, the Miserable.
04:20This is not the first time that Russell Crowe plays the bad guy.
04:23Either the hero or the villain is usually convincing.
04:26But his role in this musical film is a strange choice.
04:30There are some problems that contribute to it not being a good choice.
04:34The musical performances in The Miserable are impressive.
04:38Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman stole the show in that sense.
04:42Crowe's musical ability, however, is not up to the task.
05:01In addition, Javert's character is infinitely severe and authoritarian, which motivates Jan Valjean to elude him.
05:08Crowe's performance lacks the intensity necessary for this tension to be convincing,
05:14which ultimately affects the dynamics between two of the most important characters in the film.
05:31Number 6. Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sully, Sullivan, Uncharted.
05:42We all know that Mark Wahlberg is a great choice for a protagonist in an action movie, but it doesn't fit in this profile.
05:49The adaptation of Robin Fleischer of the popular game had users from all over the world excited,
05:55but the casting left everyone confused and disappointed.
05:58In the video games, Sully is much older than Mark Wahlberg and is portrayed as a wise mentor of young Nathan Drake.
06:16Wahlberg's performance is more of an older brother to whom Drake is not sure he can trust,
06:21and is not as endearing as the character in the video game.
06:25With a sequel in the horizon, we will see if Wahlberg improves in the embodiment of the characteristics we expect to see in Sully.
06:37Number 5. Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Batman v Superman, Dawn of Justice.
06:42Well then, we don't have to depend upon the kindness of monsters.
06:47Jesse Eisenberg is better known for roles as Mark Zuckerberg in Social Network and J.J. Neill Atlas in the franchise Now You See Me.
06:56In these roles he normally speaks softly and is ingenious, so seeing him play a supervillain is disconcerting, to say the least.
07:05His behavior is neither scary nor villainous, since Lex Luthor is calmer, more powerful and charming.
07:13Although Eisenberg as Luthor could have been a new version of a known character, it was disconcerting.
07:19He is not considered as threatening or unpleasant as to leave a lasting impression.
07:24In general, this casting was a failure.
07:35Number 4. Mila Kunis as Theodora, the evil witch of the West, Us, The Great and Powerful.
07:52Mila Kunis is known mainly for her comic roles, starting in That 70s Show, before appearing in movies like Ted and the Batman franchise.
08:00She is perfect for happy, funny or romantic roles, that's why seeing her as a villain is a bit surprising.
08:06It doesn't coincide exactly with the appearance of this infamous witch and her behavior is not as scary as the original witch.
08:13Besides, her makeup and prosthesis are not convincing.
08:22And her witch voice is also deficient.
08:25For such an iconic role, the casting is crucial.
08:28And they didn't do it with Kunis.
08:39Number 3. Dane Dejan as Valerian and Cara Delevingne as Laureline.
08:44Valerian and The City of a Thousand Planets.
08:47What can I do to make it up to you?
08:49Beginning descends in three minutes.
08:52Nothing that you can get done in three minutes.
08:55Taking into account that this is the most expensive independent film ever made,
08:59one would think that they would work very hard to ensure that the cast was the right one.
09:04However, not only the male protagonist was not the most convincing choice,
09:08but the female protagonist is also short.
09:11Both actors do not reach the emotional depth necessary for Valerian and Laureline.
09:24As this film is based on a comic series, the fans knew what they wanted to see from the two protagonists.
09:30Not only do they not coincide with the physical descriptions, but they lack chemistry.
09:34And ultimately, this leads to the fall of this film.
09:38For Dejan, the problem is his lack of charisma and charm.
09:41For Delevingne, it is his lack of experience in roles like this.
09:54Number 2. Taffer Grace as Edward Eddie Brock Jr.
09:58Venom. Spider-Man 3.
10:08Why does a main character in That 70s Show play a villain?
10:13The third film in the Spider-Man trilogy by Sam Raimi is full of memorable characters.
10:18In a collection of talented actors who are chosen correctly,
10:22Taffer Grace stands out and not in the good sense.
10:29Physically he is not made for the role and his performance is not as fun as we would like.
10:34The actor usually plays calm and fun characters.
10:37To say that this choice of delivery is a strange choice is to be short.
10:42In a later version of the character,
10:44Sam Hardy addresses the role with the right amount of intensity and terror necessary to be believable.
10:49We are happy that the character has been redeemed.

11:08Very well, let's see our position number 1.
11:11Number 1. Sofia Coppola as Mary Corleone. The Godfather Part 3.
11:22After Julia Roberts and Wayne Ono Ryder left the project,
11:26Francis Ford Coppola asked his daughter to play Mary Corleone.
11:30Even before the internet turned Nepo Baby into a meme,
11:34this choice of delivery was considered a mistake.
11:44The two actresses who were originally chosen are powers in the world of cinema.
11:49Needless to say that Coppola had to fill some very large shoes.
11:53At that time he had little experience in acting, which was evidenced in the film of this magnitude.
11:58His presence ended up reducing the quality of the film.
12:01We believe that, like his father, he is better behind the camera than in front of it.
12:19Which actor do you think is terribly badly chosen for a role? Tell us in the comments.
