Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh could be the deciding vote that overturns Roe v. Wade — and this abortion provider is worried that women's lives are at risk.

00:00The only outcome of abortion restrictions is to make abortion less safe.
00:22Oftentimes, the rhetoric is that these restrictions are about making things safer for women.
00:28And the scientific reality is that it does exactly the opposite.
00:46Do you want to see the court overturn Roe v. Wade?
00:48Well, if we put another two or perhaps three justices on, that'll happen automatically, in my opinion.
00:54Because I am putting pro-life justices on the court.
00:57If confirmed by the Senate, I will keep an open mind in every case.
01:03And I will always strive to preserve the Constitution of the United States and the American rule of law.
01:12I don't think that would happen immediately.
01:15But I do think that fear leads to negative consequences for women even before it happens.
01:24Because there's misinformation and women might not know that they can still access abortion.
01:30And it just makes people feel powerless.
01:40A lot of particularly conservative justices talk about believing in stare decisis, leaving prior decisions the way they are.
01:48That seems to hold true except for decisions that have to do with women and women's health care.
02:10I see abortion care as being just a regular part of health care.
02:15Women's health care in general is very marginalized.
02:18We don't talk about periods. We don't talk about miscarriage.
02:22We don't talk about contraception often.
02:27All of it is kind of hidden and tied up in puritanical ideals around sex and sexuality.
02:37If we could have this conversation be more out in the open, I think there would be a lot more understanding about what abortion actually is,
02:49what happens when somebody is getting an abortion procedure, how safe it is.
02:53It would go a long ways towards destigmatizing abortion for some people.
