US President Trump met with US Ambassadors at the White House and addressed a security lapse involving a journalist being added to a classified Yemen military chat. Trump downplayed concerns, saying, “It's just something that can happen.” The incident raised questions about internal security measures in the administration.

00:00We're going to have a little session today on the ambassadors.
00:04It's a group of people that were selected.
00:06They're doing very well.
00:08They're very far along in the process.
00:11And they're going to each introduce themselves and talk about the country that they're going
00:16to.
00:17They might say a little bit about themselves also, because people are very interested in
00:22that.
00:23We're also going to sign, right now, some executive orders.
00:25And, Will, if you come — would come forward.
00:27Yes, sir.
00:28And I'll start thinking about signing them.
00:31Mike?
00:32A few things for you today, sir.
00:34First, we have a pardon for Devin Archer.
00:37Devin Archer was a former business partner of the Biden family.
00:41He's — was prosecuted relating to a fraud investigation, but notably, the tone and tenor
00:48of that prosecution changed dramatically after he began to cooperate with congressional investigators
00:54and serve as a witness against Hunter Biden and the Biden family.
00:59We believe that was an injustice, and therefore, we're asking you to pardon him.
01:04And many people have asked me to do this.
01:06I think he was treated very unfairly.
01:08And I looked at the records, studied the records, and he was — he was a victim of a crime,
01:15as far as I'm concerned.
01:17So we're going to undo that.
01:29All right.
01:34Devin Archer.
01:36Congratulations, Devin.
01:38Next, sir, we have a presidential memorandum for your attention.
01:43This memorandum requires the immediate declassification of all FBI files relating to the Crossfire
01:49Hurricane investigation.
01:50This was obviously one of the instances of the weaponization of law enforcement powers
01:55of prosecution against you and others.
01:57We believe that it's long past time for the American people to have a full and complete
02:01understanding of what exactly is in those files.
02:05Which gives the media the right to go in and go and check it.
02:09You probably won't bother because you're not going to like what you see.
02:12But this was total weaponization.
02:15It's a disgrace.
02:16It never happened in this country.
02:17But now you'll be able to see for yourselves, all declassified.
02:22Is that correct?
02:23Would you say?
02:24All declassified?
02:25Yes, sir.
02:26Everything?
02:27Yes, sir.
02:28There's a classified annex.
02:29But other than that, we'll put everything in the public eye.
02:37Is anybody going to look?
02:38Huh?
02:39What about you?
02:40Are you going to look?
02:46And frankly, the FBI should be ashamed of themselves.
02:49And so should the Department of Justice.
02:52And so should Biden.
02:54Okay?
02:55Next, sir.
02:56We have an executive order for your attention.
02:58We've taken action against a number of law firms that have participated either in the
03:02weaponization of government, the weaponization of the legal system for political ends, or
03:07have otherwise engaged in illegal or inappropriate activities.
03:11The law firm of Jenner and Block is one of these law firms.
03:14This is a law firm that, as you know, employed Andrew Weissman after he came off of the Mueller
03:19investigation.
03:21It's a law firm that's engaged in invidious racially and sexually discriminatory practices.
03:26It's also a law firm that has participated in the weaponization of the legal system against
03:31American principles and values.
03:32And we believe that the measures in this executive order will help help correct that.
03:38And Andrew Weissman is the main culprit with respect to this firm.
03:44He is one of a number of reasons that we believe this executive order is warranted.
03:48He's a bad guy.
04:07Next, sir, we have an executive order for your attention relating, actually, to government
04:12payments.
04:13Historically, checks issued by the Treasury are, I believe, 14 times more likely to become
04:18the subject of fraud than electronic transfer payments.
04:22This is an executive order that's going to push the Treasury Department to modernize
04:26its payment system to ensure that, where possible, they're using electronic methods of payment
04:32as opposed to paper checks in order to reduce waste, fraud, and abuse in the government,
04:37which is obviously an endeavor that we've been pursuing in numerous aspects of government
04:41under your leadership.
04:42It's basically modernization of equipment and methods, and it's something that really
04:50I think he's going to be a great Secretary of the Treasury wanted, Scott, and so we're
04:55doing this.
04:56And we have other modernization programs going on.
04:59We could let somebody else, whoever's next, whoever that may be, do it, but it's something
05:04that should have been done 25, 30 years ago.
05:11Okay.
05:12Well, on a similar line, sir, this is an executive order.
05:29We're calling it Protecting America's Bank Account.
05:31The basic idea here is that instead of having lots of different departments and agencies
05:36and offices issuing payment, often without justification, often without any provided
05:40rationale, we're going to be centraling payment processes, where possible, in the Department
05:45of the Treasury and ensuring that measures are taken in Treasury against waste, fraud,
05:49and abuse to ensure that money that's leaving the public treasury is as protected as it
05:54possibly can be.
05:55All right.
05:56Good.
05:57Many of these things should have taken place decades ago or longer.
06:17Lastly, sir, we have an executive order for your attention on the very important subject
06:23of election integrity.
06:25We believe that this executive order is the farthest-reaching executive action taken in
06:31the history of the republic to secure our elections.
06:35Among numerous other aspects of this executive order, this is going to cut down on illegal
06:41immigrants on the voter rolls, ensure that the Department of Homeland Security and the
06:45data that they have available is being fully weaponized to ensure that illegal immigrants
06:49aren't voting.
06:51This will include a citizenship question on the federal voting form for the first time.
06:56This executive order instructs the EAC to cut federal funding to states that don't take
07:01reasonable steps to secure their election.
07:04This calls on the Department of Justice to vigorously prosecute election crimes, particularly
07:08in states that we don't believe are in compliance with federal law around election integrity.
07:14I could go on and on for a while, sir, but compliance with National Election Day rules,
07:20tracking down and investigating and prosecuting foreign interference in our elections, revoking
07:25President Biden's Executive Order 14019, which essentially weaponized government to corrupt
07:32and pollute our election process.
07:34There's a lot in here, but we believe that these are very important steps that we need
07:38to be taking as an administration in your direction to ensure that our elections are
07:42as secure as they possibly can be.
07:45Okay?
07:46You all understand that?
07:48Yes?
07:49Election fraud.
07:50You've heard the term.
07:51We'll end it, hopefully.
07:52At least, this will go a long way toward ending it.
07:59There are other steps that we will be taking in the next — in the coming weeks, and we
08:03think we'll be able to end up getting fair elections.
08:09Perhaps some people think I shouldn't be complaining because we won in a landslide,
08:14but we've got to straighten out our election.
08:17This country is so sick because of the election — the fake elections and the ban elections.
08:22And we're going to straighten it out one way or the other.
08:31And it's an honor to sign this one — to sign all of them, but to sign this one is a great honor.
08:45Excuse me.
08:46Thank you very much.
08:47Sorry, sir.
08:48So, we're going to go around the room a little bit, quickly, and we're going to introduce
08:51these very outstanding people.
08:52They've had, in all cases, outstanding careers.
08:57They're very incredible people that are going along as rapidly as the system can go along.
09:03We're ahead of, I guess, anybody else thus far, so I want to thank John Thune.
09:09He's done a very good job, and the whole Senate — we're being delayed as much as possible
09:15by Democrats, but that's standard.
09:18It gets to be just standard.
09:20But the process is moving along very quickly.
09:23So, Sergio, just say hello, and then we'll introduce everybody.
09:27Absolutely.
09:28Sergio Gurum, Director of Presidential Personnel.
09:29It's been an absolute pleasure, again, to know every one of you, every step this way.
09:33As the President said, we're at a record pace.
09:36We have more nominees today from the Senate than at any previous point, over 70, and that's
09:41a record in two months.
09:42And we're proud of that, and we're determined to ensure the world has America's first patriots
09:47in all of our posts.
09:48John?
09:49Charles Kushner.
09:50I'm going to France and Monaco, and I'm proud to serve under the greatest President of our
09:57country.
09:58Very proud to serve.
10:00Thank you, John.
10:01James Blair.
10:02Honored to work here in the White House as Deputy Chief of Staff.
10:04And, Mr. President, I think that all of these successful people would want to go serve the
10:08United States under your leadership as a testament to your vision and leadership.
10:12Thank you, James.
10:13I'm David Perdue.
10:14I'm going to the People's Republic of China, and it's my honor to represent President Trump,
10:18the people of America, and represent our interests and values in China.
10:23I'm Leah Campos.
10:24I'm going to represent the President in the Dominican Republic.

10:33I look forward to working with every one of you on behalf of the President, his leadership,
10:36and the American people.
10:38John Arrigo.
10:39I am going to the Republic of Portugal, and I'm very excited to do so and serve our – where
10:44I can serve one of my closest friends and one of the best Presidents this country has
10:48ever had.
10:50Kevin Cabrera.
10:51I'm nominated to be Ambassador to Panama, and it truly is an honor, President, to be
10:52part of your administration.
10:54Tom Barak.
10:55Nominee to the Republic of Turkey.
10:56Delighted and honored to be with you, Mr. President.
10:57And that host country, which is one of the most ancient in civilization, is in search
11:07for your peace, prosperity, and security program.
11:11Good place.
11:12Mr. President.
11:13Good leader, too.
11:14Yeah.
11:15Mr. President, thank you.
11:16It's an honor.
11:17I'm Pete Hoekstra.
11:18You know that.
11:19But I am going to Canada.
11:21I look forward to serving you in Canada and your agenda.
11:24And you're doing a great job.
11:29Bob Johnson, sir.
11:31Thank you for the nomination to represent you and the United States to the United Mexican
11:36States.
11:37And I'm really encouraged by some of the conversations you've had with President Shane Baum recently
11:42and to the increase in support that we've seen of her government along our border on
11:48important issues.
11:49So thank you, sir.
11:50They have stepped it up a lot.
11:51Yes, sir.
11:52Mexico and Canada.
11:53So see how it works.
11:54Right?
11:55Yes, sir.
11:56Excellent.
11:57Matt Whitaker from Des Moines, Iowa.
11:59I'm proud to, as soon as I'm confirmed,
12:01go represent you at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
12:06George Glass, on my way to Japan.
12:09Previous administration, I served for you in Portugal.
12:12It is a great honor to be able to do this a second time.
12:15Thank you for the opportunity.
12:17Thank you, George.
12:18President Trump, my name is Ken Howery.
12:20I'm your nominee to be ambassador
12:21of the Kingdom of Denmark, a very close partner and ally.
12:25I served for you last time for the Kingdom of Sweden.
12:27I want to thank you for the faith
12:29you place in me as your nominee to Denmark.
12:31Thank you. Thank you very much.
12:33President Trump, thank you for the honor of a lifetime.
12:35My name is Stacey Feinberg,
12:37and hopefully I'll have the honor of serving in Luxembourg.
12:41And I think this is the greatest presidency
12:43and the greatest time in history,
12:45and it's all because of you.
12:46Thank you very much.
12:48Nicole McGraw, nominated to serve in Croatia,
12:50and it's such an honor to be here with you today
12:52and to serve you in the American people.
12:55Thank you. Thank you very much.
12:57President Trump, thank you very much for your nomination
12:59to the Republic of Chile.
13:01And let me tell you, Border Patrol agents
13:03are so thankful for everything that you've done for them.
13:06That man knows more about the border
13:08than anybody I'm going to tell you.
13:10Thank you. The President, it's a great honor.
13:11Thank you very much. Thanks, Jim.
13:13Good luck. Good afternoon, Mr. President.
13:14Brian Birch, if I'm confirmed,
13:15I'll be representing you at the Holy See.
13:18Catholics are very proud of your work.
13:20Your team is doing excellent jobs,
13:21so thank you. Very honored to serve.
13:23Thank you very much.
13:25Mr. President, thank you again for the honor.
13:27The greatest privilege. My name is Summer Sparkis.
13:31I will serve this great man at the Republic of Malta.
13:35Thank you, sir. Thank you, Mr. President.
13:37Joe Popolo from Dallas, Texas.
13:38Very proud to serve you at the Kingdom of the Netherlands,

13:45Thank you. Thank you.
13:46Mr. President, if I'm confirmed,
13:48I will be representing you in the state of Israel.
13:50It will be an extraordinary honor.
13:52And you've done more for Israel than any President
13:55in any time of its history, and we are grateful.
13:59And I'm hoping I'll get to be there by Passover.
14:02Thank you, Mike. And Mike is an outstanding guy.
14:06We all are. They all are.
14:07Mike, I think he's going to do wonders for Israel.
14:12He actually probably gets along with both sides,
14:14and that'll be interesting to see.
14:16But the world is watching you, Mike, so good luck.
14:19Thank you, Mr. President.
14:20Good luck. You're going to do well.
14:22Thank you very much.
14:23Mr. President, thank you for this great honor
14:26to serve the Republic of Italy and San Marino.
14:31I'm so looking forward to going over there
14:32and working with that great ally,
14:34and for the pleasure of serving you.
14:36Your staff has been great working with us
14:38and have done a great job, and we really appreciate them.
14:41Thank you, sir, for pushing this along.
14:44You're going to have a good time.
14:47A really good time.
14:48I'm Warren Stevens from Little Rock, Arkansas,
14:54and I have the honor to represent the President
14:58and the United States in Great Britain and Northern Ireland,
15:03and to be chosen to go to such an important ally of ours.
15:08This is fun. I know it's fun.
15:10I'm looking forward to it, but thank you for the honor.
15:14You're going to do fantastically.
15:15These are tremendously successful people,
15:19and you two guys, and then you add on Mike.
15:23I think they have a little more money than Mike,
15:25but he's got some other advantages.
15:28He's got some other — like, upstairs,
15:31he's got some big advantages.
15:34It's very exciting.
15:35It's really exciting to have all of you.
15:37Would you have any questions, media,
15:39for the people that you just saw?
15:45So outstanding, and I thought it would be nice
15:47to bring them before you.
15:48And so, if you have any questions, please.
15:50The Press. I wanted to ask about the talks in Saudi Arabia.
15:54It sounds like you made some progress on a Black Sea ceasefire.
15:57Yeah.
15:58Could you update us on that? What happens now?
16:01So, we've made a lot of progress on two fronts —
16:03on both sections that we call them.
16:05We call them sections, but they're much more than that.
16:09Russia, Ukraine, and also the Middle East.
16:11And we'll see what happens.
16:14We're in deep discussions with Russia and Ukraine.
16:18And I would say it's going well, but it's a very —
16:21it's a situation we should have never had to even think about.
16:23It should have never happened.
16:25And on the Middle East,
16:27that's been going on for a lot of years.
16:31Centuries and centuries. It just keeps going.
16:34And we are making a lot of progress,
16:36so it's all I can report.
16:37But some very, very big talks are going —
16:40and detailed talks are going on right now on both fronts.
16:43Mr. President, you said that your National Security Advisor
16:45learned a lesson after a reporter —
16:47Excuse me, I didn't make it. Go ahead.
16:49Mr. President, the ceasefire agreement
16:51that was brokered today
16:53allows for third-party countries
16:55to help implement the agreement.
16:57What does that look like, and who's going to be involved?
16:59The ceasefire agreement?
17:00Yes, the maritime ceasefire agreement
17:01between Russia and Ukraine.
17:04Well, they're going to get together.
17:05Look, it's — they agreed to something, and it got broken.
17:10There's tremendous animosity.
17:11There's a lot of hatred, as you can probably tell.
17:15And it allows for people to get together,
17:17mediate it, arbitrate it, and see if we can get it stopped.
17:20And I think it will. They'll get it stopped.
17:22What countries are you looking to work with, sir,
17:24to help implement and monitor that ceasefire?
17:25We have other countries involved,
17:27and they're involved very strongly in the process.
17:29And the — that'll be resolved.
17:32That's — actually, as bad as it is,
17:34that's the least of the problems.
17:35So, that will — we'll get that resolved.
17:38And we are being aided by other countries, too.
17:42Yes, please.
17:43Yes. Tomorrow, the subcommittee on DOJ
17:46is going to review funding for NPR and PBS.
17:50Now, every Republican President has always promised
17:54to take away this money
17:56that's going to these two public news outlets.
18:01If this — if they're successful —
18:04no, Senator Kennedy has backed it,
18:05Marjorie Taylor Greene in Congress has backed it.
18:07Would you be interested in defunding
18:10and taking away taxpayer dollars to NPR and PBS?
18:15Well, I would love to do that. I think it's very unfair.
18:17It's been very biased with a whole group.
18:19I mean, a whole group of them.
18:22And, frankly, there's plenty of —
18:23look at all the media you have right now.
18:25There's plenty of coverage. Those are from a different age.
18:28And they spend more money than any other network
18:31of its type ever conceived.
18:34So the kind of money that's being wasted —
18:36and it's a very biased view.
18:38You know that better than anybody.
18:40And I'd be honored to see it end. We're well covered.
18:45Look at all the people that we have here today.
18:47We're well covered, and we don't need it.
18:49And it's a waste of money, especially —
18:52I don't even know what DOJ's recommendation is.
18:54I assume their recommendation is to close them up.
18:57Well, after they hear all the testimony,
18:59I think they're going to make a decision
19:01relatively sooner than later.
19:03But we'll see what that turns out to be.
19:05I can't imagine that they wouldn't,
19:07because they have found so much waste, fraud,
19:10and abuse — hundreds of billions of dollars.
19:13And just waste, fraud, abuse.
19:15You heard yesterday some of the new things that were found.
19:19Twenty-two billion just in environmental — billion.
19:22You know, if you had 22 million, Warren, it would be nice.
19:25But 22 billion put into environmental accounts.
19:28One was 2 billion into one account —
19:30Stacey Abrams, where they had $100 in the account.
19:34And just before I came in, they put $2 billion.
19:38And you guys are looking.
19:39So you mean 2 million, or maybe 200,000.
19:42No, $2 billion were put in the account.
19:45What do you think of that, Mike?
19:46Do you think that's a straight deal?
19:48Two billion?
19:49The Press Just write me the check, Mr. President.
19:51I'll be happy to visit.
19:52The President It's just — it's a horrible thing.
19:54And we have so many of those things.
19:56So they've done an incredible job.
19:58The country wants to hear it.
20:00I think DOJ is actually very popular
20:02because of what's happening.
20:03They're hearing about all of these scams
20:05and for big, big money. Tremendous amount.
20:08And when you add it up,
20:10just hundreds of billions of dollars being wasted.
20:14And much of it is fraud. You know, we talk about waste.
20:17And it is waste and abuse, but a lot of it is fraud, too.
20:20The Press Can I follow up on something?
20:21The President Yeah, go ahead, Brian.
20:22The Press Oh, I just want to follow up on that.
20:24If Planned Parenthood is defunded,
20:28would you look into the harvesting of baby organs
20:31that they've done throughout the years
20:34and maybe go after some criminal prosecution on that?
20:37The President Well, I think you're talking about a subject
20:40that is a heated subject, and we'll look into it.
20:43We're going to look into everything.
20:44But that's certainly a subject
20:46that's been debated for a long time,
20:48and we will look into it. Yeah.
20:50The Press Mr. President, some senators
20:53have expressed hope that the White House
20:54would support a rescission package
20:56to codify some of the DOJ cuts into law.
20:58Where does the White House stand on that?
21:00And are you making progress on that?
21:01The President Which package?
21:02The Press A rescission package to codify
21:04some of the DOJ cuts into law.
21:06The President You know what? It would be great.
21:07I think we're going to do that. I think they're going to do it.
21:09I think we're also going to be codifying
21:12a lot of the executive orders that we've done,
21:14which have been very popular.
21:16And we're looking at one, I will tell you right now,
21:18that I think perhaps will be controversial,
21:21but not with the people, and that's sanctuary cities.
21:24We're going to end sanctuary cities
21:25for some of these jurisdictions
21:28that aren't cooperating with law enforcement.
21:32They're guarding criminals.
21:34They're taking the rights away from the citizens
21:38of this state and this city.
21:39And we're going to be ending sanctuary cities
21:42if we find it necessary to do in certain major areas.
21:46And we may just end the entire thing altogether
21:49because it's just a way of protecting criminals,
21:52and nobody else is benefited by that.
21:54And for some reason, Democrats want to keep
21:57and they want to shield criminals
21:58from being sent back to their countries
22:00or being sent to prison.
22:02And in the meantime, the crime rate
22:04has gone through the roof.
22:06Under Biden, it was through the roof.
22:07It's starting to come down,
22:09but we're taking a lot of people out of here.
22:11So we may be presenting you very shortly
22:14with an executive order ending sanctuary cities.
22:19Mr. President, are you going to change
22:20any of the practices
22:21that your national security officials used
22:23after a reporter was inadvertently added
22:25to a group chat about attacks on Yemen?
22:29Well, I think it's a question I've been asked now,
22:33and I've given a few answers, and they've all been the same.
22:36We have an amazing group.
22:38Our national security now is stronger than it's ever been.
22:41We have had a very, very successful,
22:44numerous attacks on that area.
22:47These are people that shoot down ships,
22:49not only our ships, ships all over the world.
22:51They're shooting down right out of the water
22:53and damaging them badly, or they're going down.
22:56They're also shooting anything
22:57that happens to be flying in the area.
22:59We hit them very, very hard.
23:02There was no classified information, as I understand it.
23:06They used a app, if you want to call it an app,
23:11that a lot of people use.
23:12A lot of people in government use.
23:13A lot of people in the media use.
23:15And I think I'll ask Mike.
23:17Mike is here. Do you want to respond to that, please?
23:20Yes, Mr. President. You asked about lessons.
23:22I think there's a lot of lessons.
23:23There's a lot of journalists in this city
23:26who have made big names for themselves,
23:28making up lies about this President,
23:31whether it's the Russia hoax
23:33or making up lies about Gold Star families.
23:35And this one in particular, I've never met,
23:37don't know, never communicated with.
23:39And we are looking into and reviewing
23:43how the heck he got into this room.
23:45But I'll tell you what.
23:46The world owes President Trump a favor.
23:49Under Biden, global shipping was shut down.
23:52Pinprick attacks, months between them,
23:54our destroyers being fired upon dozens of times.
23:58President Trump took decisive action
24:01with his national security team,
24:03took out the head missileer, knocked out missiles,
24:06knocked out headquarters, knocked out communication sites.
24:09And for once, as we hear, as you will all hear
24:13from every one of our allies,
24:15thank God for American leadership again.
24:17Thank God for American strength.
24:20You're a welcome one. You're a welcome one.
24:23And look, we have a national security team
24:26that was coordinating these efforts,
24:28as Director Radcliffe testified today.
24:32His first day on the job, he was introduced to this app
24:35on his government systems at the CIA
24:38and at the State Department and otherwise.
24:40So, look, this journalist, Mr. President,
24:44wants the world talking about more hoaxes
24:47and this kind of nonsense,
24:48rather than the freedom that you're enabling.
24:51And a key part of our sovereignty is open sea lanes
24:54and knocking the crap out of terrorists,
24:56which is exactly what your team and Pete Hegseth,
24:59a good friend and fellow veteran,
25:01is leading the charge on. And it's an honor.
25:02The President.
25:03The President.
25:05The President We had a very, very successful evening.
25:08And we've had numerous successful evenings
25:11and days in that area.
25:12The Houthis are absolutely on the run.
25:15The worst of them have been killed.
25:18This should have been done a long time ago by Biden,
25:21but Biden was an incompetent President.
25:23He couldn't do anything.
25:24He didn't know where he was going.
25:26He had no clue. This guy had no clue.
25:28This should have been done a long time ago
25:30as they shoot missiles at ships,
25:32randomly shoot missiles at ships.
25:35And they make their own missiles.
25:37This is not an incompetent group of people.
25:39They make their own missiles.
25:40They get the missiles also from Iran.
25:43It's an offshoot of Iran, another offshoot.
25:45You have Hamas, you have Hezbollah, you have the Houthis.
25:49You've got a lot of stuff going on with Iran.
25:51And we sent a letter to Iran.
25:53You're going to have to be speaking to us
25:55one way or the other pretty soon
25:56because we can't let this happen.
25:58But that's an app that a lot of people use.
26:02And somebody got on. I mean, I happen to know.
26:04The guy is a total sleazebag. The Atlantic.
26:06The Atlantic is a failed magazine.
26:09Does very, very poorly. Nobody gives a damn about it.
26:12This gives it a little bit of a shot.
26:15And I will tell you this, that they've made up more stories.
26:20And they're just a failing magazine.
26:22The public understands that. He's a very good man.
26:25That man is a very good man right there
26:26that you criticized so strongly.
26:28He's a very good man.
26:32And he will continue to do a good job.
26:36In addition to him, we had very good people in that meeting.
26:40And those people have done a very, very effective job.
26:44And you're going to see it. And it goes on, by the way.
26:46It's going to go on.
26:47And I think the Houthis wish that it didn't happen.
26:52But that's what it's all about.
26:53We have to create a safe country, a safe world.
26:56And that's what we're doing.
26:57The Press.
26:58The Press.
27:00The Press.
27:01The Press.
27:02The Press.
27:04Who?
27:05The Press.
27:07Well, I don't know what this — I don't know anything about Signal.
27:09I wasn't involved in this, but I just heard about it.
27:12And I hear it's used by a lot of groups.
27:15It's used by the media a lot.
27:17It's used by a lot of the military,
27:20and I think successfully.
27:22But sometimes somebody can get onto those things.
27:24That's one of the prices you pay
27:26when you're not sitting in the Situation Room
27:29with no phones on, which is always the best, frankly.
27:32But, you know, you — the best is to be there.
27:35In fact, oftentimes, I've been in — in fact, just last week,
27:39I was in the Situation Room with something very important,
27:42and we had a couple of people hooked up by line.
27:44And I said, cancel the line. Sorry, fellas.
27:47What you do is, we'll tell you all about the meeting
27:50because I know people do get on those lines,
27:52whether it's Signal or anything else.
27:53Yes.
27:55The Press. Well, are you going to change any procedures
27:56as a result of this?
27:57Well, I mean, look, we look at everything.
27:59And, you know, they've made a big deal out of this
28:01because we've had two perfect months.
28:03We're bringing — we are bringing in business.
28:06We have another one announced tomorrow —
28:08a big one, very big.
28:10Like, in the history of our country,
28:11nobody has ever seen anything like it.
28:13And I think, probably, a lot of people are saying it's —
28:16they started by saying it was the greatest first month
28:19that a President has ever had, and I think that's true.
28:22And now they say it's the best second month,
28:24and they had to find something.
28:25And this — certainly, we'll look at this.
28:29But the main thing was, nothing happened.
28:32The attack was totally successful.
28:34It was, I guess, from what I understand,
28:37took place during,
28:39and it wasn't classified information.
28:41So this was not classified.
28:42Now, if it's classified information,
28:44it's probably a little bit different.
28:46But I always say, you get —
28:47you have to learn from every experience.
28:49I think it was very unfair the way they attacked Michael.
28:53He's a good person.
28:55The person that was on just happens to be a sleazebag.
28:58So maybe that's just coincidence.
28:59I don't know.
29:01The Press would it be a problem
29:02if the Atlantic released all the text messages
29:05if they're not classified?
29:06Well, I don't know. I'd have to ask the military about that.
29:09Because, you know, maybe you wouldn't want that.
29:10I don't know. I will say this, that from what I heard,
29:14the man that we're talking about,
29:16who's not somebody that I don't think
29:20most people have ever heard of,
29:22he left — he found it very boring and he left early.
29:25He got off the line very early.
29:28So I can't speak to it other than that.
29:31So he's made up a lot of stories.
29:33And, you know, I think he's basically bad for the country.
29:36But it's a failing venture, a very failing venture.
29:39They're very upset.
29:41And a thing like this is publicity for them.
29:43But I don't think we should allow people
29:46that are very good, like that man
29:48sitting right at the end of the table,
29:49who's done a great job —
29:51we shouldn't allow them to be hurt by it.
29:53The Press can I follow up on that?
29:55Can I follow up on that?
29:56Are you — so are you saying you're okay
29:57with the continued use of Signal
29:59by administration officials for Sunset?
30:01No, that's not what I said. I said we'll look into it.
30:03But everybody else seems to be using it.
30:06It seems to be the number-one used device or app —
30:09whatever you want to call it.
30:11And we will certainly look. If it was up to me,
30:14everybody would be sitting in a room together.
30:17The room would have solid lead walls
30:20and a lead ceiling and a lead floor.
30:22But, you know, life doesn't always let you do that.
30:24In the meantime, the attack itself
30:26that we were talking about and discussing
30:29has been an unbelievable success.
30:31But you will conduct an investigation,
30:33is what you're saying, into this?
30:34We'll look into it, sure.
30:35Mr. President, is that what you're going to do?
30:37I would look into it, sure. I would look into it.
30:38Is that the FBI or the FBI?
30:40Anything like that, I would ask them.
30:43It's not really an FBI thing.
30:45It's really something having to do with security.
30:48Security like, will somebody be able to break in?
30:52Are people able to break into conversations?
30:54And if that's true, we're going to have to find
30:56some other form of device.
30:59And I think that's something that we may have to do.
31:01Some people like Signal very much.
31:04Other people probably don't. But we'll look into it.
31:07I think, Michael, I've asked you to immediately study that
31:11and find out if people are able to break into a system.
31:15Now, in this case, it wasn't that this attack was going on
31:18and nobody found out anything.
31:20And again, the person that was on, as I understand it,
31:24he left very early because he didn't find it very exciting.
31:27But I think it's something you should look into.
31:29Yes, sir, we are.
31:31We have our technical experts looking at it.
31:33We have our legal teams looking at it.
31:36And, of course, we're going to keep everything
31:39as secure as possible.
31:41No one in your national security team
31:43would ever put anyone in danger.
31:44And as you've said and we've repeatedly said,
31:47the attack was phenomenal and it's ongoing.
31:50But the media wants to talk about everything else,
31:52except for the hostages
31:53you're getting out of the Middle East,
31:55Iran on its back foot, sea lanes getting reopened,
31:58peace in Europe,
32:00as we just saw today with a Black Sea ceasefire
32:03we were just on with Steve Whitkoff,
32:06myself, our team in Saudi Arabia.
32:08They want to talk about all this other stuff,
32:10except for your amazing successes
32:12and the successes of your team.
32:14One of the other things,
32:15and sometimes you have to move very quickly,
32:17and there are other devices that are very good,
32:19but they are very, very cumbersome
32:21and you're not able to use them
32:22and from a practical standpoint.
32:25So, all we can do is find out the best
32:28we have with modern technology.
32:30They'll probably get better over the years.
32:32Yeah, go ahead.
32:33The Press Sir, on the Black Sea,
32:34so the Kremlin has said that there were several conditions
32:37that would need to be met for this agreement to happen.
32:39This includes sanction relief for banks and some companies.
32:42Did the U.S. agree to all of those conditions
32:44that they laid out?
32:44The President They will be looking at them,
32:46and we're thinking about all of them right now.
32:48There are about five or six conditions.
32:50We're looking at all of them.
32:52The Press So, why, Mr. President,
32:56is looking into how journalists got added to that signal chat?
32:59Is it possible that there could be a firing
33:01of even a lower-mid-level official
33:04once that person is identified?
33:05The President About what?
33:06The Press About the signal chat that we've been discussing.
33:08The President We've pretty much looked into it.
33:09It's pretty simple, to be honest.
33:11It's not — it's just something that can happen.
33:15It can happen — you can even prepare for it.
33:19It can happen.
33:20Sometimes people are hooked in,
33:22and you don't know they're hooked in.
33:23They're hooked into your line,
33:24and they don't even mean bad by it.
33:26But it's not a perfect technology.
33:29There is no perfect technology.
33:30The really good ones are very cumbersome,
33:34very hard to access.
33:36And I think we're going to look at —
33:39we always want to use the best technology.
33:41This was the best technology for the moment.
33:44But again, it wasn't classified,
33:46so they probably viewed it as being something
33:48that wasn't that important.
33:49And it obviously, with the attack being —
33:52I mean, I don't know if it's been read out to you yet,
33:55but that attack was a tremendous success for the U.S.
33:58— a tremendous success.
33:59The Press Who said the information was not classified?
34:03Do you think that Mike Waltz made a mistake,
34:05and does he need to apologize?
34:08The President No, I don't think he should apologize.
34:10I think he's doing his best.
34:13It's equipment and technology that's not perfect.
34:17And probably he won't be using it again,
34:20at least not in the very near future.
34:21What do you think?
34:22The Press Yes, sir. I agree with you.
34:23Let's get everybody in the room whenever possible.
34:28The President A lot of times you find out defects
34:30by exactly things like that.
34:32But I don't think it's something
34:34we're looking forward to using again.
34:36We may be forced to use it.
34:38You may be in a situation where you need speed
34:41as opposed to gross safety, and you may be forced to use it.
34:46But, generally speaking,
34:47I think we probably won't be using it very much.
34:49The Press The Secretary of Defense,
34:51on that train, the Secretary of Defense,
34:53P. Hegseth, and J.D. Vance, the Vice President,
34:55said that the Europeans were freeloading.
34:58Do you agree with that assessment?
35:02The President Do you really want me to answer that?
35:04Yeah, I think they've been freeloading.
35:05The European Union has been absolutely terrible to us
35:09on trade — terrible.
35:11And, as you know, NATO —
35:12I got them to pay hundreds of billions of dollars.
35:14They were way behind.
35:16And if you look even — if you look at Ukraine,
35:19so we're in for $350 billion because of Biden.
35:22Should have never happened, this war.
35:24Should have — all these dead people should not be dead.
35:26All these broken cities that are demolished down to the ground.
35:30Those gorgeous towers. The most beautiful in the world.
35:32The most beautiful spires in the world.
35:34The spires in Ukraine were said to be the most beautiful of all.
35:40Just about every one of them is lying on its side
35:42in a million pieces.
35:43It's so sad to see what's happened to a heritage.
35:46No, I think that — I think when they say the European Union
35:52and the — and you could say NATO also.
35:54Look, NATO — and I don't blame NATO for this.
35:57I don't blame Europe for this.
35:59I blame Biden for the fact that he didn't make them equalize.
36:03And to this day, I said to him,
36:04you got to catch up, you got to equalize.
36:07But why are they in for $100 billion,
36:08and we're in for possibly $350 billion?
36:12It shouldn't be. It shouldn't be.
36:14And you could say more important for them
36:17because we have an ocean in between.
36:19So, you know, it's one of those things.
36:22You'll be seeing Liberation Day.
36:25I call it Liberation Day in America.
36:26You're going to be seeing it on April 2nd.
36:28Didn't want to do it on April 1st,
36:30for the obvious reason, April 2nd.
36:32But you'll be seeing tariffs.
36:35And I think I've been very fair. I have them set.
36:38But I think I've been very fair to countries
36:40that have really abused us economically
36:42for many, many decades.
36:44The Press That information was not classified.
36:50Which of your national security advisors told you that?
36:52The Press Just following up on your comments
36:54on the economy,
36:55there is reporting that consumer confidence
36:57fell for the fourth straight month.
36:59What is your message to Americans who are concerned?
37:01The President Well, I know this, that for the first time
37:04in like 50 years, right track, wrong track,
37:08we were on the right track.
37:10And I think people see that.
37:12And if you look at prices, prices are way down.
37:15You know, when I first came here,
37:16the first time I met with you people officially,
37:22they were screaming at me about eggs.
37:24I said, I've been here for a week
37:25and I'm being yelled at about eggs.
37:28Eggs, egg prices have come down 45,
37:3050 percent in the last week and a half.
37:33And our Secretary of Agriculture has done a great job.
37:37As you know, Brooke, she's done a fantastic job.
37:40And others working with her have done a great job.
37:42But we brought eggs down at a level
37:45that nobody thought we could get at.
37:47I inherited that situation
37:49and I inherited a grocery situation.
37:51The groceries went way up an old fashioned word,
37:53but it's a very descriptive word.
37:56Grocers have gone through the roof.
37:58And I used to campaign on it.
38:00I used to say, we're going to get groceries down.
38:01And we have got it down.
38:03I watched a certain newscast over the weekend
38:06and a congressman, Democrat congressman said,
38:08well, Trump's done a lot. I agree.
38:10He's been great on the border. He's been great on the military.
38:12But, you know, he hasn't brought prices down.
38:14That's false.
38:16Gasoline is way down. Eggs are way down.
38:20Groceries are down very substantially, but down.
38:24Almost everything's down.
38:26Now I'd like to see interest rates come down a little bit.
38:29And you're going to see billions of dollars,
38:31even trillions of dollars coming into our country
38:33very soon in the form of tariffs
38:35because we were abused by presidents
38:38and frankly, in all fairness, it wasn't their expertise,
38:41but they had no idea what they were doing.
38:43Mr. President, you say tariffs will create more jobs
38:46here in America. So which states?
38:48I agree. It'll be, it'll create a lot of money and more jobs.
38:51But if you look, so in the last,
38:54these gentlemen would know about it and ladies,
38:56because some of the ladies are great businessmen in this room
39:00that are becoming ambassadors.
39:01Great, really great. Top of the line.
39:05When you look at the number of companies that have said,
39:09like we're close to, I would say close to $4 trillion.
39:12We never had numbers like that.
39:14The number one chip maker in the world from Taiwan
39:16coming in with $200 billion.
39:19We have Apple, look at Apple, $500 billion.
39:26$500 billion.
39:28They're going to build plants all over the United States.
39:30They were all being built in China.
39:32You have many, many companies
39:33and maybe above all you have the car companies
39:35coming in at levels that nobody's ever seen before.
39:38We have, Honda is opening up
39:40one of the biggest plants in the world in Indiana.
39:43And many car companies are coming in.
39:46We have AI. We're leading China by a lot in AI.
39:52And we're going to keep it that way
39:53because we've made it very good for them.
39:55And we're going to protect them once they're here.
39:57We'll protect them through taxes,
39:59through incentives, and also through tariffs.
40:02Thank you very much, everybody.
