00:00Ninety-five-seventh game, breaking news.
00:06Steph Curry's not playing tonight.
00:08What?
00:09Steph Curry is not playing tonight in Miami.
00:13Went through his workout with the team yesterday, as we know, and afterwards reported that he
00:18did not quite feel ready to rock.
00:22So with a couple more off days on tap after this one tonight, instead the Warriors will
00:28look, with fingers crossed, to the game in New Orleans on Friday night.
00:32Steph Curry will not play in Jimmy Butler's return to Miami.
00:37The pelvic bruise not quite fully healed, and they do have, what, two more off days
00:41before you get ready for the next game, which will be Friday.
00:44So yeah, it comes down to Dr. Rick Celebrini, and he went through a big workout yesterday
00:49and a shoot-around today, and you get through it and he's not ready to go.
00:52So yeah, it's an easy, easy decision to make.
00:55It's an easy call to make, but I know what you mean, and you're not wrong.
01:02But I guarantee you that this was probably made with a little bit of a grimace from Steph
01:07Curry.
01:08We know that Steve Kerr said, look, he flew out there on Monday to Miami purposefully,
01:15worked out yesterday, and really, quote, wanted to be there for Jimmy for this big game.
01:22And so I'm sure Steph put everything he had into being ready, but yeah, you gotta make
01:28the good decision.
01:30And that brings up the nerves a little bit in the standings as well.
01:34I really believe this gets lost in all of the Jimmy return stuff.
01:38This is a huge game.
01:39This is a huge week for the Warriors.
01:41The Timberwolves cooperated last night.
01:44They lost.
01:45The Lakers lost last night.
01:47The Grizzlies have tough action tonight.
01:50And the Clippers lost that game on Sunday.
01:53We're getting down to the nitty-gritty here, and the Warriors have a little opportunity
01:58for some breathing room, just a slight window of breathing room if they win this game tonight.
02:04So this is a monster, and they gotta do it without their top guy.
02:07And they have benefited by the fact that everyone around them, and I'm gonna borrow from the
02:12TJ Houshmanzala, pause, pause, pause, pause, because all above and below them, it's been
02:17loss, loss, loss, loss.
02:19But the only win streaks right now, OKC, six in a row, the Phoenix Suns, left for dead,
02:25four in a row, Houston, Denver, L.A., Memphis, Golden State, Clippers, Minnesota, and Sacramento
02:30all coming off a loss or multiple losses.
02:33So yeah, the Warriors not benefiting by the fact that they're coming off a loss, but all
02:39around them, no one else is really cooking except for Phoenix.
02:42No.
02:43I mean, your scoreboard watching tonight is the Grizzlies are in Utah.
02:47That's probably a win.
02:49But, I don't know, the Grizzlies are weird, and then the Rockets are home to Atlanta.
02:54It feels like a night where those who are involved in this whole chase are big favorites,
03:02big favorites, bigger than the Warriors are.
03:05And that number, by the way, was it five and a half?
03:10With the Warriors?
03:11Yeah, we're efforting finding what it's gone to next.
03:13Where I go, it's off the board.
03:15Lucas says on FanDuel, it went down two points to three and a half, but anyway, here we go.
03:20This one just got, I guess, through one lens, a lot more interesting, or maybe a lot tougher,
03:26but it's one that the Warriors need.
03:29They need them all.
03:30I mean, they don't need all of the 11, but you need to win a good majority of them, and
03:35you're sitting here at 41 and 30, and we talked about, you know, 48.
03:39Would 48 wins be enough?
03:41Well, it might be.
03:4249 feels really secure.
03:4450, I think you're in as a top six.
03:4750 wins would mean you wind up going nine and two the rest of the way.
03:51That seems a little spicy.
03:53That's asking a lot.
03:54Seven and four gets you to 48 wins.
03:55I think that that's probably more likely, but again, you look at the ones that you should
04:00win.
04:01Tonight is not a should win anymore.
04:03On the road, if you're only favored by three and a half or whatever it winds up as, that's
04:08not a should win.
04:09Maybe not a should, but it's stronger than a could.
04:14Like I mean...
04:15Well, there's no coulds anymore.
04:17It's not a coin flip.
04:19I mean, if you're not going to use the word should, what would you use?
04:23Because they are, they're the better team, they're favored.
04:25You're on the road, right?
04:27You're supposed to.
04:28I guess in that you're favored, but the favorites aren't 82 and 0, just because you're favored
04:33doesn't mean you win.
04:34No, it's not a runaway, but you're the better basketball team.
04:37They've won one time in the last three or four weeks of playing basketball.
04:42They've won one in a row.
04:43You're the better team.
04:44You're not desperate, but I think anytime a prideful team comes off of what they feel
04:50was an embarrassing loss, you get a better effort.
04:53You get a more focused effort.
04:55Then add in the Jimmy Butler part of all of this.
04:57You're going to get...
04:58Add in the rest as well.
04:59Yeah, you're going to...
05:00Exactly.
05:01You should get a pretty focused group tonight.
05:02Yeah.
05:04Minus Steph Curry, but I look at that game like we talked about when they were dogs against
05:11Milwaukee last week and Steph didn't play.
05:14I'm like, they have plenty to go win a basketball game.
05:16They just have to play the right way.
05:18Well, think about your Wednesday morning feeling or Wednesday afternoon when we get on the
05:23air.
05:24If we get on the air tomorrow and they will have lost, you're going to feel disappointed.
05:28If they would have won tonight, you're going to feel, ah, good win without Steph Curry.
05:32Solid win.
05:33So that's a good way to look at it.
05:34Instead of using should, could, might, or would, or the rest of it, how will you feel
05:39tomorrow at 148 in the crossover if they are now 0-2 on the trip versus, eh, they beat
05:46Miami without Steph Curry?
