00:00Well, so far, all we've known about the film Rust is that Alec Baldwin shot and killed
00:06his cinematographer behind the scenes when making it, but we haven't actually seen any
00:11trailers of what the product looks like.
00:14Because they finished the movie.
00:15Yeah, we know it's a Western.
00:17We know in a Western there's lots of shooting, obviously, but now we're getting our first
00:21look at the trailer.
00:22So we got to say, though, how do you promote this movie knowing the backdrop?
00:27Do you lean into the intrigue of it all?
00:31Do you stay away from it?
00:33I mean, there are choices you make here, and clearly they've made a choice.
00:37The only order that exists in this world is the order we impose.
00:43If a man loses sight of that, he's got nothing.
00:49Some things in this life you can't get back, I reckon.
00:58Haven't anybody known, neither one of us.
01:01Some things in this life you can't get back, I reckon.
01:04You can't get back, I reckon.
01:05Like shooting and killing the cinematographer.
01:07Well, no, no, no.
01:08That's...
01:09It's not fair to...
01:10I mean, that's the intimation.
01:11But that's the choice you make.
01:13That's the line of him that you have there on the trailer.
01:16You could pick any line from the movie.
01:17They so leaned into this.
01:19I mean, it's a Western movie, guys.
01:20I mean, obviously, there's going to be a lot of violence and shooting, and I mean, to me,
01:26I watched the trailer.
01:27Obviously, terrible what happened to her.
01:29But the movie looks good.
01:30Like, I actually am interested in seeing this movie.
01:32Are you interested because of what you know already?
01:34No, I'm interested because, honestly, the trailer just makes it look like a pretty good Western movie.
01:39Obviously, I think there's going to be a lot of people who are going to be tuning in just to see if...
01:44Because we obviously all know of the scene he shot in the church.
01:47And I'm curious, as just a viewer, just to see if they're going to be including that in the final cut.
01:52But see, then you are interested in the backdrop of this.
01:55Well, I'm interested in the backdrop, but I think even people who don't know the background of what happened here
02:01will see this trailer and be like, oh, it looks like a good movie.
02:04Helena Hutchins is listed as the cinematographer.
02:07Bianca Klein stepped in as the cinematographer afterwards.
02:11Her husband also listed as an EP on the film.
02:14Well, the EP role that the husband got was part of the settlement against Alec Baldwin and the company that made the movie.
02:21But I just find it really interesting, because you're right.
02:24I mean, look, those lines telegraph something.
02:28And it feels like we are all talking about the tragedy on set.
02:34I mean, I get it that they're pushing a movie, and maybe this is the way to push a movie.
02:39But, man, they make you remember.
02:42Is there part of you that thought that this movie would never come out?
02:45I thought so at first, but then I know they finished it.
02:48See, I didn't think they'd finish filming.
02:50And when they did, I mean, it seemed like, yeah, they're going to.
02:53What's going to be fascinating is this is going to be in theaters in May.
02:57May 2nd.
02:58So they're already pushing it, and we're still in March.
03:00So they're going to be pushing this for a month.
03:03And I'm going to be fascinated to know if this tragedy translates into box office.
03:09And because if it was like a streaming film, they could hide how it does better.
03:14Right, right.
03:15But in the box office, you're going to get a number.
03:18Right.
03:19And so we're going to know if this is a big number or a small number.
03:21You guys also mentioned, though, her husband is the E.P. of it.
03:24So does that make you think, like, hey, if the husband's on board with doing the movie, then why not her father?
03:29No, but her parents are not.
03:31Well, no, no, no.
03:32But the husband's complicated, because even after the husband took the E.P. role,
03:36he seemed to side with the prosecutor in the manslaughter case against Alec Baldwin.
03:44So even though he took the role as part of a settlement, it seemed like there was still bad blood.
03:49And her parents are represented by Gloria Allred, and they're against a lot of this.
03:53So there's clearly some division within the family.
03:56It will be interesting, really interesting, like you said, to see how this movie does.
04:02Hi, it's Gabriela from California.
04:04This movie's definitely going to get people talking, whether people watch for the Western action or just for sheer curiosity.
04:12After all that drama, rest is finally making its way to the screen.
04:17The show must go on.
04:18You want to see it?
04:19Absolutely. Out of sheer curiosity, though.
04:22I just have a feeling this is going to do better than anybody expected.
