00:00The second batch of Filipinos who were scammers in Myanmar has now returned to the Philippines.

00:05According to the Interagency Council Against Trafficking, they are considered victims of human trafficking and are not liable to the country.

00:17At 6 in the morning, 176 Filipinos returned to their chartered flight from Bangkok, Thailand.

00:23The first to be noticed were those who had a medical case or were pregnant.

00:27Social workers from the DSWD and the Department of Migrant Workers also met them.

00:33One of the victims, Karen, was not a real name.

00:37She was promised P35,000 a month by scammers, but she was only paid P10,000.

00:43Aside from this, she also experienced a lot when she was not able to use her quota in the online scam.

00:48We were pumped up to P50,000.

00:51The punishment was different.

00:55It was overtime.

00:59She was only allowed by her friend and wherever she was allowed to go, including Samboanga and Thailand, before arriving in Myanmar.

01:06According to the Interagency Council, they were considered victims even though their scam activity was criminal.

01:11It's a scam compound.

01:13Let's remember that their main job there is to deceive other people.

01:17Under ordinary circumstances, it's a crime.

01:20But because it's a non-punishment principle, they are not considered criminals.

01:25In the Philippines, they are still considered victims of human trafficking.

01:31They will be given financial and legal assistance so that they can start their lives again.

01:35The government has already initiated an investigation on how to continue recruiting Filipinos.

01:40The Bureau of Immigration relieved their seven people who were involved in facilitating backdoor trips.

01:47We received information yesterday, a report, that there were people who facilitated backdoor trips of other Filipinos who were repatriated.

01:58So immediately, we relieved those people of their duties.

02:03I think they were seven.

02:05And we issued show-cause orders.

02:09And we are recommending that they be prevented and suspended by the Department of Justice.

02:14The government is still advising not to upload or share job offers on social media in other countries that are too good to be true or without an employment visa.
