00:00We, the Hong Kongers, will not abandon our fight for freedom.
00:04It's not because we hate China.
00:06It's because we cannot afford to lose our freedom to the authoritarian regime.
00:13So right now China is sending a message to us that says the authoritarian regime is watching
00:20you and even though the slightest opposition is not tolerated.
00:26On the 6th of January 2021, 53 pro-democracy activists have been arrested by the Hong Kong
00:37police and the Chinese National Security Bureau.
00:42And actually they have been involved in the pro-democracy primaries in 2020.
00:51And this election was later finally postponed due to COVID.
00:57And these 53 activists, actually they comprised of, some of them are the organizers of this
01:06pro-democracy primaries in July and the others are the potential candidates for the parliamentary
01:15election.
01:16We have always undergone these parliamentary elections and this is the only thing we left
01:24to prove that our system is still different from that in China.
01:29And now actually it symbolizes a collapse of the parliamentary elections in Hong Kong.
01:36And now when they arrest these 53 organizers or the candidates, potential candidates of
01:44the election, that means the Chinese government would like to defy the will of people, the
01:50will of 600,000 voters in Hong Kong.
01:55We have to use not just only coming out to the street, not just only direct encounter
02:02the force violently against the police force, for example, but there are various numerous
02:08ways to fight against this totalitarian regime.
02:13The people who stay in foreign countries and we can still prolong and continue our
02:19campaigns like the lobbyings, like our cultural projects here in different countries and to
02:27preserve the Hong Kong culture, preserve the Hong Kong language, to preserve everything
02:32that we treasure in Hong Kong.
02:35And on the other hand, we can also fight, we can also ask for certain help from the
02:42international arena to continue our fight.
02:44And then like the Tibetans, like the Uyghurs, and then there are a lot of people who are
02:51now being oppressed by the Chinese regime.
02:53They are still fighting against this authoritarian, even totalitarian regime because of the protection
03:01of the different countries all over the world.
